  • This happened to me on an empty road, except the dear old lady in the drivers seat drove off as soon as I was on the pavement. I stayed on the pavement for a while becuase it was 8:30 on a sunday morning and no one was about. 50m down the road I see the same car parked up and the old lady unloading her car and entering a house. When I stopped to let her pass she has the nerve to tell me off for riding on the pavement.

  • @G2SLM

Ah well at least you KNOW she saw you the second time you encountered her!

  • Every time I see a cyclist getting aggro its always a Ford driver.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t

Well... I guess there are a lot of Fords on the road so by the law of averages... TBH it's not just from Ford drivers that cyclists get aggro. Unfortunately.

  • @kmcyc Sure seems like it....

  • @1ns4ne1d10t

    Yeah, I know...

  • Should of kicked him. I was on my 125cc vespa today and a woman did near enough the same thing at a traffic jam. She decided to turn into an off road and pulled out right infront of me. For the charming young lad I am, as I drove past and had to mount the curb I gave her passenger door a swift kick, hopefully denting the panel as there was force ;)

  • @Jaayyy1993

Sorry to hear about your incident and while this woman's mistake may have caused you injury or worse, you have committed criminal damage. Remember that had the police been involved, whatever near death experience she caused you would have been instantly forgotten and you would be facing charges. Never let your temper get the better of you, no matter how tempting that may be. This woman is now either terrified of vespa riders or has a vendetta against them. Neither are good outcomes.

  • The number of fucking morons in London scares me, and it's constantly increasing. Unfortunately it's not all drivers, there are a lot of dick head cyclists. This guy was doing nothing wrong, he is a road user just like the pillock in the focus... doesn't mean he should be forced on the pavement to avoid being run over.

  • He was in front of you before he turned and he was indicating so slow down and take it you cyclist prick.

  • @fookfocketyfookfook

Not familiar with the Highway Code are you then? Turning left, Rule 182:

Use your mirrors and give a left-turn signal well before you turn left. Do not overtake just before you turn left and watch out for traffic coming up on your left before you make the turn, especially if driving a large vehicle. Cyclists, motorcyclists and other road users in particular may be hidden from your view.

  • @kmcyc

    Rules for cyclists (59-82)

    64

You MUST NOT cycle on a pavement.

    72

On the left. When approaching a junction on the left, watch out for vehicles turning in front of you, out of or into the side road. Just before you turn, check for undertaking cyclists or motorcyclists. Do not ride on the inside of vehicles signalling or slowing down to turn left.

Maybe you should learn the cyclist section of the code first

  • @fookfocketyfookfook

I've read the cycling section thanks. This driver was overtaking and turning left at the same time. I took avoiding action and was forced onto the pavement. This would not have occurred had they read the road and not made the overtake, as per rule 182.

  • @kmcyc agree if you know you want to go left n theres a cyclist in front of you why overtake then go round cos your gunna brake n the cyclist will catch up might aswell stay behind and let them pass the junction then do what you intend to do

  • @DANATRINGWOOD

Thanks, that's sound advice. Most drivers understand this and are sensible enough not to overtake slower traffic before making a left turn or pulling into the kerb. Oddly enough, this driver didn't stop at the kerb but carried on right across the pavement and parked a full car's width from the road on the footpath.

  • @kmcyc well im a learner driver lol but its also just commence sense if you ask me :-)

  • @fookfocketyfookfook hes in the cycle lane

  • @fookfocketyfookfook You've no knowledge of the HIgway Code. It goes well with your tiny brain.

  • @fookfocketyfookfook Take it you driving prick. Next time you're walking out the front of your house why don't I come and slam my transit into you?

  • Comment removed

  • @roflniceone

Ah, ok, you again huh? So FYI, I was riding peacefully along in the cycle lane when this driver overtakes me and in the same moment decides to pull onto the footpath, ignoring the fact that I was even there. I certainly wasn't forcing my way anywhere, however I guess the same cannot be said for this driver.

  • I would have gone into the side of the fucker and made him buy me a new set of wheels, and frame.

  • @smith34n

Tempting. Perhaps. But then again, I didn't fancy being knocked off the bike and sustaining injuries at the same time.

  • @kmcyc Haha, yes, I suppose there is that.

  • @kmcyc I like to give the car a good whack as I go by when this happens. It gives the driver a good scare and probably makes them a bit more careful next time! It's a great outlet as well

  • @FatRakoon Well if you say I'm to stupid to recognise I'm stupid then I can't be stupid LQL I would take your comment off or re-type it again but in English please as you look stupid and your probably stupid enough to know your stupid, stupid! LML Don't bother my inbox again with your junky comment as I'm not interested because I fucking hate twats in lycra!!!!!!

  • The car is in front and is indicating! So under taking on the inside of a car is gonna hurt you more then their paint! Cyclists off the road your a menace to moving traffic and most of those cyclist never ride to the high way code!

  • @Thermoman69691

It may have been indicating and as you see it here it may have been in front but it was overtaking me, rather than me undertaking it. This driver didn't appear to notice that I was between them and their parking space.

See my videos "Filtering Is Not Compulsory" where I watch amazed as cyclists pass on the left of traffic signalling left.

Most cyclists obey the Highway Code but as we know not all drivers do. It cuts both ways.

  • @Thermoman69691 What on earth are you going on about? He overtook the cyclist first to indicate to pull in front of his path, how exactly is that undertaking?

  • @Thermoman69691

I really want to say somethign nasty here. with that kind of reply it not only shows that you dont care at all about cyclists, but that you are a complete idiot on the roads, btu I am thinking... Why bother?

you are clearly too stupid and ignorant to see how stupid you actually are.

So, I wont waste my time on it.

  • Some drivers really think they own the road. Astonishing.

  • @Group51

Looking back on this incident I cannot think that this driver's actions were anything but deliberate.

  • What the Hell?!?!

  • incredible luck there was the dropped curb before the bit he was aiming at..

big tires designed for rocks and roots should not be needed on the road!

  • @deedidee

Yes, well spotted, I'd forgotten that.

This was my road-spec MTB, so skinny 1" high pressure tyres - definitely not for rocks, etc!

Also this bike has 10kg in panniers so jumping up and down kerbs is generally impossible without incurring damage and/or injury and was only possible here as a last resort (ok, other than braking...)

  • Steel bar ends, they're your best friend for shit like this.

  • @blacklabel416

Ha! Good idea. Appropriately sharpened presumably? ;) Happily though this was a pretty unique incident - having to actually move onto the pavement to avoid collision I mean!

  • should have smacked a dent in to the side of his car

  • That would have really set me off, just so so stupid on the drivers part.

  • That's another situation when I would give a blast of my horn.

  • yet another ignoramus who needs a brick through the wind screen

  • I think on occassions like this you have to shout a vocal warning (eg "hey!! watchout!!") Giving people the finger doesnt work, they just go "who's that tosser?!"

  • These vids are but a small sample of what goes on... (You know this...) I used to think it made a difference to explain to drivers what they did wrong but then they usually stay on the road at least! This one knew full well that a) they were wrong and b) that they were a tosser

  • Hope you gave him an earful Keith

  • Not a lot of point. Just flipped him the bird and got on with it. Was a little focussed on where I was going at the time... Just took pleasure in knowing that he'd be on YouTube within hours... :)

  • I believe motorists aren't allowed to enter the part time dotted cycle lanes if a cyclist is using them, even out of hours.

We have mandatory solid white line lanes that opperate 24/7 and the feckers still park in them. :-(
