1948 Academy Award Winning Song. Twelve years before I was born. I thought it was just released when I heard it for the first time when I was 5 ! Love this song.My grand nieces love to sing it too !
@CptMole Before Mafia 2, I probably would've dismissed this great song... particularly compared to the more mainstream 50's hits... but after Mafia 2, i found myself playing this song (among others, extracted from the game) as I drive around in my car... in real life... truly a great driving song!
Look at those sweet, classy moves she's got going. Love 'em! Makes me sway right along. That's light years from they way skanks like Britney Spears spreads wide and humps their sweaty groins on whatever is available.
This is a nice and polite, know your place in society song. Sentiments which are quite apparently is alive and well judging by comments here. How very sad for you then. Thank Goddess women have moved on and up from this. Fuck male white corporate western oppression.
To all you pro wrestling fans: This was the #1 song in the USA when John Sutton came into the world (January 15, 1949). He would later become a manager known as Sir Oliver Humperdink. Dinah & John, we miss you both. You were both good at what you did. Thank you both for the memories. We will never forget you.
Thanks for your comment, I'm a proud Aussie, but I would NEVER refer to you guys as Ugly Americans.....hell, I drive a Cadillac for God's sake!! AND one from Dinah's era too...a 1960 Coupe De Ville! Long live the glorious era of the 60's!
What a terrific talent. Dinah had a very entertaining show. She did a wonderful job with this tune. This was America at its best. All the musicians are clean cut and formally dressed. It is a beautiful thing.
Thank you so much. One gets so used to the ease with which she sings that one can forget just how terrific and how professional she was. How she stood next to that guy and did not corpse !!
Did Dinah Shore ever sing with Howard Keel because I would love to hear that
She's using an early wireless microphone. Pretty cool for its time. One frequency off and it would have probably picked up Burbank police department calls ...
I agree with you. In those days, no one in his/her right state of mind would go out without dressing "properly". We learned "good manners" in school (not that we always applied those but...). You had to show respect to people, your word was very important, etc...
We were not called "ugly Americans" by other countries either. How sad.

Dinah Shore (born Frances Rose Shore) was born on this date in 1916. {Feb 29th}
Sadly, Ms. Shore passed away on February 24th, 1994... May she R.I.P.

Hear Dinah on "Ed Wynn's Piano Bike" her TV debut early 1950s singing
"Shine on Harvest Moon" and "Tea for Two". She is great currently on You Tube

Actually Bob Hope sang the song in the movie... So it's a parody of male white corporate oppression.

Actually the song is nice, too. It's just that ignorance and hate anger me to distraction. Sorry.

Nice singing though.

True ! A time that was and never will be ever again in America.
This country has been spoiled OR "sperled" as Ed Norton would say.
What a shame, that this music has been replaced by C rap !
