Does anyone know or has a link to, a product comparison bwteen StarDocks and WinStep Extreme? Just a functionality comparison. I am just someone who is just doing some windows shopping...lol
@BarJabba Stardock has many different applications, which ones do you want to compare with Winstep Xtreme? Anyway, you'll probably have better luck if you post that question in the Winstep or in the Wincustomize forums.
This retarded thing takes up soo damn much memory that if you game what so ever while having this open, it is choppy as hell even with 8gb of ram, 3.5 ghz processor
@danman1012 Oh really? Prove it with a screenshot of Task Manager then. WSX uses about 15-20 MB of RAM. The web browser you are using to view this alone uses about 80-100 MB to display a single web page - how's that for comparison? :-P
@neoka28 Oh, I know, Youtube made a mess of the AudioSwap feature. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the song now (it was one belonging to Track One Recordings) and Youtube, being the mess it is these days, is not letting me access the songs in the AudioSwap feature at the moment.
The problem is not making new ways to work with files and perform actions - it's getting them to work with Windows's old systems. Even complete shell replacements have functionality flaws
@Mistiestblue Not sure what you mean - Winstep Xtreme is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista and 7. Up to a few months ago, it was even compatible with Win9x/NT 4. Nobody is using the latter Windows versions anymore, though.
@JcRabbit Winstep is essentially just widgets, though. I've never used a taskbar replacement that didn't compromise in functionality - or offer nothing more than the default.
@Mistiestblue Winstep Xtreme is *so much more* than just widgets!!! Saying that is almost insulting, eheh. As for compromising functionality, look for a related video called 'Winstep Xtreme Superbar"
love this song as for the theme i think you should of spent some more time on it anyway good job doesnt look too bad linux thou still FTW windows got alot of catch up to do still in the eye candy area
In other words, you can make it as 'ugly' (for you) or as nice (for you) as you want it simply by downloading one of the hundreds of different Winstep themes freely available from the web. :-)
true. but then... instead of stuffing your windows memory and disk trying to make it look nice...... oh well i guess 'tis suitable for many people, being selfish here.
Winstep Xtreme is fully customizable. If an empty desktop with a solid color and no objects visible (except on demand) is what brightens *your* day, so be it: Xtreme can do it for you. ;-)
Oh boy. Audio track removed. For the sound track to attract the attention of WMG watchdogs, this video must be getting really popular . :-)
Ah well, their loss. Lots of people were asking me what the sound track was, which probably resulted in at least some CD sales for them. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. ;-)
dos it work better on xp than vista cos i have xp and just whanna know and so can i get the objectdocck thing not to come up at startup whit winstep? cos i have rocketdock allready and i like it more then that dock that comes whit winstep so can i turn the other dock off if so?
It works as well in XP as it does in Vista (you even get window thumbnails, although they're not 'live').
As for the dock, you can simply right click on the dock control icon -> Dock and Shelf Management -> Delete Dock.
I wouldn't do that, though, as NeXuS has features you will not find on any other docks, such as icon reflections and sub-docks (just to name a couple). :-)
Looks that way, doesn't it? But it's not true. :-)
Winstep Xtreme will run quite well even on a Win9x system with a PII processor and 256 MB of RAM (of course, you won't want to enable every little feature and effect on such a low end system).
Also, this video was meant to show off just the eye candy - you would be trully surprised at how much functionality is actually packed under that pretty face. Try it for yourself and find out. :-)
Great video :) I have couple of questions to ask. First of all do u have windows Vista? If yes can u tell me how do u do all these stuffs to get into this mode?and change it back ofc .PLZ reply quickly:)
Yes, I have Windows Vista, but Winstep Xtreme will *also* run on Win 9x, NT4, 2000 and XP.
I'm not sure if I understood your question correctly, but if you're asking how to make your PC to look like the one in the video, just download and install Winstep Xtreme from the winstep web site.
Getting back to normal Windows is as simple as exiting the program.
I *made* the program. :-) Or programs, in this case, as Winstep Xtreme is a suite of several different applications working together.
Winstep Software Technologies has been in business since 1998, in case you're wondering - and Winstep Xtreme is well worth the purchase price (or so seem to think the thousands of users who registered it already). ;-)
I started using this program on Windows XP with 1GB RAM and it run smoothly..
Now I'm using it on my Windows 7 with 2GB RAM..it is working great..thank you..

boas amigo, bom nao quero fazer disto nenhuma guerra.

Lots of unnecessary rude comments in here.
Downloaded, installed and purchased this program from Bits du Jour (for $19.95).
Having used theme programs for years, off and on (but more "off") I rate this a fantastic program.
If you like Apple's interface, for example, this program will give it to you.
It is extremely intuitive and easy to use. I can see spending hours playing with it.
I recommend it albeit his video here does not do justice to the quality of the program.
