  • YOU SHOW ME THE ERROR OF MY WAYS OH WISE ONE...lolz that explains alot thanks for the class I should kno this being im a flightattendant but as you kno when we merger Northwest into Delta we took in alot of ther DC-9-50 fleet and I have done a few trips here and there on the dc-9 thanks for the updated info!!!

  • Hey why does the DC-9 Make the warning noise before engine start and the MD-88 7 90 Do not ???? Nice vid Sn:

  • @MrGarland23 It's not a "warning". Actually, it is an interference generated by the oscillator in the ignition exciter, whose purpose is to fire the igniter plugs in the combustion chambers. That interference is produced in any ignition exciter, but an EMI filter should normally prevent it from leaving the unit. If the filter is defective or poorly designed, the interfering signal may couple onto the DC bus powering the PA, thus becoming audible. Depending on the design of the bus

  • @MrGarland23 on the aircraft, it might even couple onto the bus feeding the COM radios, becoming audible over radio transmissions taking place while the engine is being started, or during "continuous relight" phases of the flight (for example, takeoff run, approach, flight into clouds), when the ignitors are continuously firing to quickly recover from a "flameout" in the unlucky case one occurs. Cheers! :o)

  • @MrGarland23 OOPS! Sorry, I meant "flying through RAIN", not "into clouds"! Time to go to sleep! :o)

  • Wow- thanks for the great video- love the JT8D's and the DC9.... such a great pairing. I

  • @dpcoffeyjr I agree

  • I love detroit

  • i would be shitting my self on that! i was worried on a 737-300!

  • @Aviationnation10 over what?

  • @PilotUTA it being so old

  • @Aviationnation10 An old plane is just as safe as a new one if properly maintained. You only need to be worried about the age of a plane if you're in Iran, where there are no spare parts.

  • @jetfreak4 The older the plane more Pressurasiton cycles (Spelled wrong I know)

  • @Aviationnation10 The DC-9s are still well within their pressurization cycle capacities. There are things called maintenance checks which certify that these planes are safe to fly. It is a rare occurence that a plane fails due to its age...much more common is pilot error or improper maintenance. I would still fly on a DC-9 today. Delta wouldn't operate these birds if they were unsafe.

  • @Aviationnation10 I don't know what you're trying to say. Yes, I know that every plane doesn't have an infinite lifespan. But to say the DC-9s are dangerous aircraft is bullshit. Any plane, if properly maintained, can continue to fly. We have things in maintenance called D checks or C checks that keep aging aircraft safe to fly and extend their lifespans. No airline, except Iran Air that i'm aware of, flies planes to the brink of their deaths. The DC-9s are extremely reliable.

  • @jetfreak4 Reliable? then how come it is known for being un-reilabile 976 Produced and Deaths 2,135, I'm sorry but anyone that says its reliable is lieing

  • The DC-9 was produced at a time when accidents happened more often. The '60s, '70s, '80s, and even the '90s all had a much higher rate of accidents than in the 2000s....technology has now advanced to a point where accidents are rare. Also, all the DC-9 accidents I've ever read about were either due to pilot error or due to the weather...aircraft collisions and weather, as well as many other forces causing accidents, were not nearly as well known 45 years ago.

  • @jetfreak4 No just no...

  • @Aviationnation10 I'd like you to look up the number of fatal accidents happening in the U.S. over the last ten years. You will see that the last truly fatal one was the Airbus A300 in JFK. No commercial airliner has gone down since in the U.S. I've got two different books, one called Mayday!, another called Emergency Landings. If you think that I'm making anything up, check accident history over the past 50 years, and name me one that pertained to the DC-9's design.

  • @jetfreak4 That was nothing to do with a problem with the aircraft,There have been numerous near misses since then your comment doesn't really seem to have a point

  • @Aviationnation10 Fine, you have all the answers...google DC-9 safety and click on a site called airsafe. Those will show you all the DC-9 accidents that have ever taken place. rarely if ever has the DC-9 itself contributed to the crash...you will find most of the accidents attributable to pilot error or storms...in addition many of the DC-9s that crashed later on were flown by poorer countries like Yemen, Mexico, etc. Pilots tend to be of lower quality from these countries.

  • @Aviationnation10 Finally, the DC-9 is the 15th safest airliner to fly on of all time. It has approximately one crash per million hours of flight time. How that is dangerous I wouldn't know.

  • @jetfreak4 Everyone knows the DC9 has a poor history look it up...

  • @Aviationnation10 Let me ask you something...if a car happens to be driven frequently by bad drivers that crash it, and there is nothing wrong with the car itself, is the car unsafe? That's the same thing with the DC-9. The DC-9's accidents occured either due to pilot error, bombings, or problems which were easily preventable and not related to the aircraft itself. The DC-9 never had an accident due to mechanical failure or one which caused it to be grounded.

  • @Aviationnation10 The 1960s and 1970s, even the 1990s had much higher rates of aviation accidents than ones that happened today. Piloting skills, aircraft technology, and understanding of the weather are much greater than even twenty-five years ago...so much greater it's ridiculous. But since you obviously seem convinced that the DC-9 is dangerous regardless of what caused its crashes, I'm wasting my time even helping you to see the error of your ways. So long retard.

  • Soon to be history, nice catch. Did it do a trust reverse back out of the gate?

  • @linjeflyg No, We started at the gate cause the APU wasn't working so we had to start the engines before disconnecting the Ground Power Unit(GPU). They used the tug, that would of been awesome if the used reverse though!

  • @maverick967 God this airport is so Gorgeous is it true that Delta pilots love this airport because there is usually no delay due to traffic just saying what i heard from a pilot friend

  • HAPPY 100!!! lol! :D

  • @dskxalive Thanks!!!
