Pleco attacking my bamboo shrimp!!! (kidding, they're pals)

think i could make bamboos work in my tank? i have 2 plecos and soon i will get 2 dojo loaches. i want bamboos too tho. those r they only fish i would really worry about eating the shrimp. tho i have more than just those fish.

haha I read the title and was like "Oh no!" because Im looking to get a bamboo shrimp and was worried about my Rhino Pleco and him getting along, so been reading and watching video's on set up and the like. Good to see they get along! :D haha

I love Bamboo Shrimp. Just got it today for my 46 gallon tank. They're interesting little things, huh? Ghost Shrimp are good too! Have you ever seen one eat? You can watch the food go in through it's stomach. XD

The Pleco isn't eating algae off the back of the shrimp. Both are turning 3 yr old soon and are doing great. Thanks for your comments!!!!

It looks like your pleco is big enough to create a decent current with its suction-like mouth, and the shrimp is taking advantage of the tiny particles that pass by its filters. This is what you could call commensalism in ecology.

what pleco do you have , i have 1 large common pleco and a small one then i have 1 albino pleco :) , my big pleco had a ghost shrimp as a freing but liked him to much and ate him lol

you do realise your pleco is probs just sizing up the shrimp? despite what people say they do not only eat algea they are partial to meat, your pleco is waiting to be big enuf or hungry enuf to eat shrimpy =(

@Bunnywinston As far as I know, what plecos eat depends on the species. Some (a majority that you can buy) feed just on vegetables and algae, others are omnivores and will eat meat though I've never seen one like that, and even others eat wood. Just my $00.02

This amazes me. Here I have a video of a bamboo shrimp hanging out underneath the mouth of a pleco 25x his size. I'm betting there is not one remotely like it on youtube. And yet it receives a 3.5 rating. What are people looking for for? Do they perhaps want to see my pleco singing on Britain's Got Talent???
