  • Hi, to help to remember kanji, you can try "kanji" program if you have a smarthphone with android.

    market.android.com/details?id=mx.com.covenant.kanjifull

  • Try the Kanji Wordsearch iPhone app! Fun, and it tracks your progress.

  • I good place to use along side this is a site called livemocha. It makes it a little easier.

  • His pronunciation of his R's are very western-like.

  • Oh, 郵便局 it's kinda strange coz i've starting learining about this exact kanji 2 minuts ago xD

  • ur english are so fluently-good,

where did you study in university??!~

    reallly want to know..

  • huh?

i thought the kanji for place was tokoro (所)

  • It's kanji for places not literally the word for place. THe places being book stores and post offices. :)

  • Similarity:

    電話 means telephone

    Japanese: denwa

    Cantonese: din wa

    Mandarin: dian hua

  • that's easy to remember, right bro !

  • Rather than to learn about 2 characters, I'd rather listen about methods to tackle the 1945 常用漢字.

  • Thank you for this video !

  • 局-burreau office 屋-store

  • just say "sumimasen, mou sukoshi yukkuri onegai shimasu"

    and ganbatte :)

  • Sure you don't mean "ganbatte yo" ?

  • Japanese post office=郵便局- i don't know this one.

    Chinese/Cantonese=郵局-Yau gouk

  • Post office is Yuubinkyoku in Japanese.

  • sweet xD

  • isnt kanji similar to chinese letters??

  • they r pratically the same, but read differently, and anyway, similar to chinese "ideograms" not "letters"...

  • Yeh their almost same

  • well kanji is basically the Japanese version of Chinese writings. I dont know much But i Know that On yomi is the Chinese based readings and the Kun Yomi is something like the Japanese readings.

  • hi, I don't understand why you think that if somebody is an idiot like neuropakho, he must automatically be a supporter of esperanto, could you explain that to me...? I mean that I speak esperanto and it is a language that I like a lot and which works equally well as English f.ex., being simultaneously many times easier to acquire. So it's sort of uneasy to me to read what you've written. Have you had some contact with esperanto so that you know that it's not worth attention?

  • Ok buddy, first of all. Try to read or at least get the meaning of the fight we had one month ago.

Is not about the esperanto, but ok dude I am going to explain it to you why I think esperanto is a dumb language.

Trying to create a language that can conect the whole world is STUPID, and as you saw if you create a language with characteristics of all the languages is kind idiot because then you care killing theo other languages, so what would be the use for a japanese guy....

  • ...to learn japanese if he can easly learn a language everybody speaks? then the japanese will start dissapear don´t you think?

A culture is a huge amoung of thinks not just the dates or the activities they do but the LANGAGE too!!

NO i have not been in contact with a person who speaks/learn esperanto because is worthless. And believe me NEUROPAKHO is not defending esperanto.

  • You can write in Spanish, I understand it, and also I've read your discussion and I know that it's not about esp, nevertheless you mentioned it. First of all esp was NOT designed to kill anything, including languages. Its purpose is to play the role of an INTERnational language - like English today, French yesterday, and tommorow possibly Chinese. The problem with those languages is that they require many years of hard work to be acquired, and with esp you reach the same within less than a year

  • I think it's simply much more practical and just. Whether this would lead to disappearence of national languages? I doubt it, cause each nation is strongly attached to its language and culture and will never give it up just because there exists a language much easier. You're saying esp is worthless. I respect your opinion very much, but I think it's sad that you reject something without having much knowledge about it apart from sterotypes.

  • You have the right to keep your opinions. But I think it's not really an open-minded attitude to have an opinion without knowing the subject, sorry if this sounds arrogant, that's just what I think... If you despite it all happen to get interested in the subject, please take your time and google: claude piron articles. But if you think it would be a waste of time - ok, that's your choice. Have a nice day.

  • Ok, you wanna keep talking Ok.

You have reach the point. The esperanto is a language EASIER than other and try to conect the whole world. But how can do a language to do that? Well, making that all the people learn it. But what could happen if this occurs? Well you are doing LINGUISTIC GENOCIDE. Yeah you are KILLING the other languages, and yes is killing the right word.

English, French and possible Chinese are now global langages because French was conceder a fancy language, English because..

