  • why are these corporations still allowed to operate with Medicare? constantly fined? they should be cut off from being able to do business with the government since they continue the fraud & abuse practices... just like the current SEC agreements to fines for the banks & Wall St. firms who have committed fraud of their stockholders & the US public!

  • i think you guys should deregulate some more.

  • How can anyone defend the health care system in the US? I mean other than the self serving interests? And the tea baggers want the 'guvmint' out of their health care! What's wrong with this picture??

  • What is another shame is that most of this fine money went to lawyers not the people who were actually ripped off.

  • Preach Bernie!!!!!

  • 4 minutes and 33 seconds into the video, you can clearly see Sen. Dodd and whoever the other guy is making out and not giving two shits about what bernie says because they're paid not to...Sorry Bernie, but your gonna have to be alittle more intimidating, maybe hire Jesse Ventura to speak for you.

  • thank gawd for Sen. Sanders, keep fighting evil wherever you find it!!!

  • Yes,let us compete with the insurance monopolies that "we" just bailed out with tax-payer funds and get the tax-payer to pay for the creation of a government insurance program that is capable of competing with the insurance monopolies. "We the tax-payer are funding both "sides" of the competition. The parma/medic business will always continue to raise rates if a monopoly is paying the bill. Doesn't matter if it is a "private" monopoly or if it is the ultimate monopoly, a government monopoly

  • Fix the spell check - the type is too small for me to spot the errors when I typed my comment. Sorry.

  • Why doesn't CNN and the majur Sunday morning pundit shows get Bernie Sanders on the air to demonstrate to a wider audience the real truth of why the tinsurance, phamraceutical and health care industries want to torpedo an effective health care bill. If no one is able to hear him, they will have little or no understanding of what is happening

  • hey buddy let me tell you a secret, the corporations have their own safety network, and they are having a good time because nobody so far has entered in their business

  • Stunning. Keep it up Bernie, people need to know.

  • mn8aol, I have to ask again, do you get paid for each message you post? Do you work for a lobbying firm or one of the health insurance companies you want us to believe are the good guys?

  • I can tell you with confidence that your government has betrayed you. That is why I write what I write on here.

  • mn8aol Government that is privatized betrays us. When government regulates corporations and uses public treasury for public good, that is the true intent of American Constitution, not this out of control capitalism that is turning USA into a Third World Nation of extreme one per cent rich and everyone else poor or deeply in debt .

  • All countries are headed for third world status so there can then be integration or a merging together of nations. Only when the people take back their government will there be any hope to return to constitutional governance.

  • mn8aol That's what Single Payer advocates intend to do through our elected representatives, vote power back to the people and eliminate insurance corporations altogether.

  • I have a bridge on the market in Brooklyn, would you like to set an appointment to come take a look at it?

The single payer advocates are marxist/socialist/communists who are laying the groundwork for total state control.

  • mn8aol I have "healthcare" insurance during your open enrollment at work, would you like our high , er, I mean premiums deducted from your payroll? Oops , never mind, you have a pre-existing condition. Have a nice day!

  • In the same way our forefathers were willing to die for freedom, I would rather die without hospital care than live in bondage of the state. You want hospital costs to go down? End all of these nonsense wars. Or end all of the money we hand to other countries. End NASA. There are literally trillions of solutions out there that your government does not want you to consider. Why is that?

For a "been there-done that" article search Google: The Perspective Of A Russian Immigrant by SVETLANA KUNIN

  • End NASA? Oh, how short-sighted and naive. We depend on NASA for cosmological advancement in science and technology. No business is willing to take charge of a completely privatized, and virtually non-existent space exploration industry. It is simply too expensive to be a viable market. Investors would not fund it, especially in a recession. Dying instead of receiving government treatment is a sacrifice in vain. Also, I think you underestimate the power of innate human self-preservation.

  • If "humans" had any "power of self-preservation" they would not lie down while this country gradually builds a prison-state.

  • What's the goal for NASA, to take our perversions outside the planet? If you can't get it right here, why in the world would you place hope somewhere else?

  • @mn8aol Did you enjoy the 10 or 20 cents per message you got paid? Ooops that's right, you abandoned this YouTube account when it became obvious that you were trying (and failing) to sell a bunch of bullshit that only the for profit health insurance companies can benefit from.

