OMFG. How have I not heard of this masterpiece until now?! You are what many would consider a genius. You obviously excel at every art known to man. That is impossibly impressive, my friend. Well done!
You know, there are actually a lot of one-man game projects that look and are more successful than this one. As a Touhou/Cave Story fag, I should know. Both were made by one-man teams; ZUN (touhou) and Pixel (cave story). The thing is, they didn't have the intention of becoming instantly recognized like Robert did.
With intentions like that... you'll only look really immature. I don't know, "bob's game" looks okay. I might try it, if only Robert's unwarranted self-importance doesn't put me off.
Pixel actually tried very hard to find a publisher for his game and have it published onto disc, but after about a year of looking he gave up and distributed for free on the internet.
Plus, bob wasn't trying to get any wide spread recognition, he made this trailer because there were many people that didn't believe that he made the entire game himself. This video was released as his "proof" that he actually made the entire game.
Okay, so he's got proof. But the attitude behind it is just so... ugh.
Is that why he went to a Nintendo store, dressed like a weirdo whilst acting like a three-year-old, forcing the "IT'S BOB, HE MADE IT BY HIMSELF OKAY" everywhere? Doesn't sound very rational to me.
I don't know. The real put-off is actually his immaturity, not his skills as a game producer.
Oh that? That was a viral advertisement for his game. That was all staged, he didn't actually trash the place with his cards, or open the DS in store, that was all at his house. Watch his "Viral Proof 1" video. The guys at the store knew what he was doing, he just asked them to act it out for him so he could piece it together for his video.
He was expecting something which I can't disclose to be at GDC 2009, but it didn't happen, deeming the Viral Ad a failure, that's why he removed it.
lol, the "viral ad" thing always sounded like an excuse for backpedaling to me. I heard that the guys at the store knew what he was doing because he worked there or something. But yeah, that "viral ad" of his was a major failure seeing as how it only made him look like a self-absorbed prick. Either way, advertisement or not, Bob needs to seriously grow up, you know?
I personally thought it sounded like it was being played out the entire time! The way he worded everything, the way it all came together in a story-like fashion, and the way he told the guy in the Stage 50 video "It's for my Viral Ad". It didn't seem far fetched at all, most people claimed he was trying to cover it up because they only saw 1 or 2 posts on Joystiq about him being "crazy" and when they saw the post about him saying it was an Ad so they saw it as a cover up, but it wasn't.
And to continue, like I said he was planning something which I can't disclose to be at GDC 2009, thats why his "100 Day Protest" ended on the first day of GDC. If that was actually announced, this would have all ended in a funny and ironic manner, but because it wasn't he was left looking like a psychotic asshole. He had to end the 100 day Viral early because of this. It really is a shame because it would have cleared a lot of this up, and you would be looking at all of this differently.
But what could be more fun than walking around talking to a bunch of cynical stereotypes in a meta-textual game about games where nothing happens?! It's the ultimate post-modern game!
Yes, I was being very sarcastic. But I wasn't replying to you, I was replying to SgaTheBoss, who apparently thinks that it's impossible to criticize something unless you've actually made one yourself.
Oh my god, you're so right. I should never criticize a game until I make one. I should never diss a painting until I've made one of those too. I should have absolutely no opinions of anything ever until I have tried to make them myself! I must be some kind of motherfucker to dislike Mexican food even though I've never made it myself. Thank you for showing me how wrong I've been to have these opinions.
I DO!! This seriously looks like one of the best games I've ever seen,, and I'm not overreacting,, this seriously looks very good, I've always wanted to play a game like this ;D
But 15,000 hours is about 625 days. That's a solid two full years- not counting sleep, spent on a retail toy. Bob was brave for pressing forward- but dumb for pressing such a pointless endeavor. You can get your creative juices flowing in RPG Maker or LittleBigPlanet- why rack your brain to push consumer entertainment? Bob, use your time to become more cultured, more affluent, more understanding. You are dedicated. Contribute something that will get you laid now.
The inherent problem, of course, is that even being the "dungeon master", the creator of the game, the one he has probably so long giving undying worship toward- is that he hasn't realized that these games are indeed just meant to entertain- it was only ever due to cost that video games were ever made to be so long or engrossing. Consumers did not want to pay 60 dollars for 20 minutes of fun. The casualties of that, of course, are the introspectives, who escape into them.
