I'm so happy to hear there are sanctuaries that don't encourage breeding, I hate how zoos do that. I'm so happy little Mel found suitable parents, how come the sanctuary does not try castration instead of visectomy, we do it with dogs and cats why not chimps? Either way, very glad there was a happy ending, I watch vids of your sanctuary all the time, great place.
@globalchaos1984 because it would be like spaying women, they would suffer from osteoporosis due to lack of oestrohens (like women in menopause),there is not reason to sterilize both,if males got vasectomy females wont get pregnant anyway (unless vasectomy was not performed correctly.
that's a rather egoistical approach to the problem. What you are saying is that we save human life before all other life. You don't approach the real problem which is human over-population of this planet. We are increasing at such a fast rate that out planet will soon be too small for us. Food production cannot follow, water will be rare. What do we do? Nothing to curb the population growth. Humans on this planet will die out in perhaps less than a century from now. sad & Inevitable.
yes you are. its are fault this majestic animals are dieing. we are taking there homes and tunring it into bloody farm land and chopping it down for wood. we should be saving these creatures not trying to harm or kill them.
Yes... since human beings are the ones destroying the earth... to say that we are worthier simply because we are the stronger species shows arrogance. A living being's worth only as its ability to appreciate and preserve mother nature.. otherwise... it's worth less than a fucking chimp.
You mean to turn them to Zombies so that you can dominate them? Leave them as nature desired them to be. How are you sure you are more intelligent than them? Can u live in the wild jungle and survive they can. To every species to its intelligence, you can't compare them to you because they don't belong to ur society. They are meant to live in the wild.
OMEGA3 TO CHIMPS THAT'S AN ANTAGONIST. Don't jeopardize their system please, leave them alone, we humans have tampered with our healths by taking chemically processed food and medication that have destroyed our immunity system and expose us to different kinds of viruses. They live on fruits. Our civilization is nothing but destructive. I don't agree with this imprisonment either, set them free in the wild when they are alright, thats their natural habitant
chimps are cannibals. Once they hit a certain age, they become aggressive. It is not a matter of "if", its about "when". Has anyone ever been able to find out what happened to the lady in connecticut who travis the chimp attacked? I heard something about her being in a coma...the owner of travis should be put in jail. I heard that the owner wants to get another one, saying it was a freak accident! CRAZZZZZY.
if you take one of these from the wild and make them your pets you will be bound to them to care for them for as long as they live. your action will have disrupted the natural balancing mechanism of nature for these creatures.
Additionally, unless you have a LOT of money and time, your life will be hell. As babies they cry often and as they get older, they get very strong and enjoy things like tipping over refrigerators. You are very right my friend, Chimps are not good candidates for house pets.
Yes they're 4 times stronger than a human when they grow up. if one really loves these creatures it's better to support the finances for the care of one chimp of one's liking at a sancrtuary and never move it to one's own house.
dont you see some of these are getting extinct the more people who take them the more will leave the world. its not a puppy you can get in a store, these are wild animals who need o be left alone. its almost like saying you want a pet bear which would be cool but hey they need to live.
Please don't buy a monkey for your friend ; IT IS NOT A PET ! I know they are super cute but they are also wild and are a life long comitment ( chimp live up to 50 years !)
Thank you so much for the video about Mel. Please everyone contact your Representatives, and Senators ask them to vote yes on "The Great Ape Protection Act" We need to get ALL the chimpanzees out of the laboratories.
Go to "Release and Restitution for Chimpanzees". They have made it so easy for you to vote, and send messages to Congress. We can make a difference for the Chimpanzees, and other animals.
Little Mel, if you had to find yourself in a sanctuary you were lucky it was this one. Commendable that this sanctuary spays and neuters. :) She was just meant to be. Ideally, sanctuaries wouldn't be needed of course.
oh yeah by the way.. when they get older and start ripping you apart *whispers ( they start with your balls ) look it up

I wouldn't recommend adopting a chimp for someone else. Adoption is something you do if YOU want to keep and take care of the animal.
