Isn't it so wonderful when we get to experience the 'mistakes' (i wish i was talented enough to screw up like this!) of these acmes of the art?

"God is in the details" it has been said, and these details, the imprefections, really connect these lofty artists with us. And the whole context, just transports you to another plane of existance, or so one can hope for....

yes, it is a mistake, in fact i do not know why they have sold the CD with this imperfection( i tunes version), if you look at the partitura there is a final cadenza with orchestra , i have practised it with an other finale...... " o Dio" as the end it is not the right one....!!!

well, Pehaps, paula, it's just a matter of taste of Biondi, I have a video in my channel with the final aria of Scarlatti's La santissima annunziata, sung by Invernizzi and Conducted by Biondi, and has a very similar abrupt ending!

And I don't believe in Virginclassics videos, they're just fake, for example if you listen carefully, you'll realise that it's the exactly same audio track of the cd, and you can hear Vivica Genaux, but you can't see her in the video anywhere!

That's because the final recording has been superimposed over these video clips. They just dubbed a bit of the laughter in at the end, we didn't actually hear her mistake.

Most of these ladies are incredible, Invernizzi does not look it here, but when she primps up a it,she can give any actress a run for their money. Just look at the passion she has for her music! Check out veronica skuplik in christine pluhar's _une ami italianne_

This is a true synergy of the singers, the ensemble Europa Galante, A. Scarlatti, and the instrument makers.

On this CD, Invernizzi does several duets with vivica geneax, tracks 28 and 37. If you read the libretto (in both italian and english (et al), it brings tears to your eyes.

The Cd La Santissima Trinita was the first "operatic" recording i ever purchased, and have since purchased several more as gifts. It's really amazing.

Truly a great finale to an "okay" oratorio by Scarlatti. The performers truly transform this average oratorio into a musical gem. The soloists are first rate, and anything Fabio touches these days turns to gold. It's great to see 5 singers (Vivica sadly is not shown, which is a shame because her facial expressions are so great) who truly love what they do. They all shine in this video clip, but Paul Agnew shows just how first rate he is especially at :26.

I really like the voice of Massimo Crispi who sang Alessandro Scarlatti's oratorio Humanità e Lucifero (also by Europa Galante)

Actually, it's not so much an "ok" oratorio by Scarlatti. The libretto is of celestial quality, and Scarlatti does his part.

Allesandro was in good graces from a lifetime of proper music to the church- this question as to the essence of God was in a lighthearted manner, but the asking of questions is seeking knowledge, an act that goes to right to the core of the judeo christian existance (tree of knowledge). 

He put his life and spirit into this work, and the utter beauty of his creation has kept this whole 'inquiry' alive to this day,. It feels light and superficial, but to avoid offending the powers of Rome.

yes, it is not technically that impressive, i suppose. Something about this oratorio touches me.

maybe that it is my first real operatic music love, or that Europa Galante does such an exquisite job of performing a later work of an Italian master.

I dunno. I just love it. The subject makes it very accessible to me personally.

sorry to disagree but i find the libretto interesting and actually really funny (especially the argument of fede and teologia at the beginning, when faith tells theology thats shes just never gonna get the whole picture LOL)

This would make a really interesting stage production, developing the relationship between Fede and Infedelta. When I read the libretto I could just see the tenor trying to remove Fede's blindfold...!
