At that temperature every living native plant species on our island would be killed outright. The exotic plants we grow would be nuked instantly! We don't drop to much below freezing here for any length of time.
You wouldn't want to live in SW Wyoming then--wind chill temps for 5 months of the year there stay below 0F day and night, and often become brutal for -45 to -60F wind chill temps at least several times each winter.
I could imagine how cold it can get there. Check out where I live in Canada and you can see what's been blooming here for the last couple of months. I upload new vids. daily. Cheers
Yeah it is beautiful there too! Same here in Portland, OR--we've been in the 50's and 60s the last month ( Fahrenheit ).
I think it's great that you guys had the Olympics this year, but they should have chose Toronto or Ottawa or some other colder city in eastern Canada. Western Canada is too warm and mild ( like here )
I think you guys are only maybe 5-8 degrees cooler than it is here. I've been up to Vancouver several times and it's always about the same weather as Portland or Seattle
I like Portland, one of my favourite cities. I have been there many times. One of our favourite vacations is to drive to the Oregon coast. We stay at Seaside and then drive south from there. There use to be a great German restaurant in Portland by the name of Rienlander. Hope I spelled that correctly. Do you know the place?
Yeah, Portland is great as long as you can have a job. I moved here from WY 16 yrs ago during the dot-com boom and then, Portland had the #2 best economy in the nation. Now it is near the bottom 20.
I've heard of the Rienlander, but I think there is one downtown and another one out in Hillsboro ( west of the city. )
Yeah, the OR coast is really nice! I like the WA coast too--especially Ilwaco and Long Beach, WA.
I was last in Vancouver about 5 yrs ago--went there for a concert.
I have been to Edmonton a few times, but only in the Summer months. My wife's aunt and uncle lived right across the street from West Edmonton Mall so I have been there lots. I rode the roller coaster a few times too, lol The winters there would be much to cold for this guy.
Well I can take down to about 30 or 35F ( zero C ) without a jacket for about half an hour, but once it gets above 85F, it is getting too hot for me LOL
How's the economy going in Canada these days--other parts worse than some or is it all the same across the country?
The economy is actually doing pretty good now and they keep telling us that we are out of the recession. I've never been without work here. I have a good government job working for the Parks Dept. I live on a small island off of the south west coast. I agree with you on the temps. too, 85 F. and I'm roasting and temps. a hair below freezing in the winter are just about right.
wow, I've been the last 15 yrs, about 3 yrs of that combined, unemployed.
Thinking of moving up there to Canada before I get too much older, but the immigration process is difficult, and I heard once you reach age 49, it is near impossible unless you have a spouse there.
One thing you never hear of up here is foreclosures. I don't know anyone who has lost a home due to tough times. I work two jobs and I run my own business on the side selling palms and seeds. I'm so busy I can't keep up with it. My wife runs her own licensed Daycare and she works at the local cinema a couple of nights a week. I have never had a shortage of work. Everyone I know is working and honestly I don't know anyone who is unemployed here.
wow, are you serious? Home foreclosures is a common daily thing here in the states now. Some states like Nevada are really, really bad!
My older brother lives in Vegas and he shown me where within a square mile of his house, there were 13 homes up for foreclosure. There are quite a few in Oregon, but not as bad as some of the "warmer climate" states.
I've been unemployed for awhile myself. You looking for help? :-)
hey, I wanted to ask you further about the economy up there. Can you send me a message on youtube here, cuz when I try to send one to you, it says it won't allow it?
wow you need a better camera hey?

oh, also I tried to comment on your page, but do you have channel comments shut off?
portlanddem 2 years ago
I didn't realize I had it shut off. Now I have to figure out how to turn it back on, lol
bj616 2 years ago
LOL
Yeah, usually I just leave mine on unless someone starts spamming my channel.
portlanddem 2 years ago
Try and leave one now. I just reset the comments. I'm curious to see if it works now.

have you ever been over to Edmonton?
I'd like to go check out that massive shopping center they have sometime just to say I've been there LOL
Looks like it'd be a great place any other time except the winter.
