@mrmactknife I don't hate the engine sound, i don't remember if i could lower the sound, but this version was awesome too. the original 3.5" was my first experiencing gaming on pc, that times were my best time playing on pc, no other games are so incredible as the x-wing, tie fighter and x-wing alliance saga
See i never used the beam weapon. I would just transfer all energy so that i had extra pop to engines. And flying with Vader was always incredible. Tie Defender: WHAT A SHIP!
wow i didnt know that you fly so fast in the old xwing games... at 9:20 where the tie flies to the modified nebulon fregatte he is 5 times faster than you are in xwing alliance.... omg i have to play xwing again xD where is my old dos pc?^^
Tie Fighter was an awesome game... & especially the Tie Defender (with MK2-wings ... not the models with Interceptor-wings, that you find as pictures nowadays)
... flying @272 with all power to the engine + dropping heavy bombs (+10)... then the bombs were even faster than advanced missiles (280) xD twas sooo coool

Oh man I miss this so much. I would kill for a modernised version, with new graphics and sound but the same gameplay. Damn this game is in my top 5 games ever.
I was actually disappointed you couldn't kill Vader in this mission. I know he's 'the chosen one', but even he should die to 6 proton torpedoes in his back.
Though I agree, at the time it was just about the awesomeness of flying with Vader. And later saving the Emperor. Great story line this game.
You could actually destroy him. You needed to Ram his ship with yours until it blows up. Have to constantly recharge your shields so you don't die first but you could kill him. Very hard to do though.
What makes this mission awesome is that Vader is actually present. One of the objectives is to ensure that he survives, but in fact he can't even get destroyed.
anybody knows a mod to play in wide screen? it could be awesome, i love love LOVEEE THAT DAMN GAME!!!

The original 3.5" disk release is the best version of this game, the awesome iMuse system is sorely missed.

Shooting down formations of tie bombers was always a blast cuz they almost NEVER evaded. Just started squirming a little bit.
