  • one of the best finishes in tournament history!

  • I like to play - 'Count the pixel'

  • @danonabouncycastle Sorry about the resolution. The source dates to the 1995-1996 Duke Basketball Interactive yearbook, which was available on CD-ROM. This video was included as a bonus, in a tiny format. The truly innovative feature of the CD-ROM was the inclusion of a video capture technology that would be popularized four years later by The Matrix as 'bullet-time.' dukechronicle[dot]com/article/basketball-enters-world-advanced-technology

  • Why the hell did the KY Defenders back off ?? Dream Land !

  • fucking kentucky screws everything up

  • press 3

  • was this a THE championship gm?

  • @stallion0308 It was not the final. It was the Elite 8 round

  • @mrlujo well did they at least win it all that year?

  • @stallion0308 They did, 92' was the second of their back to back champinship seasons.(91& 92)

  • Laettner shot for 100% in this game.

  • Great call..but I still don't know if its as good as Keith Jackson's call of the Hail Mary between Colorado vs Michigan.

  • mario chalmers shot was better againest memphis

  • ..good shot fer sure but not one of the all-time best..

  • 5 people are kentucky fans

  • @nintendodailyvideos Probably, either that or someone from another fan base that also hates Duke. I'm not disliking the video, though. I just wish they'd stop playing it as #1 in all the top 100 NCAA Tourney buzzer beaters. There've definitely been better shots than this one. Still a pretty good game, though. Good luck this season.

    Go Big Blue!

  • Gosh , during this era tv's were still being made square and weighs like a ton and the pictures onscreen are nothing like today . But anyway that was one hell of a game that I remember watching . Christian Laettner retired from NBA even though his career wasn't like his colege but he is still awesome .

  • @utah65 The most amazing thing about that game is - Laettner had a PERFECT game - I think he hit 10 for 10 from the floor, 10 for 10 from the free throw line. Never missed a single shot.

  • I was working when this aired...Had the radio on...Heard it. Thank God because seeing it live would have sucked. Still...GO CATS!

  • every little kid dreams and practices for this moment in his backyard

  • sharkd59, now and then I try to try to remember what precisely it was like well before I was able to dunk the ball. Right after I followed the training course system at 50inch vertical[dot]com - my game has been increasing alot - no longer am I on the bench every game!

  • i no this guys nephew

  • Keep in mind Kentucky went to the National Championship those 3 years in a row while losing a few players in the NBA Draft. They lost in 97 because of Arizona's guard play. And I think no other school has produced more 1st round picks in the draft than them.

  • I'm a Kentucky Wildcat fan and I cant watch this even today without getting a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. This has to be the best game I have ever seen, umm except the ending that is lol.

  • T hill is tyron hill ?

  • Thomas Hill.

    Duke 1989/90-1992/93

  • One of many of my favorite sports call, as a sports fan(unless your a UK fan lol), if these doesn't give you goosebumps your not an avid sports fan at all!!!!!!!

  • I was out of town that week and had a house sitter tape this game for me. My tape ran out just as Laettner was taking the shot!

  • did your tape run out after showing him make the shot or before the shot went through the basket?

  • dribbles, shoots... SCOOOOOOOOOOOOORESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

  • I love Bob Harris, the voice of the Blue Devils. The Shot never gets old!!! Look out Minneapolis, Here Come the Blue Devils!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO DUKE !!!!

  • Any reason John Pelfrey didn't guard Laettner? Kentucky decided not to guard the in bounds from Grant Hill just so they could double team Laettner and yet, there he is, the brilliant John Pelfrey just standing there watching Laettner shoot an open shot.

  • his reaction when the ball goes in is priceless, his shoulders slump like he has just given up on the world.

  • he didn't want to foul him

  • Well I'm sure his coach didn't want him to foul him. But you can play defense without fouling and Pelfrey was merely a spectator. He was supposed to double team Laettner, and the other guy did his job while not fouling.

    Pelrey = Stupid.

  • the chills.

  • yes luck... from one of the best college basketball players ever... luck.

  • yeah... 10/10 from the field and 10/10 from the line in an ncaa tourney game and having one of the best college careers ever is what i would call "luck"

  • That gives me "The Chills".

  • Hate him or not.....the best finish I have ever seen to any basketball game. I am not a Duke or Laettner fan.......but this clip sends chills down my spine.

  • I feel the same exact way, to this day this is the best college basketball game I have ever witnessed.

  • Yes, for sure! I am a Tarheels fan true and true, but this was definitely the most exciting play in the history of college ball.

  • don't hate him because you can't play like him

  • he's a good player don't get me wrong.

    he's an ass hole though.

  • what do u have agains ducks did one kick your ass

  • DUKE RULES!!!!!!

    YA

  • You need to do a little research then. Duke needed that shot to get to the '92 FF. Until Florida repeated a few years ago, it was Duke that was the lone team that went back to back ('91 and '92). Prior to that UCLA had repeated but that 17 years previous.

  • Well Kentucky won it in 1996, then lost to Arizona in DOUBLE over-time in 1997 & then won again in 1998.Technically speaking, the 1997 team was the best of the 3 teams that went to the finals 3 years in a row.Granted they didn't go back to back, but 2 of 3 while being in the finals 3 straight years is the best program since the UCLA squads 30 or so years ago. That UK team sent 11 players to the pros & the 1996 teams is known as the second greatest NCAA team in HISTORY!!

  • You're contending that going to the National Championship three years in a row makes Kentucky the best program since UCLA under Wooden?

    AHEM... Duke:

    1986 (National Championship, 69 - 72 Louisville)

    1988 (National Semifinal, 59 - 66 Kansas),

    1989 (National Semifinal, 78 - 95 Seton Hall),

    1990 (National Championship, 73 - 103 UNLV),

    1991 (National Championship, 72 - 65 Kansas),

    1992 (National Championship, 71 - 51 Michigan),

    1994 (National Championship, 72 - 76 Arkansas)

  • @sharkd59 Simple enough, we've got the most wins out of any NCAA team (Kentucky) this includes tournament games as well.

  • @sharkd59 The 96' team isn't just our opinion, its espn's.

  • Sure, because ESPN couldn't possibly be biased... which is why they still run with stories like, 'Duke gets beneficial calls because of favoritism by officials,' 'Duke's current team is unatheletic,' and 'Roy Williams is the coach of the decade because he won two national championships, even though Duke was the winningest program (and Krzyzewski had the most wins of any coach) from 2000-2009.'

  • @sharkd59 LMAO are you kidding me with ESPN being biased toward UK ? HAHAHAHAHA I'm not responding to you anymore ... late.

  • @sharkd59 One more point though, Jay Williams is a sports analyst for them. Win.

  • one analyst out of like 30? and williams isnt even biased cause he knows the game better than the annoucers anyway so what maks him biased?

  • @sharkd59- thank you. very well said indeed.

  • @sharkd59 You're forgetting Rupp. Also that's only a threepeat as well; so objectively it's equal.

  • @sharkd59 If you're actually trying to say Duke is a better program than UK then you're wrong and practically every basketball analyst would say you were. Duke is a great program...dont get me wrong. But theres only ONE Big Blue.........7 championships and more wins than anyone else. The ultimate legacy in College basketball

  • @williwo Damn right...GO CATS!!

  • No only one overtime in 97

  • and 08

  • @acason4 I agree with you that was a great team I think I could have taken that team all the way in 98. I mean if Tubby Smith could do it im sure any idiot could!

  • @hooforia well you can add Butler to that list now!
