Autodesk Alias Design Lesson 1 - Part 1 - Overview of the Alias Design Interface

Ok, so i'm a noob and all, but did you really have to make every single part of the UI different than most programs? Like Ctrl+N= new file, Ctrl+D=deselect, you know... Go ahead pros, and tell me about workflow and i soulf probably learn more about it before making these remarks, but damn autodesk, was it really necessary to make the learning curve so steep?