  • so you think that people supporting esp want the governments to FORCE their nations to learn esp? Well, some of them for sure, cause esp-supporters are NOT a single homogenic group of people with common views. Among them there are many different views on different issues. I personnaly think any kind of compulsory teaching of esp neither makes sence nor is possible, so I'm against it. I rather think that esp is in itself such a great linguistic tool that it can spread without help from outside.

  • A hundred years ago it was spoken by less than 20 people. Now it's about 100.000 all over the world and counting. It spreads WITHOUT any political support. You say that teaching esp is a linguistic genocide. But I don't really see any link between teaching it and killing another language. Even if esp substituted English in the role of the language of international communication, I wouldn't even think of giving up my native Polish which I love and which is and will always be my only native tongue

  • I support esp because I think that a world, in which a language of a single dominant nation (the USA) with all its difficulties is the tool of global communication, is UNFAIR. Why? You and me spent many years and lots of money (yours or your country's) on learning English, that's why we can talk to each other today. But BILLIONS of people don't have this opportunity due to lack of money and educational possibilities. There exists a solution, but it's ignored. Think about those people.

  • A ver, me explicaré mejor. El japonés es una lengua "tonta para expresar sus ideas por escrito" porque usa un sistema de expresión que requiere muchísimo tiempo en ser aprendido si se compara con otros sistemas, y NO AÑADE NADA nuevo y ventajoso, al proceso de transmisión de información, que justifique la inmensa inversión de tiempo y esfuerzo. Resumiendo, los kanjis NO son mejores que las letras, pero encima requieren mucho más por parte del aprendiz (japoneses incluidos)

  • Liar, kanji = one of the three writing system japanese language uses

  • Wow that is really complex. Thanks for the video.

  • i learned hiragana...now all i need is to learn Kanji :D...thank you for this vid :D ^_^

  • yea im workin on that too :D

  • ???

  • jajjaa que risa cabron de seguro sabes hablar tantos idiomas, pero no sabes hablar español hahahahaha hahahaha ajjajaa que risa jajajaja jajajaja jajaa eres como los pendejetes que dicen "Yo aprendo 100 kanjis al dia" ajajajajjaa jajaja hahahaha jajaja

  • i'm interested in kanji .... but they forgot set properly the lightings or the EV shift settings in the video cam is set too high...

  • Marker is very faint. change the lighting, or use a fatter marker.

  • i'm mexican and im realy in to learning japanese i find it very cool to learn and interesting i would like to live in japan a little while and learn the language because what better way to learn a language than living in the country is there schools in japan teaching japanese to non-natives

  • Hola. Llevo cinco años aprendiendo Japo a alto nivel.

Por cierto, no te he llamado tonto.

  • You have lost your chance to know the answer to that question. Et pas seulement parce que tu n'as pas de la manière, senâo também porque você nâo ten um conhecimento suficientemente profundo per fare interessante questa conversazione, almeno per me... mi dispiace.

  • too long winded

what u taught in this video could be condensed into maybe just a minute

maybe even less using interactive diagrams.

  • From watching a lot of your online vidoes here, you're definitely a GREAT Japanese teacher. I know Kanji is hard, but the way you broke those two characters down made total sense to me. And to think I learned two in just minutes. If one was to study under you for a year, the person would be very fluent in writing and speaking in no time. Please keep making videos or start a online school.

  • we dont care if you have the hots for him..will ya shut up? this video is about learning japanese or atleast to get some idea....not how hot the teacher is and to give him a score...jeez

  • @sayiajinGoku actually i think he would like us to give him a score so he knows if his videos are good or not, but I dont know if he watches the comments because I never saw an answer to his videos so just nevermind me heh

  • hello... I like to watch your videos, but sometimes i can't see what's written =(

  • i cant bloody see his board marker is shiit.. ah wll.

  • Whatever the Lord does, it endures forever - the Japanese language is one of them.

  • the word konnichiwa means good day,if you are going to use the word, then you should only say it around 10am to 5pm I didn't know that but I saw it once in a web page.

  • Why does Japanese use Kanji (which is derived from Mandarin Chinese) in it's language?

  • Japan uses Kanji as a "shortcut" instead of writing out the whole name of a business in hiragana. Also, a lot of words have more than one meaning, spelled the same, but have accent marks. For example, the word for flower hana' also means nose, just without the accent '.i apologize if my explanation is shoddy.

  • The KAnji are taken from Chianese origin. There used to be many many more but liteacy was like 4% so they got rid of a whole stack. Them all the Jpanese people were like, hit, my namre doesn't exist anymore so they added some name kanji that aren't in other words. Also there are a small handful of Kanji that are ONLY in Jpanaese.

