The public school system is rotting due to a heavy focus on standardized testing rather than promoting diverse methods of learning and 21st century literacies. In the "race to the top", states are compromising their children's educations for the scraps from the fed's table - making up a whopping 7-12% of their education budget. Not worth it in the long run.

Yeah it would be great if people participated in civil disobedience by preventing foreclosures of their neighbors and what not, but it won't happen. This can only be seen by a deep, open, and honest evaluation of the facts. This is very unique and unusual quality. The public school system is rotting due to a heavy focus on standardized testing rather than promoting diverse methods of learning and 21st century literacies. In the "race to the top", states are compromising their children's educations for the scraps from the fed's table - making up a whopping 7-12% of their education budget. Not worth it in the long run.

Actually this Dr. is very well respected. Having been an active part of many of America's modern revolutions since WWII, (and serving in WWII itself) I would say that it is safe to say that he's not communist or socialist. Yeah it would be great if people participated in civil disobedience by preventing foreclosures of their neighbors and what not, but it won't happen. Americans just don't have the balls these days for something like that. They are too comfortable with their petty material things to care about their neighbor....in fact many people don't even know their fellow neighbors.

Well I would love to....not sure how I would react if I found one of my neighbors in this situation, for example. Of course there isn't too much I can do alone.....this must be a group organized effort. For example me by myself can't block a bunch of foreclosurist by myself without fellow neighbors to protect....and most people don't want to get their feet wet so to speak.
I don't blame Fakesagan for being an armchair revolutionary.....not like he or you alone can do much of anything.

As a Marine veteran, I would never trust a Democrat! Sure, Obama has said a lot about Afghanistan and he has also mentioned that reinstating the draft is a good idea. His buddy Barney Frank has made comments of cutting the military by 25%.
As for the economy, you are 27 and never expenienced Carter. You think that Bush is bad, things where much worse under Carter!

The economy will rebound if there is some intervention. This has been proven throughout history.
Obama has never said anything about reinstating the draft.
Bush administration is putting us in a far worse situation than Carter. Even Al Greenspan said this.

Remember, the latency effects of economic policy changes can take up to a full year or two before the full effects are appearant. Besides, the economy was going south when Clinton left office.
The Dems have brought up the draft several times and Obama has even said that it should include women. The Repub are aganist instating the draft.

OBAMA HAS NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT REINSTATING THE DRAFT. Giuliani was talking about not having a problem with the military draft no?
The economy going down was started with Carter. Then it got a little better. Then Reagan's "trickle down effect" and "deregulation for the spirit of free market" hit us hard. And the policy instituted of giving tax breaks to jobs that outsource overseas didn't help much.

As a veteran, I am aganist the draft. Just research it. Most of the time, it brought up by Dems. You are 18 and so it should be more of an issue for your generation.
Free markets do work and there are cycles. Government control is not an answer. I am better off than most and I can ride out the bad times, but I don't want things made worse on the poor. When government go after businesses, the lower classes suffer more. I had to give my HR names for layoffs before and I hated it.

There has been a lot more historical evidence in America, of regulating businesses when the economy is bad, then the free market. There is no free market, it's just unchecked capitalism that destroys the economy and job market.

Actually, Carter's highest rate was 7.5%, but inflation did hit 12% and interest rates rose to 20%.
Hey, you are passionate about this and I do respect that. So here a bit of investors advice, if you have an IRA or 401K, research Guaranteed Retirement Accounts or GRAs. The story broke on this two weeks ago and Dems want to replace IRA/401Ks with these accounts. If it happens, you will have another year to take advantage of the current tax law. The new accounts will only be invested in bonds.
