It looks so realistic, but there is not enough emotion in his face. Also Is it weird that I am reminded of lizard-men? Probably the texture of his skin and his "nose" Fantastic job, though. Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise.
@EponineGraydeChagny Thanks. I'd like to make more of these, but life is busy. I have a newer cartoon Erik which I would love to use one of these days, as well as a Christine. Some day I will revisit this work. Lip sync is good practice. :)
that is so freaking amazing! hey... if they ever decide upon making a phantom of the opera movie based on the book, you better be one of the head animators! XD
Very cool animation/Erik, indeed! (I noticed that the 3 different animations all have different faces/heads - this one seems to have more of a graphic, "death" appearance.)
The blinking - wow! Just makes him look so real and alive!
Could you try one like this with "golden, glowing eyes" though? Just to see what it/he would look like? Pweeeeeease? *beg beg beg*
Yeah, the first one looked too much like a gremlin, but I needed something for school so I changed its mouth so I could lip sync. This one is the final design; it follows Leroux much closer.
As for the eyes, they're glowing a little bit now, but not enough to overpower realism. I have an old textureless image with the eyes cranked up somewhere. I could put it into my devart page if you like.
I just went to your page and got a glimpse - very cool indeed! (I love Erik with the golden eyes - he seems so cat/hawk-like!)
I too, have done some drawings of Leroux's Erik/Phantom! (I've actually done more drawings of Phantom, than I have of any other kind of subject! LOL!) Viola!..
Yes... I love it when his eyes glow! I need to get the animated version off of amazon... I could use some lip sync practice, too. D= You do such a beautiful job.
I know, that's how I first heard of it! =3 I would just like it to have it... same with the Kopit version. I can watch that here, on youtube, but it would be neat to have the actual DVD...
I'm just a simple self-proclaimed pencil animator. You can see two of my earliest animations on my channel... I need to upload my new ones... They're all very rough and not nearly as professional looking as yours are.
*jumps* Holy crap! I clicked on a link and I totally wasn't expecting that!
*watches video again* Wow. That is awesome!

AAAAaaaaaahhhh... Wait... Where's the ugliness?

You know what's funny about the human face? The nose makes or breaks it.
It you cover that 'great black hole' with your finger and picture a nose in it's place he just looks like an old man!
If Erik did look like this in the imagination of Leroux, he should've just worn a modified eyepatch on his nose xD
OushGisher 1 year ago
@OushGisher He does. Leroux describes Erik wearing a false nose at least once or twice. I believe there was even a mustache attached. lol

This is freaking fantastic! Do you plan on making any more of these or a longer clip of this one? It's just so good.

Great job! It's such a shame the animation from the actual cartoon was so terrible, but this certainly makes up for it.

Lol, he looks like Voldemort from Harry Potter XD

Hey, Leroux!Erik! AWESOME stuff! Can't wait to see more!
LOL I know that vid... Sadly, I think he should be a bit more emotional at that moment, heh. Still, it WAS the closest to the book so far...

Yeah, that voice was really flat sounding considering what was going on...

That's a fabulous render! And I love that you used his cartoon voice :}

wow this is amazing, haven't used 3Ds Max yet but i'll have to try it.

I love Max. It's a lot more user friendly than Maya, although Maya has more features, especially for texturing.

Hey, if you could place that image somewhere on your Devart page, that would be "Phan"-tastic! ;-D
I took a quick glance at your page - great artwork! :-D

Thanks! His eyes even glow in the dark. ^^
I like the cartoon Erik's voice too; I'll probably use more clips from that for more practice.
