What's the problem? Two guys playing an instrument, just as they like. Probably they didn't have a "master" to teach em right like all you grandmasters. I'm also someone who just give things a try, don't care if a professional thinks its good... much less YOU think its good
I feel that beat! Relax ppl, these are two guys hanging out and obviously having a good time in the sun. Someone filmed it and put it out on the web. Big deal, this isnt attending any kind of competition or whatnot to prove itself "out there". I hope not anyways :) I rather be the dude that doesnt understand but is expressing, connecting and having fun THan he who knows it all and has lost his joy (Usually expressing himself negatively towards others, with a superior attitude)
This is rhythm is basically used to call/recognize the oreisha Shango and if you want to really get original feeling of it moving you must atleast have correct timing when your trying to break in fills/rolls or it ruins the spiritual vibe
it is not traditional but I wouldn't say its bad or wrong. it's the same as when several guitar players play several styles. but theese guys make a lot of rhytmical mistakes thats true
What people need to realize is that this drum orginated all over the middle east, across several dialect areas, so there are many names for the same drum. (although some minor differences may exist).
also, darabuka vs darbuka
we cannot directly translate arabic into english phonetics,
kinda like taoism vs. daoism, both are correct (and the same)
that rythm is catchy

first off, you are holding the drum all wrong, it's a darbuka, not a djembe
second, rhythm is terrible, and it is not together
if you are going to make a video to show people you can play a drum, make sure you can actually play the drum CORRECTLY

It isn't darabuka, its a darbuka, and it is more commonly referred to as a doumbek.

AWESOME - thanks for that - Darbuka is a north African drum, these are the egyptian versions. Nice playing.