I feel like Bob really had a point to make with this game. "Yuu" is the completely inept, antisocial loser who recedes into dated video games as a form of escapism, because life is very simplistic and boring. He is making a social statement with this game, and demonstrating something about his own views on the world. These are views I kind of share- that the "Nintendo generation" is just a bunch of bullshit. I hope the game ends with Bob turning his own game off.
I mean let's face it, Bob probably never had a girlfriend, he probably has few friends in real life. He was probably raised on Mario and Metroid. I'm just like him. We are the bitter shitty by-products of a culture that focuses on playing with yourself. The point of all these games has always been to see what lies over the next horizon- what the next room looks like, the next challenge, the boss. If Bob's game is all about finding out what's next- I'm all for it.
The view of a 17 year old gamer, who plays mainstream games as much as independent:
It's disappointing to know that Nintendo only accept games that would appeal to a massive audience, much of whom are willing to swallow the same re-hashes of older games, with shinier graphics being the only pay off.
I love video games, but... a lot of new games seem to be... old.
stale.
I hope Yuu can bring something new to the video game market.
You'll then go into a deep depression(deeper than the one you're in now) which will drive you farther into your basement dwelling ways, or even to becoming the aforementioned suicide artist. You have to know your behavior isnt that of a healthy person. Your family and friends (if any) have to know this aswell and I assume they've told you. I can only hope you listen for your own sake and end your self destructive obsession before its too late.
Dude... what the hell? He doesn't live in a basement. It was a viral ad.
Did you seriously write 3 comments worth of this garbage? Really? Thats how you wanted to spend your time? I bet you really think you did a great thing writing this. Do you have any idea how much it pains a guy to see crap like this written about him? Bob's not the one with a problem, the guy who wrote 3 comment boxes worth of uninformed "explaining" is. (li7in6)
You're fellow basement dweller anxiously awaiting this release no doubt. Fact is, 'bob' spent 5 years... wasted 5 years for bullshit no one but 25 year olds living at their parents house care about. He is a basement dweller. he says he's spent 15k hours basement dwelling staring at C trying to make this stupid game 'uber' now he's all butthurt that no one's going to publish his basement trash obsession. I'm trying to help the guy out before he throws himself over the edge.
well next time you're trying to help a person try and be a little less judgmental and a little more respectful. People might actually take you serious that way.
And what have YOU accomplished in the past 5 years? Wrote 4 ridiculous, completely untrue comments on Youtube. Congratulations. Sorry, but "bob" needs no help from you. You are the one who needs help. Do we have to spell it out for you?
BOB'S GAME IS NOTHING MORE THAN A VIRAL AD!!! YOU FOOL!!
I just realized you're creating your own little world. This tells me your antisocial(well the fact that you're living in a basement for 5 years staring at C tells me that) and you're incapable(or scared) of human interaction. This path is only going to lead you to a point where you realize what you've done has had no significance, especially when you realize no one is interested enough to publish your game or even play it.
lmao, jealous of an outdated game based on a shoddy gimmick of a plot that is made for a platform that is already outdated by a guy that wasted 5 years of his life? Please, hit me with a better one than that.
Get a girlfriend, get a job, move out of your parents basement. I'm sure you think whatever the games 'secret' is, is very clever. But unfortunately for you you've just wasted 5 years of your life that you CANT GET BACK on a game that from the looks of it is on par with something from the early 90's. I don't see more than 4-50 people going farther than 2 hours in. It looks like you'll be another basement dweller turned suicide artists once you finally realize how pointless you're life has been.
Unless you played for about 2 seconds then you should of at least heard some music (If you're playing it on an R4 check bob's site for an update that you need to hear the music).
If you can't believe that it took 15000 hours then you must not understand that it would take a very (very) long time to code an entire game engine yourself, create all of the music by yourself, draw every single object by yourself, and then create a story and put all of it together.
I'm gonna try playing the demo.. because from this video it doesn't seem appealing at all.. I don't know if it's the poor graphics but.. what is the game about? I think you should present that first, have us swooned with the story.
I've played Earthbound on the SNES, so I think I understand how fun this game can be. I wish I had a DS to play the full game :P Props to you for never giving up in five years!
Hey Bob, please respond, Have you been creating this game for 5 years or is Bob in the game creating it for 5 years, second have you been able to get this game in the works for production, and can you please port this game to psp, thanks
Wow, I think people have been too harsh on this game. Sure it's pretty weird, but I think we could use some original games like that. And if you think it's so crappy, then put your money where your mouth is and program something better. Really, if you don't have any experience with game development then stfu and cut this guy some slack.