  • @archelonprime: I'm glad someone finally said it. It must be a new cottage industry, all these corporate sponsored bloggers.

  • Thomas Jefferson loathed corporations.

"I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country. "

    Thomas Jefferson

  • Jefferson loathed tyranny. How clear does it have to be for you that the founders held that men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights; an utter contradiction of the view held by the socialist where rights are given and taken by the state.

  • mn8aol True, Jefferson loathed tyranny and corporations both. That is why he would love that we can vote for Single Payer bill , just as they voted his Public Education bill through Congress!

  • You don't know anything about Thomas Jefferson.

  • "The health care industry is fighting the president who has a free press at his beck and call, not to mention the transformational marxist "the drumbeat of America" tribal carnal ploy Nancy Pelosi is using and more. They are fighting a state takeover by these charlatans."

So the for profit health care industry are the good guys? Ahahahahaha!

mn8aol, do you get paid for each message you post? Whether you do or not, quit while you're behind, your credibility was gone quite awhile ago!

  • would it make things easier if we made it illegal to lobby congress and illegal to pay politicians and illegal to place former employees from big pharma (and the like) into positions of gverntment? Maybe over an oversimplified solution, but it would help a lot.....

  • creature70 Not sure if I want to attack lobbying per se, but I sure do want corporate campaign donations to see its demise. "Corporate personhood" should be dead.

  • In any case, I think Sanders comments here are worth listening to: antagonists here are too fixated on the issue of big government. 'Big corporation' - which is the current likely alternative is far worse.

Rhetoric concerning the free market and personal liberties against the federal government has become a dangerous distraction from the very same thing at the hands of private corporate interests.

  • Now I understand why Medicare is criticized for "costing too much"... it's because of the PRIVATE, FOR PROFIT, hospitals overcharging WE THE PEOPLE!

  • Have you ever tried to sue the government? Try doing it with healthcare run by the STATE!

  • it would probably be easier...

the "state" dosent have the money to hire the best lawyers to try to screw people out of justice...

instead of legal battles in which you or a family member might die before resolution...the gov is more likely to settle instead of fighting when they see it is more cost-effective to not fight justice...

  • If you believe that the government will take responsibility for malpractice you are mistaken. And have you read how the people in the UK are now micromanaged in what they eat, smoke, drink to prevent rising government costs. For once the government gets into the game the control only grows!

  • where did you read that....cite ur source. otherwise you just sound like a fag...

  • If more people took the time to read up on the freedoms we are losing not only here but abroad, I wouldn't have to cite sources.

Google: Food Standards Agency (FSA) micromanaging BBC

You best be careful who you call a "fag." Not everyone will give you the grace I do.

  • I "best be carefull"

i work for the gov...ive got good h insurance. and i support single payer cuz it will save us at least 350 bill a year in admin costs...

thanks for the info...ill be terrified of my candy bar intake from now on...

its nice that the "food and drink federation" provides us with the real facts...

  • Why does it not surprise me that you work for the government. You use the word "cuz" in place of "because" and your "ive" replaces the traditional "I've." You are too lazy to capitalize. You spelled careful wrong. You use an "h" to abbreviate the word "health." And I believe (not sure) your use of the word "bill" is a representation of the word "billion?" You my friend are a PERFECT illustration of what we have to look forward to if we put our trust into the hands of the state!

  • nice hissyfit...

i do that to save space...

and why does it not suprise me that youve got nothing of substance, so you attack my spelling and grammar. this is youtube not english class...

  • How do you save space by not using capital letters? If you use the word "cuz" instead of "because" and then hit two returns, you don't appear to be concerned with space; you're just lazy. It reveals your character. My argument is that over the past 30 years the state has purposely created the conditions to then come in and cry that the state should control healthcare. A part of that Hegelian-Dialectic plan of facilitating of a health care crisis has been a general dumbing down of the culture.

  • implying that im anti-intellectual cuz i dont conform to ur standards of typing is ridiculous...

im not the one spending over $1 mil a day to misinform people. the insurance/pharmaceutical/private hospital industry is...

and it appears its worked. rather than addressing substance...you are focused on my spelling and grammar and personal information like where i work.

ur complaining about the general debate being dumbed down and yet u are dumbing down this very debate we are having.

