Its virtually Soldier, I have no Mouth and I must Scream and the Demon with a Glass Hand but mostly Soldier and I have no Mouth and I must Scream are definetly inspirations
Considering that two of the other actors guest starred on Star Trek, it would've been great to see Michael Rennie play a guest part on Star Trek also. Just a thought.
I saw this decades ago and liked it, though it has low-budget written all over it. I think it largely inspired "The Terminator" movies, though they were much better done. Outstanding actor, Michael Rennie, must have been hurting to have stooped to doing this!
I first saw this in the '70s and loved it. When I saw Terminator (the original), I thought someone had updated and remade this film. The plot is virtually identical - cyborg comes back from the future to change the past and prevent his own creation - typical Grandfather Paradox. I admit that the plot is closer to T2 than T1, but T2 hadn't been thought of at that point!
I see industrial designers had worked their magic on the panel of Michael Rennie's time machine, putting controls on the BACKSIDE where he couldn't see them and had to reach around and fumble. I have lots of electronic equipment like that. This film was prescient.
Fascinating trailer! THANKS for posting! Some very familiar movie names in the cast: Michael Rennie ("The Day the Earth Stood Still"), Warren Stevens ("Forbidden Planet" and "The Barefoot Contessa") and Wendell Corey (Hitchcock's "Rear Window"). I've always been a fan of the work of all three gentelmen. Mr Stevens is still alive & worked as recently as 2007! I recall seeing this on late night local TV way back in the 70's when I was a teen. Now I wished I'd watched it all!
one of the wimmen in the film, may be a known acres, from a 50s tv series i seen erlyer, interesting coments, yea it seens be the rot to some science fiction movies, like the terminator

Haven't seen this in decades...loved it as a kid. It also greatly resembles the Outer Limits episode "Soldier"...

Actually, I think this film inspired to create other cyborg-related movies
and/or television programs, such as
the "Six Million Dollar Man", along with
"The Bionic Woman", "Star Wars", and of course, "Terminator".
If you kinda think about it,
prostetics(or bionics) back then, several decades ago, was considered science-fiction or even "science-future".
But today, it's very real and common in the field of medical science. :)
I like the nice space-age skyline.
Thank you for posting. :)

Warren Stevens as Dr. Carl Zellar. He also starred in Forbidden Planet as Doc Ostrow and the Star Trek episode "By Any Other Name" as Rojan.
