  • It is definitely Gwahoddiad - I have sung it for years! In Welsh and English. Lovely baritone middle section and powerful singing here...

  • I don't disbelieve you. I have sung both, too (years ago) but the MD was going on about this composer of the arrangement for Llanfair and I must have mesmerised into thinking we were listening to it! Thanks for putting me right.

  • @balmesh Yes, Gwahoddiad it is. Llanfair (Robert WIlliams 18741948) is is usually sung to "Hail the day that sees him rise, alleluia", or "Praise the Lord, his glories show, alleluia".

  • (Or sometimes "Jesus Christ Is Risen Today", though it's not the usual tune)

  • Thanks very much.

  • @balmesh This is gwahoddiad.........both tune and lyrics...youtube search Llanfair and have a good listen its a good hymn but it isnt this buddy!! :P

  • But they are not singing Llanfair - they are singing Gwahoddiad!

  • Well, it was announced as Llanfair - but then, it was announced mainly in Welsh so perhaps I got it wrong?

  • just to get that many men together at one time is a feat but to have them all sing together well now that is a real well done deed

  • Hi Wayne

Yes - in the old days getting a hundred men to sing, in Wales, was easy. Some churches did it weekly!

But now - 50 men on stage is amazing, and here were 61. Singing together - well you need a totalitarian despot like Eifion to achieve that, and it's not all done by beng nice, either!
