very good, kind explanation of Beethoven's history, and also the theme of 4th movement, "must it be?" and "it must be". I have never known that theme, but I liked the 4th movement so much so far, but now I know what Beethoven meant when he wrote 4th movement, so serious so awesome so noble so beautiful 4th movement of 16th string quartet. thank you

@SayingNo It was not Beethoven's final piece. His final piece was the last movement of the String Quartet, op. 130, which he replaced for the Große Fuge. And what do you mean by "using it as part of a composition"? Are you inserting the piece in your composition? I don't think the Maestro liked that...
