  • The swap itself is quite straightforward, you can use original pre 1996 Twingo engine mounts and they fit on R5GTT engine block without any problems. The most work is with finding place for a tubo downpipe, intercooler, all the hoses, etc.

  • Hello mate, very nice car! Could you tell me please, was the engine swap very difficult, or is it farily easy to do? Please let me know! Thanks

  • This Twingo came out as 1.2 55HP version. The 1.4 turbo engine is from R5 GT Turbo Phase 2 (standard 120HP), with some modifications.

The transplantation was done by a friend of mine, who has many interesting engineering stories to tell (old Fiat 600 with again arround 200HP, VW Lupo 1.8 Turbo conversion, own built 6x6 and Yamaha 600 buggy, ...).

You can check is his channel - user mrcturbo

@marcosffguimaraes: you can see the engineer driving the white VW Lupo

  • I forgot the link to mrcturbo's channel:

    youtube.com/user/mrcturbo#g/u

  • is 1.4 standard ? i mean when you buy it, it has 1.4 turbo? or did you put it on it ? and, let me ask you how many hp had it when you buy it

  • Very Nice, Congratulations.

Could you please, film the engineer?

  • GOOD JOB

  • nice job !! 260 in a Twingo... :-D would love to see the faces of the BMW and Benzes that you overtake at that speed...

  • n1...my twingo crashed last month :(

    how much hp?

  • Sorry to hear about your Twingo...

The power of my mine can be adjusted between 120 and 190HP.

For daily driving it is set up to 130HP/150HP - I am using a solenoid to switch between low boost and high boost from the cabin.

On this video I was on the way with approx. 160HP.

  • yeah that was really bad...someone crashed in my car when he was asleep...

hm 190hp in a twingo is really fast :D

  • 190HP means wheel spin until 4th gear and crazy acceleration. Using G-tech I measured 5,7s from 0-100km/h and 14second flat on quarter mile. With extra long gearbox and 15'' tires it reaches top speed a bit over 260km/h. :))

I would like to hear comments from 'big' car owners, running out of steam from 200km/h to 250km/h (and there were quite some ;) ).

  • sweet ;)
