  • Those who support the Castro regime are probably the least likely to find themselves living there, or if they did, the least likely to survive if they insisted on being in the opposition. Craven cowards and hypocrites, worry about YOUR f'kng situation where you are if you have ANY b%lls, and stay out of other people's politics instead of trying to overcompensate. Keep your worthless, "universalist" perspective to yourselves.

  • @bltsrmsqt

I support the castro regime . That doesnt make me a hypocrite What do I prove by living there. By suporting the regime doenst mean that I support the way they live or that its what I want. They had a choice between being an impovrished 3rd world nation that has been enslaved or to being the very fair but very hindered nation. Compared to alot of other latin american countries Cuba isnt poor. Cuba is humble very humble but no dirt poor or slaves.

  • the cubans are struggling against the monster of american imperialism

  • I think I can explain PubPundits statistics. He clearly does not regard Black Cubans as members of the human race. Hence his results are tilted toward the better off whites, the same people who fled to Miami and tried vainly to overthrow socialism with American guns and money.

  • And I'm not even a fan of Slavoj Zizek - but he's right on the money here!

  • Sorry Zizek.

You screwed up here. Big time.

Today, the Cuban Revolution does not present the decay and poverty as a proof of their authenticity. They claim that the proof of their authenticity is in their fight and struggle for survival inside the poverty and decay caused by multiple external factors.

  • Down with Fidel.

  • Down with Fidel.

  • What is the good of reading your '101 newspaper copies' if what is read is being controlled? And I say this as a Cuban.

  • Yeah, the Cuban press is fiercely censored - and the two big Party owned "newspapers" - "Granma" and "Juventud Rebelde" are not really newspapers at all but propaganda sheets!

  • @GREGORYABUTLER

Owned by whom? The democratically elected state, no?

  • In 1953, Cuba was 22nd among the world's nations in the number of doctors per capita, with 128.6 for each 100 thousand inhabitants.

The mortality rate was 5.8 -third lowest in the world-, while the mortality rate of the United States was 9.5 and that of Canada 7.6.

  • CUBA under the Dictator Batista:

    - Americans owned 70 % of the arable land

    - 1% of the population controlled 46 % of the wealth

    - Batista's goons and secret police killed 20,000 Cubans (tortured even more)

    - 67 % of the population were illiterate

    - 50 % of the population lived in Bohio shacks

  • Towards the end of the 50s, the island had the lowest infant mortality rate of Latin America, with 3.76, followed by Argentina with 6.11, Venezuela with 6.56, and Uruguay with 7.30, as per data provided by the World Health Organization.

Cuba was number 33 among 112 nations in the world as far as the level of daily reading, with 101 newspaper copies published per 1,000 inhabitants, which also contradicts the argument that the country was inhabited by a great number of illiterates.
