  • your blue damsel and clown dont fight or pick eachother? Hows your tang doing?

  • hey you should get a vegi clip and some seaweed for the tang they lovee seaweed and its part of there diet

  • @ReefAdvicer see my recent vids

  • How is the little guy doing today? Is he eating and doing better? Also, did you test the water again today and what are the parameters reading? Please make a video update of him eating and showing signs of good health so I can sleep better at night lol. Peace!

  • @newyorksteelo he is doing great, the parameters are perfect and he eats like a pig, no regrets on buying him, the only thing is that the stripe on his side is visable (a sign of stress), but its probably b/c hes new to the system, i put up a vid like 20 mins ago, check it out!!!

  • you should gewt more live rock in there man!

  • @ReptiCon725 yea i know, im workin on it.

  • i reccomend you getting him some live seaweed. i perfer ulva. just google it. my tang goes crazy over the stuff. mine was that size when i first got him and now he is about 8" and a fat cow. that dried seaweed will do for now but it dosent have the things the fish needs to stay alive for a long time. mine is almost 6 years old and he has had fresh live seaweed for his whole life. its 15 bucks a pound at reefs2go(dot)com.abd it will live in your sump

  • My friend, the best advice I can give you or anyone else staring out in this hobby is to have patience, and then some more patience. In this hobby, good things take a long time to happen, but bad things happen in an instant. Keep us updated on your tang. I really do hope he is a fighter, healthy and makes it. Keep us posted!

  • I was wondering how your tank looks so clean without the golden brown diatoms all ovet the rocks. It's because your tank hast cycled yet. There are 3 ways to cycle a tank. 1. add a piece of dead shrimp in the tank and let it decompose. 2. the use of uncured live rock wich has alot of death in it due to transport. and 3. adding a few damsil fish so they can pee and poo in the tank and begin the cycle. Damsils are very hardy and some may survive the tank. Cont....

  • @newyorksteelo I let an uncooked shrimp decompose, then i added the clown, a week or two later i added a chromis and the diatoms began to disappear and now its day 30 and the diatoms are gone.

  • Give him time to aclimate to his new soroundings. He may not eat at all from that clip you have because it is a clown fish clip an he may think he is eating it from the mouth of a clown fish. Try getting a clear clip or nudge the seaweed inbetween rocks. Also, feeding him a big piece of romanian lettuce can intice him to begin eating but use the lettuce for a few days only to get him eating. Romanian lettuce is non nutricious for him. Try brune shrim as well. Good luck!

  • @newyorksteelo LOL really the clownfish thing...i tried brine, i just think its too early tho

  • @ryjack26 Yeah, I had that clip when I first started in this hobby and I was like WTF, why is he not eating it. Having this clip may make it longer for him to eat alltogether. My friend ray (the one that I did the lighting video because of his algae problem) has a yeallow tang for a few months that has never eaten from the same clip.

  • nitrate/nitrite-0

    PH-8.1

Ammonia-.1-.15 (im doin a large water change now)

  • @ryjack26 OMG you have amonia. Oh my! Amonia is extremely toxic to the fish and he may very well die. During the cycle process you should not perform water changes or you are slowing down the cycle process. Poor little fellow :(

  • @newyorksteelo I just did a 15 gallon water change today and i did the same two days ago, its prolly all gone now, it is cycled, I have no idea why i had ammonia, wierdd.

  • @ryjack26 You cannot do a waterchange when you have amonia my friend. Doing a water change means amonia will come back and fast. The reason why you dont want to do a waterchange is because you want amonia and nitrite to be in your system so that the BENEFICIAL BACTERIA NEEDED can grow to numbers where no matter how much amonia or nitrite is produced, the bacteria eat it faster than it is produced. Doing a water change is hindering the bacteria from growing.

  • @newyorksteelo well i have a situation here...suggestions?

  • @ryjack26 Take this fish back to the LFS and cycle your tank properly. Beleive it or not, it is a good thing to see your tank all ugly and brown after the cycle. This means that your tank can now handle the bio load. Did you lkeave the seaweed overnight? Everytime you add a new fish to your tank there will be a mini cycle. But, when the tank is able to handle the biolaod, the only signs of a cycle will be some more brown algae. No amonia or nitrite will be present.

  • @newyorksteelo its been cycling for a month, many people have added a tang afer a month, the diatoms are supposed to go away afer a cycle, the seaweed was put in a couple of hours ago, isnt only toxic depending on what your PH is?

  • @ryjack26 My friend, my advice to you comes from someone that has been there done that, and believe me when I tell you that I have nothing but the best of intentions for you to be successfull and for your animals to thrive and survive. If you have signs of amonia then your tank is NOT done cycling and your fish will get amonia poisoning. This is why the use of good quality live rock is so important.

  • @newyorksteelo what are signs of the fish having ammonia poisoning

  • @ryjack26 Behavior is unatural, the slime coat that protects their body is gone and the fish get ich soon thereafter, not eating, swimming sideways or updside down, death just to name a few. And I should point out that all of these signs are slow to show and take time. It's like me sticking you in a sealed house that has very little gass leaking from the stove. You wont die right away but when the gas grows more and more in concentration, you will die eventually.

  • @newyorksteelo i should try to get some sand or something from a mature system!?

  • @ryjack26 Doing this can help speed up the cycle and may help out. Also, getting some used filter media from the LFS can help as this contains the bateria needed in high numbers. My friend, at the end of the cycle, your tank should look really ugly anf full of golden brown algae. And when this happens. Dont clean it, this golden brown algae grows because there are nitrates in your system and they eat it.

  • @newyorksteelo i didnt clean the diatoms, they just disapeared, on the ammonia test it was really hard to tell between the 0 and the .25, it may just be a reading error, b/c this random ammonia spike is really wierd at one month.

  • @ryjack26 My friend, I have been following your videos since day one. In none of your videos have i seen your tank turn brown after the cycling process and your first video with this tank was added 3 weeks ago according to your channel. In my tank, my cycle anded after 7 days but this was because I added 100 pounds in one shot of uncured good quality live rock. In your case, your cycle may take longer and you lack more live rocks.

  • @ryjack26 I would test it again, and then again to make sure that amonia is zero. There is no arguing the fact that your tank has been up for a month and the cycle is done. If the test kit reads signs of amonia then your tank is NOT cycled yet end of story. No questions asked. Your cycle will be fully done when there is no signs of amonia or nitrite in your system, only nitrates which is tolerable by your animals.

  • @ryjack26 I know you saw my videos on Freshwater VS Saltwater cause you commente on them but why didnt you listen to my statements about amonia and nitrite being toxic to the fish? Signs of amonia means your tank is just startung the cycling process an it can take up to a month, sometimes more for the tank to cycle. That poor little fellow is probably burning right now.

  • u said ur parameters are all good~can u tell me what they r? Nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, ph?