It's okay... but the Tetris-style minigame is really hard. I mean, HARD. The pieces are really hard to place and I normally ragequit after 5 goes. Try making it a little easier, please bob?
Respect forthe developer of Rob's Game. HE says it's the game he always wanted to paly as a kid. I think I understand the game a bit now. it's about a boy's whole life or osmething.
Kinda sad, a man went solo and created what looks like a great game and then we have real developers paid the kings fortune and can't give a rat's ass and make crap like Championship Pony.
Naw, Yuu's bro is called Ai *facepalms* Sorry, the voices made me do it. The game looks.... Well, I can believe it was for the GBA originally.... Seriously, the only reason 'Bob' is doing his protest is because he wants some moolah off this thing otherwise it'd be out there in the homebrew market already. He'd have better luck getting permission form Nintendo if it had a fan base as a free game to begin with. Or am I talking out my finely accoutred ass? Who knows?
Retail reaches way more gamers than homebrew. Robert wants more gamers to play his game.
And besides, if you spent almost 10 hours a day for 5 years working on a game (surviving on a very strict budget funded by an investment in Apple stock c. 1999 and SELLING PLASMA, FFS), don't you think you'd want SOME kind of return? Saying that this protest is just for the money is just a tad bit cynical, don't you think?
I've re watched this and during the doctor scene i've noticed that the doctor says 'Does Yuu ever feel like people are speaking about Yuu in third person or talking in a strange context?', If you've read the blog posts it relates to this.
I believe that the bottom screen will be Yuu's imagination quote 'where the action is' and the top screen will be reality.
Looks awesome, ive always wanted to play an indepth modern adventure game. Did you use some kind of engine to help build the game? How did you go ahead with using C- to make a game that runs on a DS?
Companies like Nintendo should acknowledge independent games like yours and support them. If you manage to get it out for retail, or on the DSi shop, etc. i'll totaly buy it. Not only to support you, but also because the games looks very interesting.
bob, i am simply amazed at your game and you are truly an inspiration to me. i am also coding a game this one is for the gameboy advance but i am struggling with the splash screen system among a few things. i am also coding in plain C maybe you could give me some advice this is also a ham/hel game right?
Well, either way Nintendo is not in the right. Sure, there are other ways to get your game out there but it doesn't help when some of them either do not want to play ball or just do not want to play fair ball... Not sure if I agree with Bob completely but there is a fault in siding with a corporation in almost any matter. Because when it comes down to it, all businesses care about is money.
You're getting annoying, Bob. Turn the DSi into the next Dreamcast? The DS platform is so insanely popular that you can't scratch it even if your game is superbly amazing. Let's get a reality check.
Looks awesome. If i were Nintendo, i would smack a demo of this game right up on the Nintendo Channel on the Wii + a repsonse system so pepole could tell them if they liked it. And if they did, then hook you up with a contract.
If he didn't do all the bitchy - creepy stuff to Nintendo, I would have respect for him as his game looks great. But.. Just because Nintendo is a little unfair by not giving you a development kit, you don't have to lock yourself up. Most small team games for the Nintendo DS use developlment kits that they purchased themselves. If they can't afford it they take out a lone or whatever. Don't be stupid people. /// This game would do okay on mobile phones etc.
really they wont even let you purchase it wtf! well your game is too long for the ds (it's all for casual gamers) if you make it in to a 30 second game maybe they will is there only one story or are there multi-endings coz i want to play the wrong way and end up with the worse ending
I've already seen a video of it working as a DS title. YOU played it on the DS haven't you?
So is the software just to be able to add things like the stylus? If so, why not just release it like it is by uploading a ROM? People with things like the R4 could download your game and play it. If not, people could emulate your homebrew game in a few years anyway.
You don't need Nintendo to make a game. There's homebrew like METEORA out there as it is.
Yes but most are Indie PC games, it's much easier to distribute a downloadable PC game than a DS homebrew game. For DS Homebrew you need a flash cart, a microSD card, a computer and a microSD card reader. Then you have to know where to obtain the game, what file to transfer over, and where to find it within the flashcart menu. This would be WAY too much for the average DS gamer to handle. They just want to pop in the game and enjoy it.
Buying these things is cheaper AND easier than managing DS games IMO, but my point is in a few years we'll probably be able to emulate the game finely.
Besides, I mean it's called BOBS GAME, the outlook just looks home-made. I like the feel, honestly, but the majority wouldn't, it sounds and looks amateur, and it might handle that way too.
