The tempo is everything in this song. Too mnay people play it way too fast. It should hang back a little and give the listener a sense of the easy days of Autumn. Great job!
@windstorm1000 Thanks. I was a little concerned that the rendition was too bare but I think you're right about having the right mood. Less is more in this case.
Charles, when I hear this song I think of my daughter overseas and cry like a baby. When she was little we loved everything about charlie brown, especially the music. God has blessed your talents. Keep up the good work.
@markforquer Thanks, Charlie Brown was a favorite of mine growing up and now that we have two kids it has been a joy to share the videos and music with them. Where is your daughter now? I hope not in a war zone, but then again so many of our young people are at the moment.
@MeteorMan05 Actually, St. Nicholas is the Saint. Santa Claus evolved from him. Both Christmas and Easter have become commercialized, though. And now Valentine's is too. I was in my local CVS Store recently and saw (get this) Valentine's Day Baskets made up like Easter baskets. Gee, I wonder what's next.
Well, of course they've become commercialized. People want to make money. Just because it's commercialized doesn't mean you don't celebrate it. It's still Christmas, a very important time in the Christian calendar (well, Catholic anyway) and Easter is more important (again, for Catholics. I'm not sure about other denominations). So not celebrating is kind of going against church teachings.
We should seriously stop this conversation. Neither of us can win.
@MeteorMan05 My barber was also a choir director at a Baptist church and he always felt that Easter was the most important day of the year. Without it, Christmas meant nothing to him. Sadly, he is no longer with us (March 2003). He missed Easter in 2000 due to medical issues. That was the only time in his life that he did not attend church on Easter and that itself almost killed him.
Wonderful, simply wonderful. Being a 9 year violin player, I usually tend away from piano pieces, but your take on this song is original to Vince; I especially like how it still actually sounds like a waltz.
Very nice. This is one of my most favorites of Vince's and you seem to be the best of one of most people who attempt to play his pieces! You play closest to how he played! I know every artist should play their own interpretation but Vince's style was the best for these creations. I mean after all, he wrote them right? Great work, man.
@RayfieldA : Hey, thanks for the comments, I think you are right on the money. It's all well and good to put your individual stamp on a standard but with Vince's music I think so much is lost in translation. When it comes to the piano I am more classically trained and so I approach Vince's music as if it were something by Mozart or Chopin. That doesn't mean it needs to be proper and stiff but just true to whatever the composer had in mind. Thanks for understanding. Take care man.
Just listened to this and your Thanksgiving and Halloween medley vids, great work man,you have an excellent ear...It's good to know that there's someone out there that's as obsessively familiar with this material as I am(and after watching these I'd have to concede even more so)

This music makes me think of Autumn. I love October.

finally someone bringing back the poetry and not rushing it--its definitly more wistful--and captures the melancoly of Oct.

I've been learning some of Vince Guaraldi's songs, and this performance is truly inspirational. You have great talent.

@redhero4 Thanks, although in this case I have to say I'm mostly just reflecting Vince's talent!

Santa Claus and The Easter Bunny are lies and should not be allowed in God-fearing Christian homes. Give me The Great Pumpkin anyday.

Kinda funny considering that Santa Claus is actually a SAINT.

@Jefferlaih Thanks for your comment! I was sort of concerned that the waltz feel was missing without the drums and bass backing the piano.