  • The health care industry is fighting the president who has a free press at his beck and call, not to mention the transformational marxist "the drumbeat of America" tribal carnal ploy Nancy Pelosi is using and more. They are fighting a state takeover by these charlatans. I'm not implying you are "anti-intellectual." I am implying that you don't strive to do and be your best typifying the Soviet-Style state worker who has no incentive to put forth any effort beyond the bare minimum required.

  • the health industry has been fighting changes like this since long before Obama was even relevant.

you are gathering that about me based on a the grammar and spelling of a couple of youtube comments...which is impossible and in itself an anti-intellectual method of making a judgement. and also, detracting from what is actually important...

  • My pointing out that you work for the government and show a lack of care for "conforming to standards" doesn't detract from my argument opposing government run health care, it epitomizes it! If you don't reflect a character which strives for a high moral standard in your own life and at the same time hold a belief that choice and competition should not be made available to the rest of us, how is this not important?

  • Research the evolution of the European common market. The EU common market was first sold to the people of individual sovereign nations as a "free trade" (steel) agreement by those who knew that eventually a supranational parliament would one day be put into place. That was the goal from the start. But they never told the people. So they clearly deceived them. The Soviets were of the best at deceiving their own people, even in contempt calling them "useless eaters."

  • mn8aol The private for-profit health INDUSTRY is not WE THE PEOPLE. These corporations have billions to throw around to market and advertise and to have TV spots against healthcare for all. The Constitution says we can vote, and vote we will for SINGLE PAYER.

  • mn8aol Your support for CEOs of corporate for-profit "wealthfare" insurance reveals your loathesome lecherous low-down lack of character.

  • I don't support totalitarian control of the people by the state. That is where we are headed. At the heart of most corporations is a socialist ideology that is no different from those in government who seek to have power over the public that is beyond reproach. Corporations and government work together, most would be appalled to know what they sponsor by giving their business to UPS or McDonalds. But if you sir want to make the arguments of a communist then be careful what you pray for.

  • mn8aol Voting for Single Payer is NOT totalitarian, in fact totalitarian societies have tendency to be Third World Nation status. Single Payer Universal Healthcare is in all free Western Industrialized Nations of world , EXCEPT for USA . Single Payer is no more "communist" than Thomas Jefferson's bill for Public Education that passed Congress. All Single Payer does is eliminate moneygrabbing middlemen, then we have MORE choices of private doctors by extending Medicare for all. Call me ma'am

  • State administered healthcare is in all socialist and communist countries, yes.

  • mn8aol Single Payer in free societies has made France number one. Socialized medicine in Communist societies has made Cuba number 39. For profit private insurance in America has made USA number 37 in overall healthcare, only two above Cuba's rank. I will pray for Single Payer, sir.

  • In whose eyes? By what comparison? Whose statistics?

  • France has gradually been giving away its sovereignty

to the European Parliament for over 30 years. Hardly an illustration of a "free" society.

  • mn8aol So you are saying that USA is communist because of military base hospitals and the VA.

  • The U.S. is well on its way to communism because the administration and the U.N. clearly are moving us in that at direction. The military by necessity is collectivist, but also has long been marxist infiltrated. Historically a strong army was not the fraud they are today. Our military has been purposely watered down; troops are asked if they would give allegiance to the U.N. and routinely asked to do joint excercises with the military of other countries.

  • White House and the pharmaceutical lobby secretly agreed to precisely the sort of wide-ranging deal that both parties have been denying over the past week. "Memo says White House agreed to oppose any congressional efforts to use the government's leverage to bargain for lower drug prices or import drugs from Canada -- and also agreed not to pursue Medicare rebates or shift some drugs from Medicare Part B to Medicare Part D, which would cost Big Pharma billions in reduced reimbursements."

  • mn8aol Corporate shackles on government has got to cease, that is why Obama's HR3200 is getting so watered down by "compromises" with GOP that Public Option is practically disappeared by corporate lobbying , again. That is why we need Single Payer HR676 INSTEAD of HR3200, to get rid of for-profit private "wealthfare" insurance corporations altogether. It is a felony in other free societies to profit off of healthcare.