  • Kare wa chotto kakkoii, ne?

  • hai, so desu

  • Where did the Kanji come from?

  • chinese kanjiiiiii!

  • lol yea most of it is ripped from the chinese symbols.

  • ooh. sugoii. arigatou sensei. watashi wa nihonggo-ga wakarimas.

    =)

  • sugoi sensei...^_^

i really learn from you and it just increase my japanese vocabulary...

i expect more videos like this..^_^

  • 一例(example): 入国管理局(nyuukoku-kanrikyoku)-Bureau of Immigration Control, 屋根(yane)-roof

My personal favorite Kanji, though, is 鬱病(utsubyou)-depression ("byou" refers to a malady, and "utsu" is the one that refers to actual depression). But don't get that confused with 鼠(nezumi)-rat. If you've been to China(中国), HK(香港), Taiwan(台湾), Singapore(新嘉坡), or even Korea(韓国), you will be abe to pick up a lot of the meaning of the Kanji (Kanzi/Hanja).

    dsfy0604先生、日本語のレッスン有難うございました。

  • maybe he is highly educated that's why he is very fluent in speaking english same as japanese.

  • Wow! I could of gone here instead of going to the library. Now I feel bad for wasting gas. There is somthing I'm having trouble with. rolling the R's when triing to pronounce the words. Konnichiwa I know means good afternoon I think. but thats about as far as I know. Yes I wish to learn more. I will be going to japan sometime in my life and I don't wanna feel stupid if I pronounce something wrong. after all it is what I wish. To be in japan live to expiereance its culture or what is allowed.

  • Hi, There are many sites on the internet which help you learning japanese....well all world languages in general. Just google a little, there are also many sites where you can find a basic vocabulary for travelers with pronounciation WAV-files for foreighners which would do for the first ;)

  • Konnichiwa is just a regular 'hello'.

I can't roll my R's either to save my life. Thats what I love about Japanese: they don't do it.

    Good Afternoon/Good Evening is Konbanwa

  • this guys rocks

  • You need to slowlass with large down, convine you clear simblos, the blue color dos not show a good visual. for better learning aid use a separete smaller board to write you simbles, also go to multiple places take a pictures for a example of you class. remove the unnesesary writing on the big board thar way you will have space to write. you need to close up to you writing, do not worry about you been in the picture, by the efect of you teachung people will notice you!

  • it wont let me listen to it D:

  • oh lol my names Klayton. forgot to mention that..

  • Taihen arigato gozaimashita! all of your lessons have been helpful to me learning nihongo, i want to live there when i'm older!

    Domo. Ja, mata!

  • Takanori thanks for the Japanese video lessons, they are very well done, I placed you in my I Love Japan video here on youtube as my way of saying thanks for all you do. thank you Takanori!

  • Thank You,

    Kanji is beautiful.

Good timing - it's easier to learn in little bits, sometimes.

    You are a good teacher.

    Thank You.

  • こんにちわ、ありがとうございます。:)

おめでとう for trying your best to give us free lessons. :) This helped somewhat, but I'd recommend a different method if your doing this for ALL 漢字. :)

  • ...ehh, こんにちは* :P

  • ty so much

  • thanks dsfy0604 your teaching efforts are very admirable

  • Thanks for the new lesson!

  • Thanks for the lessons. However, due to the video quality and room lighting, it is very difficult to see what is written on the board. I would suggest using another method of displaying the writing, such as placing it on top of the video using Windows MOvie Maker or something.

Apart from that, these are great lessons.

  • Kanji are hard to learn, but he makes it really easy to understand. ^_^

  • really good, gotta learn as much as I can before I go over there this summer,Thank you!

  • hey man, from a fellow foreigner in japan (im in japan for a year of school), one thing i would suggest is to learn a lot more of the basic words and how to make basic conversation before you learn kanji, if you dont already. Im sure that because youve heard of kanji, youve also heard of katakana and hiragana, and i would suggest that you study those and be able to read all of those before you come, that would be a great head start.

  • yeah, i know a couple already but its kinda hard still.I bought this thing called living language ,Japanese and it teaches u the basics and so on.How long did it take u to be able to actually have a conversation in Japanese? Thanks for the help!

  • that was good, I like learning about kanji, thankyou.