It's not a bad thing, I prefer it like that, but most people would disagree on my opinion there. Besides, I'm still anxious to play it.
Well yes while it is easy for you or me, most DS gamers will find the process too difficult. And most flash carts support illegal ROM's of retail DS games which can hurt the developer, publisher, and Nintendo themselves.
We already have full ability to "emulate" DS games in a number of ways. You could emulate using a PC program or you could illegally run a DS game through the use of a flash cart such as the R4. (which is a bad thing!)
The R4 isn't emulating, it's actually running the game, but it is using roms. Emulation doesn't support piracy, the ROMs themselves do. If Bob released this as a ROM it would be perfectly legal.
In which if he actually got it to retail anyone who knows about it would probably use the R4. I'm just saying if he released a rom, for now people with R4s could play them, and then PC emulators later could use them. The PC emulators are still pretty.. low on resource, however.
Yes but unless you own a physical copy of the game, downloading a ROM is illegal. Technically if you do own the game, you are entitled to a backup of it to use via flash cart or PC emulator. Sadly this is not usually the case.
As for him releasing the game as a download, he has said he really wouldn't want to do this. Retail reaches a much larger consumer base than online distribution does. For example, he has said that his site has received over 1 million unique views since the unveiling. Yet this trailer has only been viewed around 270,000 times. So that means most that visited didn't bother to even watch a video of it. But if it's on a store shelf it is much more likely to be picked up simply by curiosity.
Yea...I'm sorry bob, you seem like an awesome guy man.
To be honest, this game looks better than most Nintendo releases.
But ierno, if they did give out their SDK, they risk losing their business. :\ But nevertheless, you spent all that time on it so you deserve tenure to your effort.
Looking forward to seeing your game on the shelves man! :]
if you say there's a torrent of it, why not just use that? ;) come on Bob, if you don't release this before the GTA: Chinatown Wars thing you're going to be passed over and no one will care about your game anymore! I have faith that you will release this soon, homebrew or not, it's going to be AWESOME.
I'm actually quite interested in this game, despite his antics. It could be amazing. It could be crap. There is no way to know. But it doesn't look like anything I've ever played before, which always piques my interest. It's gotta be better than most of the dreck released on Wiiware these days. And it's not another goddamn puzzle game, which gives it at least 2 out of 10 on principle.
I suspect that overall it will be a decent game. Bob just needs to get over this Nintendo complex he has.
Not sure if that's so. For example, ZUN programs, composes, designs, scripts and makes his own graphics for the Touhou games. He has only recently gotten a bit of help here and there, but even that is rare. To date, there are quite a few games. The music is beautiful, programming superb and the cast of characters are fun and interesting.
Yes, I know, "loltouhou", but when compared to something like this, it's...
Has anyone checked out the site yet? Looks like Bob's porting it to Android, iPhone and OpenPandora. The pink heart motif with Reggie Fils-Aime pictures all over the place kinda scares me though.
When the main character isn't talking, I think getting rid of that big black box on top would be nice.
The game seems very dark as well. It could be an aesthetic preference to have it kept this way but instead of a harsh black outline around the graphics some places and graphics could probably benefit from less black outlining.
It doesn't matter what he's shown. Normally games are made AFTER the company has the license and official tools. So most of the time Nintendo has no idea what the company intends to create. His intention was to make the game --> get the SDK --> port the game over --> have a 3rd party publisher release it for him. He didn't expect to run into such problems getting an SDK.
So all this hype and stuff about "A game made by one person" is for a game that doesn't even exist? He sure seems to be implying it exists. If what he's shown is indicative of the entire game then i don't blame them for turning him down. It just appears to be wandering around 8 bit environments having inane conversations. If this isn't all the game is about, he might want to actually show the meat of it. You gotta have some bait to catch the fish and his recent antics are not helping.
Well of course the game exists. He spent over 5 years making it for the DS. He has said many times that he has only shown a very small portion of the game. He wants to keep it secret.
It an adventure game, so you basically get goals like "Go find out what happened to Mr. Johnbob" or "Buy a new suit for the party.". Then when you complete these goals you unlock more of the story, thus leading to more goals. There are over 200 characters so the game is undoubtedly large.
I realize that makes it sound very repetitive but it's not! This happens to be one of my favorite genres of games. They are story driven, so you tend to get pulled in. I think it can be best compared to The Urbz for GBA/DS or Hotel Dusk.