  • Obama would appear to be the problem in the memo below. Free societies and felonies for free markets; is that an oxymoron?

  • Marxist shackles on government has got to cease as well.

  • "The slogans of "fairness and equality" sound better than the slogans of capitalism. But unlike at the beginning of the 20th century, when these slogans and ideas were yet to be tested, we have accumulated history and reality.... Now in 2009, I realize how unfortunate it is that many Americans do not understand how fortunate they are. They vote to give government more and more power without understanding the consequences."

-- excerpt Svetlana Kunin's " The Perspective of a Russian Immigrant"

  • mn8aolWhat this unknown immigrant clearly fails to understand is that the Constitution is based on FREE PEOPLE, not "free markets". I'll stick to Thomas Jefferson's quotes, he hated corporations!

  • Sovereign nations have traditionally protected trade with tariffs. It is part of a national defense. Free trade is nothing more than a trojan horse to cross the boundaries of nations undefended. Never before in history have the countries of the world let their guard down as they do now. It should be a big warning sign.

  • Thomas Jefferson held that school attendance should not be compulsary.

  • mn8aol Nobody HAS to go to a doctor under Single Payer either... they can choose to stay sick and die.

  • Is this what you call choice?

  • If you ma'am, want to make the arguments of a communist then be careful what you pray for.

  • mn8aol What would Jesus do? I pray for Single Payer Universal Healthcare for all.

  • I can tell you right now Jesus is against control of the state. How many Christians have died in history in the hands of those who hold to marxist ideology? Do you think Jesus supports anything rooted in marxism?

  • You, Mr. Pot smoker who works for the government Illustrate my deepest of fears of having the state administer healthcare. I will be stuck with you. I can't go anywhere else. I cannot give my business to a competitor. Welcome to the Soviet Union.

  • Dont forget the for profit nursing home 's. I looked up one of the local nursing homes corp, owners by the name of diversicare based in tennesee which made a profit of 36 million in the first quarter alone in 2009. My father died from neglect in one of these nursing home chains. OWNED BY DIVERSICARE, CORPERATE STOCK SYMBOL I THINK IS ADVOCAT NOT SURE ON THIS SYMBOL.

  • Does everyone see Chris Dodd with Dunkin Donuts foam cup right in front of him?

  • Hell yes, Senator Sanders. If only there were enough like you in the Senate.

  • This fraud is systemic in America as a whole... we also pay the highest rates for electricity, natural gas, water, telephone, cable, and internet services in the world.

  • Bernie Sanders. A true voice of the people!!!

  • Thank you Bernie, please do not give up or get bought out.

  • Go get em Bernie

    5Specter, Arlen (PA) - $112,150

  • Senator Sanders (I-VT) paid $109,486

  • so what? This is a rubbish talking point that can be rolled out as a pathetic strawman/ad hom in any politcal debate. Politicians are overpaid. We know.

Stick to the topic of disussion.

  • I stated that Senator Sanders was paid $109,485 by lobbyists in response to a comment made earlier. Someone had listed several OTHER senators who had received money from lobbyists. They forgot to include Mr. Sanders--so I did. How is this "rubbish" or "pathetic strawman/ad hom?" And who is "we?"

  • My apologies in that case, I thought you were just trundling out salary figures. 'We' is anyone jaded by political disussion.

  • What a great cut away @ 4:26 showing the corporate owned clowns yuckin' it up during a important discussion pertaining to the criminal behavior of health care insurance and pharmaceutical companies who've been ripping the U.S. taxpayer off for years. If these corporate tools (disguised at our representatives) aren't prepared to do the people's business then they should step aside and their seat filled with someone who is.

  • fried daisy. You are so right. They were joking and laughing at what Sanders was saying. Those two were senator dodd and harkin. You notice i did not capitalise their titles or names. They don't deserve any respect at all. They are whores for corporate america and take their money to vote their way. They were probably laughing, because they no that we are not going to get the health plan we deserve. We are going to get a health plan made by drug companys and insurance companys.

  • Wall-Street Health Care is ripping off the public for billions of dollars with the fake database from Ingenix. It's just disgusting. Senator Sanders, thank you but please do a video about the Ingenix Fraud.
