How come pretty much everybody allowed to compete on X Factor as the judges final choices evidently haven't had nearly enough vocal training to be called even a halfway decent singer!? I'm not biggin up the US compared to the UK but at least American Idol comes off as a professional singing competition for the public. X Factor is a competition for vocal amateurs by comparison. Why the hell is it still given screen time bearing this in mind!?!

@kamakarzie99 I was thinking it was just because *most* Brit vocalists are allowed to have record deals, even though they're too lazy to put in the work on their voice first...and/or *think* they can sing well! Seems strange to me *every* U.S vocalist I've heard obviously worked on vocal training (alot). And what about Leona Lewis? She's had her voice groomed for many years! I think you're thinking of the show, Britain's Got Talent...which, when it comes to good vocalists, imo, it hasn't lol ;)

I think in Britain, what happens is musical big wigs try to sell vocalists on persona with less emphasis on vocal ability than in the U.S.

Gamu was very good and certainly didn't need any artificial enhancement devices, I'm sure it must be very off-putting to hear whilst trying to sing and I hope that they never use it for future shows.

It was not auto-tuned live for the judges, it was auto-tuned later on by the tv producers who auto-tuned the singers voices because they thought it would sound better at home. After so many people complained they took the auto-tune back off episode 2 and will now leave it off.

Surely they'd get excited after the last time she sang it and finished the chorus, and not some random part?

Auto-tune is something that CAN really change your voice but if her voice had been really auto-tuned it would of sounded really echoey and close to sounding like a robot. If you listen you can hear the notes changing in a very accurate manner - normal vocalists don't do that - it can also make them sound "warbly" or synthesised which happens here. Watch the video and listen to her sing "so sure" at 0.20. You'll see what I mean. It also happens at 0.38 when she sings "telephone gotta hold myself down". It then happens throughout the song. It's cheating and makes it unfair for other contestents. It also make her think she's better than she really is.
