I went to the Blue Lagoon in 1992 and as far as I remember it was a shed with changing rooms, then you went out into the lagoon! Still amazing though and even better now, by the looks of it.....wonderful :)
how can water be 240 degrees if water turns to steam at 100 degrees? and i know shes using celsius because 37 degree water in fahrenheit would be extremely cold.

So amazing. I stayed at the clinic which was so rad as you have a private lagoon at night and can float on tyres and look at the pink iridescent clouds at night. The water is the most unnatural looking blue, you have to see it to believe it, simply one of the most special places i have ever been. Love it! xx
@joshuaryung, it wasnt crowded when i went which i think was a monday. only about 70-80 people there. blue lagoon is brilliant but also the golden circle tour is a must, gulfoss waterfall is amazing. hope you enjoy it.
Just returned from Iceland myself. The Blue lagoon is amazing. Rain or shine you can go in. the black sand in near the front. It changes to a soft white silica mud further out. Take advantage of the lava steam cave, waterfall and regular steam room/sauna when you are there. Also there is a waterfall that can give a great massage naturally. Bring your own towels and save a couple of Euro/Krona!
the end of this vid cracked me up. i was over in the canadian rockies, and we were in the backcountry. i thought it would be funny to dive in to a river to wake myself up as i had a few real bad nights sleep. my body basically went stiff and i couldn't move lol, and i kid you not - my balls were in my throat!
Me and my mum was there in July 2010. It was the best trip I´ve ever made. The Blue Lagoon is paradise on earth. Iceland is just wonderful, beautiful...We´re absolutely going back! :-D

@lonewulf44 the airfare went up after the volcano went off. dont let that put you off, if you have an interest in iceland you will love it when you get there. there is so much to do, the blue lagoon is a must but theres so much else besides. do it, its a fantastic amazing country.

When I went (late June) it was stagnant pond GREEN. Apparently its only really blue in winter. Mind you this was my only disappointment, the rest of Iceland was well up to expectation
I just got back from Iceland and the Blue Lagoon, both are absolutely brilliant, get yourselves there. The sand on the bottom is actually black with silver specks in it, you cant see this from the bottom so when you pull a handful up its a bit strange.
I still dont care to go there because I dont see any reason to. If I am going to spend my money on a trip to a different country, Iceland would not be on that list. If I got to go to Iceland for free full expences payed I might, but if I had to pay there are tons of better places to go then Iceland.
@ElBestia73 Airfare seems really expensive ... as in relative to other similar distances. Is that the case, or am I just not looking at the right places?
@Lamakill3r A lot of people come here en route from Rekjavik back to the airport and thus end up staying about three hours but most would rather stay much longer. The nearby hotels are pricey according to Lonely Planet . You can check out hostels.com for pricing of local hotels. I went two times visiting on my 1st and last day in Iceland. Your skin will wrinkle after a couple hours but you will not want to leave. Its the closest I got to heaven on earth. You will love this place.
It mostly has a sandy bottom so you can walk across it. There are some small stones and lava rock but they are tumbled so it doesn't hurt your feet. The closer you get to the vent the warmer it gets. Can't remember the exact cost but I think it was around $40.
It is really cool and a must see. The surrounding Lagoon area is unbelievably picturesque.
The entire country is stunning and it lacks the commercialization that ruins most sites. (Look how close he is to the geyser)
