i don't understand the "do you think gold is money" part. there's nothing inherently clever about that question, and i don't know why people have seen that as a moment in which ron paul shines. gold is money just as much as pork bellies, crude oil, and silver are. they're commodities, look it up in an econ 101 textbook. the fact that people pin that statement on bernanke as proof that he doesn't know anything shows that those people themselves don't know anything.

When a currency is printed out of thin air, the rich who get to spend it first don't suffer the consequences of increasing the money supply, but by the time the poor get the money it has devalued. Also, I've always known that inflation is a natural occurrence in an economy. If what you say is true that it only occurs if printing a bunch of money then that means the US has been printing a shit ton of money since the creation of the dollar, hence the steady rise in price of goods.

Inflation is not caused by printing money - you need to print it as the old notes wear out, and the economy grows and more money is needed.

Issue remains, you don't get high inflation and low growth naturally occuring. Low demand reduces prices, not the reverse
