Thanks heaps for whacking this up on the Tube !! I have an mp3 version from limewire, but have never come across it anywhere else, and being an Aussie I'd never heard the song before, but I love the Hootie version !! I had heard of Tom Waits tho......
I have always been a big Hootie fan and when I heard Darius was going solo AND country I have to admit I was skeptical, but I've listened to a few of his songs and his voice is STILL amazing!!!! He sounds good in any genre!!! Best of luck w/your new country album!!!
yeah, I saw hootie in Westbury, and that was an excellent show! Even though I really wanna see Darius Rucker with his country setlist, I'm really gonna miss Hootie, and I hope they go on tour soon!
I will be seeing Darius Rucker in October at Konocti Harbor when he opens for Rascal Flatts! I can't wait! If you bought his cd online when it first came out he sends you an autographed lyric booklet in the mail! He's awesome!
Some of you are confused... Closing Time is a song... but it's not whats they are singing here... its only a conincidence that closing time is a lyric from this song as well... the song played here is "I hope that I don't fall in love with you. It's extra confusing because "I hope that I don't fall in love with you" is the 2nd track on the album Closing Time...
I love the song, Yes the music does sound like Tom waits song which is a instrumental. How ever why are you haters out there hating on Hootie? THey are a great band! WHy are you haters even trippin on them useing his tune for one of there songs? That is one of the best compliments a musian can give to a fellow musian, Keep up the good, No Great work Hootie and the Blowfish....... Fro a loyal fan Hooo RAh!!!!!
this song is really called "I hope that i dont fall in love with you", if u dont beleive me just take a look at their album Scattered, Smothered and Covered from 2006.
now i hope all of u poser losers know that tom waits was the genious who actually wrote the song. it was his first album he made. hootie is not smart enough to write a song like that.
In case you havent noticed, this video is with Hootie, not Tom Waits. If we cared about him writing it then we would search that. If u wanna talk about him, find his video of this.
Isn't this song called " I hope that I don't fall in love with you"? I think Closing time is an instrumental piece at the end of the album. Great song, good ol' Hootie!
I guess the song is called tht by the person that originally came out with the song, but I have been going to Hootie concerts for years, and know the band members pretty well and they refer to the song on set lists etc. as Closing Time. So since this is Hootie performing it, I listed it using the name they do.
Your right closing time is an instrumental piece on the "Closing time" Cd. I got the cd for christmas and saw it on there great piece in it's own right.
My pleasure! Hootie rocks!! This is by far one of his best! Seen him 6 times now and met them enough times they know me now! If ever you get the chance to see them live you won't be disappointed!
Actually I have seen them live! Orlando, FL 2006... I waited almost 13 years to hear 'Let Her Cry' live! I'd love to see them again...my boyfriend at the time was a bit drunk (to say the least) and wouldn't stop talking!!!! Not just to me but to anyone that was near us! So, I don't recall hearing this song.... which I feel is a complete injustice! lol It's been almost 2 yrs since the concert and we still talk about how I almost missed 'Let Her Cry'...lol
Its a Tom Waits Song called Closing Time,,, But this is a great vesion and I actually like this one better.

@pearljam96 - "I HopeThat I Don't Fall In Love With You" by Tom Waits...it's a cover.

@Comax2003 Agree it's a cover and Tom's is better. However: give Darius Rucker credit- he gave Tom Waits accolades for this song.