And the game is not 8-Bit that's obvious, it looks more along the lines of 16-Bit. He doesn't want to have to reveal every bit of his game just to get Nintendo's approval. I really encourage listening to the WiiDS podcast with him, he explains everything!
I seriously can't believe Nintendo rejected your game Idea. It feels almost like Harvest moon, Animal crossing, and maybe Zelda combined. I think it'd make a great game!
What is the story of the game? I rather know the story, the character, the gameplay of the game rather than how much time you put into making the game.
I think the environment is pretty good. I'm not sure about the gameplay. The conversation seems really boring. And it seems Yuu just running around all over the place without actually doing anything.
You obviously did not put any thought about the other character seeing you don't give them any name at all. I think you should work with other people regarding the script and gameplay. There is only so much one man can do.
I REALLY hope he's not planning on switching "You" with "Yuu" all the time. If anything, it would be better if we had the option to actually change the name.
With that said, I hope this game will actually leave that basement (and that Bob will put a shirt on more often, god, disgusting).
Ever heard of Jonny RPG? That was an autobiographical RPG set in the (almost) real world. Released about 4 years ago, I think. That was made by 1 person.
1 person making a game isn't a feat. I've made all the materials for my own games too since 2004. Whats the big deal?
Yes but the big this with his game is it's 20 hours long. Thus making it the largest game ever made by 1 person. He has spent over 5 years on it's design, and it shows.
Nintendo = Fucking dumbasses -_-. They deny this game, but allow games like Mario Kart Wii and every other game that sucked on Wii and DS. :/

I think you need to improve your GUI and player model or NPCs in your game.
The player model and NPC gave the game a dark tone, and it didn't fit with the background. The GUI needs some improvement.
You may also need to improve the gameplay, try to make it memorable or unique, it's what Nintendo did.

I should have absolutely no opinions of anything ever until I have tried to make them myself! I must be some kind of motherfucker to dislike Mexican food even though I've never made it myself. Thank you for showing me how wrong I've been to have these opinions.

Schizima 2 years ago
The inherent problem, of course, is that even being the "dungeon master", the creator of the game, the one he has probably so long giving undying worship toward- is that he hasn't realized that these games are indeed just meant to entertain- it was only ever due to cost that video games were ever made to be so long or engrossing. Consumers did not want to pay 60 dollars for 20 minutes of fun. The casualties of that, of course, are the introspectives, who escape into them.
Schizima 2 years ago
I feel like Bob really had a point to make with this game. "Yuu" is the completely inept, antisocial loser who recedes into dated video games as a form of escapism, because life is very simplistic and boring. He is making a social statement with this game, and demonstrating something about his own views on the world. These are views I kind of share- that the "Nintendo generation" is just a bunch of bullshit. I hope the game ends with Bob turning his own game off.
Schizima 2 years ago

I can only hope you listen for your own sake and end your self destructive obsession before its too late.

Companies like Nintendo should acknowledge independent games like yours and support them. If you manage to get it out for retail, or on the DSi shop, etc. i'll totaly buy it. Not only to support you, but also because the games looks very interesting.

YamiMario 2 years ago 7
If he didn't do all the bitchy - creepy stuff to Nintendo, I would have respect for him as his game looks great. But.. Just because Nintendo is a little unfair by not giving you a development kit, you don't have to lock yourself up. Most small team games for the Nintendo DS use developlment kits that they purchased themselves. If they can't afford it they take out a lone or whatever. Don't be stupid people. /// This game would do okay on mobile phones etc.
jonVaillant 2 years ago
They won't let me purchase it. That's the whole problem.
robertpelloni 2 years ago
really they wont even let you purchase it wtf! well your game is too long for the ds (it's all for casual gamers) if you make it in to a 30 second game maybe they will is there only one story or are there multi-endings coz i want to play the wrong way and end up with the worse ending

robertpelloni 2 years ago
I've already seen a video of it working as a DS title. YOU played it on the DS haven't you?
So is the software just to be able to add things like the stylus? If so, why not just release it like it is by uploading a ROM? People with things like the R4 could download your game and play it. If not, people could emulate your homebrew game in a few years anyway.
You don't need Nintendo to make a game. There's homebrew like METEORA out there as it is.
VGatsV 2 years ago
He wants to release it at retail. He's spent 5 years on it with a retail release in mind.
And it would reach a larger audience at retail than it would on some simple homebrew sites.
TechNick1 2 years ago
There are games that look just as good as this that isn't retail.
