After watching several videos of Regine's, you feel you had enough of her shrieking roof blowing high notes. You expect more talents from her. But it stops there. I guess this is the reason why her popularity is confined just to her own country. Where they only measure musical talents by their local artless vesion of belting prowess called birit ,
Kaya siguro click si RV at ang "birit" singing style sa pinoy dahil na-identify nila ang sarili sa pasigaw sigaw at maasim na mukha ng mga singers na ito. Miski mga bata ngayon sanay sumigaw sa mga matatanda. Kaya mga pinoy konting di pagkakaintindihan, sigawan at away na agad. At saka puro mga kunot ang noo, ang aasim ng mukha parang pinagtakluban ng langit at lupa! Problema sa bahay dala pa sa labas ng bahay nila.

@noizek79 I too admire Regine's hitting high notes flawlessly but she's still not a great artist compared to the Legends of the likes of Mariah etc.. Great Artists have great minds and beautiful souls. Her vocal range is not actually as wide as Mariah's and lacks colors. I think she needs a stronger connection with the audience and . a deeper interpretation.of her songs to be an effective performer on stage.

Hitting high notes is just one dimension of the multi dimensional art of singing. I agree, RV has this special skill but she does'nt know how to use it artfully and effectively.Her flaunting this skill is to hide her other weak points like poor lower registers, her lack of rapport w/ audience, shallow song interpretation. She's got to sing more from the heart and avoid over singing. .
What kind of music people listen to mirrors the kind of society or country they live in. This has been the beliefs of the great ancient civilizations of China, Greece, Mesopotamia and others. Maybe Malaysia is more prosperous than the Philippines because they prefer sweeter, "bel canto" type music than the over-belted, shout-like music Filipinos prefer. Something for the mind to ponder.

"birit" the artless local version of Belting has become the staple and only measuremen of one's singing prowess..It has become over-used, most Filipinos ears have adapted to these "roof blowing notes" bordering on terse shrieking type of vocalization. Sitting adds a LITTLE more difficulty but it is NOT THE BEST AND MOST DIFFICULT POSITIONS... The only challenging position here is while on air... You should see Fergie, she hit all those F5 and G5 while rolling on the ground, swinging with a sling like a tarzan, doing a gymnastic flip, etc.
This is no offense though... I love regine, she hits very amazing high notes and has one of the best vocal range... It's just pretty common to see someone sit and sing like Charice, Mariah, Whitney, Celine, Christina, etc. They all ever sit while singing... PS. The flying was really great
well as you can see its regine some difficult singing positions, we all know that other artists you mention can able to sing this sitting position though, but this video is intended for (i guess) regine difficult singing positions not to compare with other singer who can sing the same singing position, its just showing how regine is flexible in different singing position with her high notes.
I probably had to agree... I don't think anyone hit a higher note than Regine while sitting (A5 right? I guess)... Whitney Houston and Natalie cole had a G#5 while sitting though, However it was kinda not sustained... I don't know about patti and aretha though...

Its not about being wrong. She does sound shrill and shouted on her higher higher notes. Though her middle range sounds really good. The problem is that she oversings too much, and a lot of times is comepletely unnecesary. Maybe you like how she sounds, for me she sounds hysterical when she goes too high. I did love the performance she did on "All the man that I need" by Whitney houston.

Sa mga local audience OK na yung makarinig ng makabasag tutuling mataas na boses .Pero ang international audience ay may discriminating taste, di uubra kung ito lang ang ipakikita mong talino sa pagkanta. @noizek79 I too admire Regine's hitting high notes flawlessly but she's still not a great artist compared to the Legends of the likes of Mariah etc.. Great Artists have great minds and beautiful souls. Her vocal range is not actually as wide as Mariah's and lacks colors. I think she needs a stronger connection with the audience and . a deeper interpretation.of her songs to be an effective performer on stage.

Hitting high notes is just one dimension of the multi dimensional art of singing. I agree, RV has this special skill but she does'nt know how to use it artfully and effectively.Her flaunting this skill is to hide her other weak points like poor lower registers, her lack of rapport w/ audience, shallow song interpretation. She's got to sing more from the heart and avoid over singing. .

"birit" the artless local version of Belting has become the staple and only measuremen of one's singing prowess..It has become over-used, most Filipinos ears have adapted to these "roof blowing notes" bordering on terse shrieking type of vocalization. Plus, I think it reflects also the quarrelsome attitude of most of the people due to political partisanship prevailing w/c media capitalizes on. .

Sitting adds a LITTLE more difficulty but it is NOT THE BEST AND MOST DIFFICULT POSITIONS... The only challenging position here is while on air... You should see Fergie, she hit all those F5 and G5 while rolling on the ground, swinging with a sling like a tarzan, doing a gymnastic flip, etc.

the most difficult i think is the "Paraisong Parisukat' at minute 7:03-7:25...why??? she hit a solid G5 in CHEST VOICE while she enunciates the word "giiiilLiiw..."
the G5 fell on that word w/c was very hard to do because she enunciated the letter "i" as letter "i"...others enunciate letter "i" as letter "e" when a high note fell on that letter...
and not only she hit the note, but she sustained it...

Its not about being wrong. She does sound shrill and shouted on her higher higher notes. Though her middle range sounds really good. The problem is that she oversings too much, and a lot of times is comepletely unnecesary. Maybe you like how she sounds, for me she sounds hysterical when she goes too high. I did love the performance she did on "All the man that I need" by Whitney houston.
