I don't know where the hell this punti thing is coming from but you should probably know this language. This language was brought down by the Hans who settles in Southern China (Guangzhou.) Over time, it probably moved over to Malaysia since we are close. But the name remains, the real name of this language is Hakka >:O

I can speak Hakka, but even then, there are variations to the dialect which makes it even harder to "teach" or "learn" as you may come across the 2-3 variations (at least as many I've encountered).
So as a form of courteousy when greeting friends or relatives, you can ask:
"Ngi sit bao mang?"
Ngi = You (Ni)
Sit = Eaten (Chi)
Bao = Full (Bao)
Mang = No english word for this, it's a chinese exclaimation (Ma)
If you know chinese you'll understand it's translated from "Ni chi bao ma?"

This is a veteran singer from Malaysia. His name is Chew Chin Yin. He is a Hokkien but he sings originally at younger age in Mandarin, then he switched to Hokkien (Minnan or Taiwanese) songs in 70-80's & was known as one of d best Hokkien singers in Malaysia during tat time singing in original composition. After mid-1990's he started to venture into Hakka songs but not very successful probably bcos he didnt sing n original cover version but copied from Cantonese, Mandarin n Taiwanese instead.

A sad news to share with Hakka song lovers. This singer, Mr Chew Ching Yin just passed away 6 months ago, due to cancer. He is one of d best loved singers in d 1970's to 1990's, singing in Mandarin, Hokkien (Minnan) & Mandarin. Known for his good jokes n showmanship during d peak of his era. He is a Hokkien actually; not Hakka.

Nice! Very rare to listen to Hakka songs. Many many Cantonese songs (Wong Kit, Lo Man, Yung Joey , Stephanie Cheng, Twins, Nicholas Tse) and Mandarin songs (Teresa Teng, Stephy Tang, MC Hotdog). It seems Chinese music is mainly either Cantonese or Mandarin.

I can speak Hakka, but even then, there are variations to the dialect which makes it even harder to "teach" or "learn" as you may come across the 2-3 variations (at least as many I've encountered).
So as a form of courteousy when greeting friends or relatives, you can ask:
"Ngi sit bao mang?"
Ngi = You (Ni)
Sit = Eaten (Chi)
Bao = Full (Bao)
Mang = No english word for this, it's a chinese exclaimation (Ma)
If you know chinese you'll understand it's translated from "Ni chi bao ma?"

This is a veteran singer from Malaysia. His name is Chew Chin Yin. He is a Hokkien but he sings originally at younger age in Mandarin, then he switched to Hokkien (Minnan or Taiwanese) songs in 70-80's & was known as one of d best Hokkien singers in Malaysia during tat time singing in original composition. After mid-1990's he started to venture into Hakka songs but not very successful probably bcos he didnt sing n original cover version but copied from Cantonese, Mandarin n Taiwanese instead.

A sad news to share with Hakka song lovers. This singer, Mr Chew Ching Yin just passed away 6 months ago, due to cancer. He is one of d best loved singers in d 1970's to 1990's, singing in Mandarin, Hokkien (Minnan) & Mandarin. Known for his good jokes n showmanship during d peak of his era. He is a Hokkien actually; not Hakka.

Dialects means d Nanjing Tongue, Chongqing Tongue, Beijing Tongue r all dialects of Mandarin. Beijing Tongue Mandarin is the Prestige Version of the Mandarin Language adopted as Putunghua (Official Language) in China.
Cantonese, Taiwanese (Min/Minnan), Hakka, Wu (Shanghainese), Xiang, Gan are all known as languages; NOT dialects !!!

Hakka, like most dialects including Cantonese will eventually spoken by less people. This is unavoidable but will not happen in this century or next century, but may be in a millennium year. However, all dialects will be preserved in digital format for the future reference. So, dialects will not extinct.

The Hakka cannot be pure Han people because like many Southern Chinese people like the Cantonese and Hokkiens etc, they are basically a mixture of Han Chinese from the north and aboriginal Yue people who were the original inhabitants of Southern China. The Hakka also has admixture with the She people, who speak a Hmong-Mien language.

HAKKA songs shd develop original cover version wif original melody n lyrics. Singing others popular songs make it sound like shit! At least Mandarin,Cantonese & Taiwanese songs have 80%-90% original numbers to show.
