I think there should be an entire genre named after you, because there's nothing out there like your music, refreshing, soothing, you sir are an absolute legend!
@AClassOldie Thank you very much! RCA in New York told me in 1972 after a 2 hour session in their studio that they liked the music but they didn't have a genre to present it to the public or to promote it. With my 24 years of age and spunk told them to start a new one, but they just laughed. That is when I decided to go to Europe. I still consider myself basically a classical guitarist who writes his own music for the instrument. David
Hello David my name is Mike Qualey and I play the guitar as well albeit I'm not a classical player. I just thought it was strange to see another Qualey guitar player. What are the odds?
I love this song, david! my first song was "Santa Cruz" than "Opus20" and right now I'm learning "Homefeld Suite". I never thought that a Old man (:D) could be so inspiring for a 17 year old teenager!
I have been a fan of your work for a VERY long time, I just never knew who you were. This is probably my favorite song that you've done. Keep up the excellent work.
Your 'Only for Guitar' sheet music was an inspiration to me years ago and this was my favourite. Great to see and hear you playing it at last. Gerry Dempsey
No, but really, as a 21 year old in love with music, and with no real knowledge of classical guitar, I absolutely love your compositions. My favorite parts of this piece are in bar 6 (if you're in 6:8 time, i guess) that triplet part, the note you play in the bass during the triplets makes that part so nice, and also the part between 1:12 and 1:16, i guess bar 24-25?
anyways i love it. sorry i always post comments like "yo dawg, oh snap!" but i still mean what i say
David, having played classical guitar for a few years in my teens, my guitar went under the bed when my two children were born. It was some 20 years later that hearing "Only for Guitar" inspired me to rescue my guitar and start playing again. Thanks for ever for that.
My personal favourites (apart from "Opus 20") are "Solo for Strings" and "Sunset". I learned "Sunset" just before my Mum passed away and its sweet melody will always remind me of her. Any chance you could post these pieces?
David, it's a great honor to finally meet and listen to you on youtube. I've listened to your music and arrangements for thousand of times, and never get bored!
Hope one day you would visit us at New York City Classical Guitar Society in New York !
Dear David, I'm very happy to see you here on YouTube. Since I heard "Only Guitar" I'm a real fan of your music. I can't describe what this songs mean to me. It's always a great pleasure to hear and see you play. Have a happy new year and many thanks for sharing your music, Bernd.
This song is simply wonderful! Both of my brothers and my guitar teacher (Patrick Fehr, I think you know him) are able to play it, but you play it better than they, I think. I have so much fun to listen to your music :) So great!
I'm not even a classical guitar fan, but your playing is so tasteful and your compositions can be so beautiful. It's the kind of stuff that can appeal to any music lover, guitar player or not. I listened to someone playing your A Song Not Forgotten and that just blew me away, I'd love to see you play it on here.
Thank you for the compliment. Maybe 1 day I will record "A Song..." , but maybe you will have to attend one of my concerts to hear it for sure...? ciao for now, David Q.
Beautiful and haunting, David, just like opus 22. If you come to NYC, you can hear my friend Iman play the latter as well as some of your wonderful arrangements--Claire and Close to You, I think.
best, Mark G. (PS Check out our version of Nino Rota's A Time for Us by 3/4 Guitar. I'm the guy on the left.
Hi Mark, Thanks for the greetings and I heard from Iman about him playing my arrangements and compositions. Hope to one day hear them. Maybe see you all at the CGSNY one day. Ciao for now, David
i love this song :) i remember playing it when i took guitar lessons some time ago... but of course i never got the hard parts as fluently as in the video :)
youtube's really awsome, due to it i can watch the master :) (are you going to upload opus 22? that has been my favorite^^)

Notice effectively no one will even try his Opus 22 except for 1 young fellow. I would love to see you, David, put that one out here.....

meine verehrung
