To think of the generation we left behind, the music so rich with soule and meaning. today, theres good music, but it doesn't deliver that same feeling. @cannibalonXthedead Royal Albert Hall, London, England -8 :00pm Monday, Feb 24th 1969. This show was professionaly videotaped along with another and rehearsals. From what I'm told the Hendrix estate has redone it all and once some final legal details are ironed out, they'll release it. A lot of the show is available on boot DVD now, but not Red House - only audio. Can't wait to see it.
@jgcaesar4 Are you positive? i've heard other recorings of the song that are dated to 2/24/1969 and they are just standard versions of this song, nothing like this.
@jgcaesar4 Oh nevermind, i assumed the start of this video was closer to the beggining to the song, but it's actually a minute in. :| thanks for the info

Red House from England records "Hendrix in the West" has always been my favorite but I am listening to this one now. It doesn't have the deepness of the version I mentioned but I am only 2 minutes in. Thanks for the psot.
Is so good I don't like it? ... About the phrasing, thats what happen when you want to express your life through guitar, Jimi said... I want that voice to be heard in notes. And it's so Jimi, Jimi is pure phrasing, sometimes you can even write lyrics based on his solos. He's telling something, thats what we like, he's no god, he's no alien, he's just a guy who knew how to manipulate that piece of amplified wood.
@MrLeftyguitarman It's available on The Jimi Hendrix "Experience" [Live at The Royal Albert Hall 2/24/69] [Soundtrack, Import]. I'm sure you can get it other places, but I know it's on this one.
When I was a kid, I once heard "An old guy, maybe 27 or so", say that he would walk 1000 miles to see Hendrix play. I didn't exactly get it for a few more years, but I know now that there are certain times when Hendrix is all that I can relate to. It's safety in a sea of chaos.
@JimmyMarshall27 As a young man J.S. Bach walked something like fifty miles to see the great organist Buxtehude. Bach said to Buxtehude after the show, "Man, I just canceled a gig to come see you play!".
shredders started showing up,in full force, in the 1980's. but their speed has never come close to jimi's melodic phrasing, manual tricks and countless twists and variations he put into his fills- to this very day. UNFRICKIN' BELIEVABLE. purple haze- Jesus saves
Jimi's natural dynamics were working with his amps beautifully--he goes from soft and sweet to strong and punchy ----only the greatest of blues players do this these days--because most guitarists are over effected which compresses the TONE AND VOLUME LEVEL to point only dynamic left is speed--- Jimi mastered this problem, (discussion omitted) but this NIGHT, he did it with just a CLEAN SIGNAL-- then, kicking in his overdrive from time to time adding the tone dynamic--Masterpiece for real....
@kimmedavid yea man. likeevery week i notice i have less and less hendrix songs on my playlist. when the revolution starts, we should take out sony first. lol

This IS an excellent version of Red House. No one is better. Thank God he's finally getting recognized as a Great Blues guitarist as well as the absolute best guitarist ever. He started the Hard Rock guitar sound and then some. Music would be totally different if not for Jimi Hendrix.
@JimmyMarshall27 Hear, here! I always think of Hendrix as a blues guitarist first and foremost, rather than as the author of "Foxy Lady and "Purple Haze".
Yeah no doubt.Royal Albert Hall.Have you heard Red House from th LA forum 1969 via the lifeline box set?Unfucking real. And better than that pretty darn good bootleg that has been floatin'for years.I think it is lke 20 minutes.Great stuff.
Another thing I notice is that you rarely ever hear someone integrate their voice with the guitar notes they're playing. It always freaked me out when he did that... in a good way.
@TheRealScotius your right man! im playing a year now, and thats where i wanna get. play exactly what i hear in my head without thinking about it. i want the guitar to be my mouth :D
@pumukellll That's the way it gets when you develop real skill. Music is an expression. I didn't even have much practice under my belt when I noticed that when angry I'd play very percussively, and when relaxed in a great mood there was more variation in some respects (I was a drummer) and a lot more rhythm. And that was just as a beginner. I didn't really stick with it and am so rusty now I do well to keep a rhythm, but it sounds like you're well on your way on guitar.

Isn't it great, he's not following anybody, just out front blazing his own trail, pretty amazing stuff.

I really like this version too but it's not the one off my 'albert hall experience' cd? ...is there another recording at the albert hall or is this not from there? My live recording from the albert hall was 24 feb 1969....it's similar but slower and the recording has a differenttone/mix to it.

This was recorded at The Albert Hall London.

This is a pretty damn brilliant version of red house, Mr Hendrix never ceases to amaze me! He's just the best musician of all time fullstop!
