Most people wouldn't associate with you if you got a bad reputation, so even those of us who were "wild" acted properly and discreetly on the surface. There was a whole culture of hypocrisy then and while I don't appreciate all the rudeness and ugliness popular today, it is more honest -- most people just aren't all that good -- lol.
@liz1060 I prefer the polite manners, appropriate dress and staying out of trouble, or at least trying to or appearing to. Hypocrisy still exists, at least they had good intentions then.
I, too, prefer all those qualities ... the 50s had it's own problems, people weren't happier then ... I believe we have good intentions today and all those qualities are still available -- anyone who wants to use good manners, dress appropriately and stay out of trouble is free to do so -- and that's so radical, it just might catch on :)