People just underestimate what homebrew is. Besides, Cave Story got on wiiware and it was free to begin with, so what the hell?
VGatsV 2 years ago
Yes but most are Indie PC games, it's much easier to distribute a downloadable PC game than a DS homebrew game. For DS Homebrew you need a flash cart, a microSD card, a computer and a microSD card reader. Then you have to know where to obtain the game, what file to transfer over, and where to find it within the flashcart menu. This would be WAY too much for the average DS gamer to handle. They just want to pop in the game and enjoy it.
TechNick1 2 years ago
Buying these things is cheaper AND easier than managing DS games IMO, but my point is in a few years we'll probably be able to emulate the game finely.
Besides, I mean it's called BOBS GAME, the outlook just looks home-made. I like the feel, honestly, but the majority wouldn't, it sounds and looks amateur, and it might handle that way too.
It's not a bad thing, I prefer it like that, but most people would disagree on my opinion there. Besides, I'm still anxious to play it.
VGatsV 2 years ago
Well yes while it is easy for you or me, most DS gamers will find the process too difficult. And most flash carts support illegal ROM's of retail DS games which can hurt the developer, publisher, and Nintendo themselves.
We already have full ability to "emulate" DS games in a number of ways. You could emulate using a PC program or you could illegally run a DS game through the use of a flash cart such as the R4. (which is a bad thing!)
TechNick1 2 years ago
The R4 isn't emulating, it's actually running the game, but it is using roms. Emulation doesn't support piracy, the ROMs themselves do. If Bob released this as a ROM it would be perfectly legal.
In which if he actually got it to retail anyone who knows about it would probably use the R4. I'm just saying if he released a rom, for now people with R4s could play them, and then PC emulators later could use them. The PC emulators are still pretty.. low on resource, however.
VGatsV 2 years ago
Yes but unless you own a physical copy of the game, downloading a ROM is illegal. Technically if you do own the game, you are entitled to a backup of it to use via flash cart or PC emulator. Sadly this is not usually the case.
TechNick1 2 years ago
As for him releasing the game as a download, he has said he really wouldn't want to do this. Retail reaches a much larger consumer base than online distribution does. For example, he has said that his site has received over 1 million unique views since the unveiling. Yet this trailer has only been viewed around 270,000 times. So that means most that visited didn't bother to even watch a video of it. But if it's on a store shelf it is much more likely to be picked up simply by curiosity.
TechNick1 2 years ago

Not sure if that's so. For example, ZUN programs, composes, designs, scripts and makes his own graphics for the Touhou games. He has only recently gotten a bit of help here and there, but even that is rare. To date, there are quite a few games. When the main character isn't talking, I think getting rid of that big black box on top would be nice.
The game seems very dark as well. It could be an aesthetic preference to have it kept this way but instead of a harsh black outline around the graphics some places and graphics could probably benefit from less black outlining.
sethdonut 3 years ago 2
So do you... do anything in it?
anangrysockpuppet 3 years ago
It doesn't matter what he's shown. Normally games are made AFTER the company has the license and official tools. So most of the time Nintendo has no idea what the company intends to create. His intention was to make the game --> get the SDK --> port the game over --> have a 3rd party publisher release it for him. He didn't expect to run into such problems getting an SDK.
TechNick1 3 years ago
So all this hype and stuff about "A game made by one person" is for a game that doesn't even exist? He sure seems to be implying it exists. If what he's shown is indicative of the entire game then i don't blame them for turning him down. It just appears to be wandering around 8 bit environments having inane conversations. If this isn't all the game is about, he might want to actually show the meat of it. You gotta have some bait to catch the fish and his recent antics are not helping.
baserocklove 3 years ago
Well of course the game exists. He spent over 5 years making it for the DS. He has said many times that he has only shown a very small portion of the game. He wants to keep it secret.
It an adventure game, so you basically get goals like "Go find out what happened to Mr. Johnbob" or "Buy a new suit for the party.". Then when you complete these goals you unlock more of the story, thus leading to more goals. There are over 200 characters so the game is undoubtedly large.
TechNick1 3 years ago
I realize that makes it sound very repetitive but it's not! This happens to be one of my favorite genres of games. They are story driven, so you tend to get pulled in. I think it can be best compared to The Urbz for GBA/DS or Hotel Dusk.
And the game is not 8-Bit that's obvious, it looks more along the lines of 16-Bit. He doesn't want to have to reveal every bit of his game just to get Nintendo's approval. I really encourage listening to the WiiDS podcast with him, he explains everything!
