  • you guys are lucky to have so many readily available fields to land out in, though i doubt you'll have to with a glide ratio like that!

  • nice hat

  • brilliant vid.

flying has always been a passion of mine... i would love to do this (even though i'd probably be scared outta my life)

  • absolutely calming and beautiful video.

  • VERY PLEASANT VIDEO !!!

  • @Balleka how the heck did you manage 76, 892 views!?!?!?

  • i thout it was rc

  • 2 Questions-

    1) Do you own that glider?

    2) How much does your average glider cost?

     Cheers

  • @TheKeyWestian

    1) I don't know

    2) Used the can cost from 15.000 pounds to 100.000 pounds, It depends on the model you buy. It's like cars, you can buy a cheap, used one with some bad characteristics, or you can buy the new, expensive ''ferrri'' with good characteristics

  • thing that sucks most about flying is you dont see much detail of whats on the ground unless you fly very low. I think bush flying sounds the most interesting for this very reason. I wanna actually be able to see something

  • What's your altitude and speed?

  • That must be an amazing experience. No motor, just soaring like an eagle!

  • Why not wear a parachute and have an easy to eject canopy so you can jump out if something does go wrong and save yourself?

I've seen so many stories of ultralight deaths.

  • @Ortheos2006 If you are at all competent flying a glider you don't have to worry about crashing. The worst thing is probably an off field landing, which isn't that big of a deal. Plus by the time you are ready to jump from a glider you would already be too low for the parachute to fully deploy (unless something broke wayyyy up high ofc).

  • Beautiful.

  • Amazing scenery. I did the bulk of my commercial flight training in Florida, which was fun, but when I flew for the first time in the UK, I wished I would have stayed here to do it. The views from the air are unbeatable.

  • What could possibly go wrong? you can crash and die is probally the worst...

  • Sorry I am a questioner but one more...

What kind of mount did you use

  • 2 Qustions,

    1:How much did that cost?

2: What type of camera did you use for this?

    Please Answer, Thanks

  • @XXairplanemanXX The aero-tow cost £50 flight lasted for 3 hours. Camera was a Contour HD

  • @Balleka are you sure you didnt mean 50 million?

  • @Balleka ...How much does the aircraft cost or did you rent this aircraft? If rented, what is the cost of said aircraft?

  • I love to fly these in FSX. Great Plane

  • How do you go about flying a glider? (For example, you need a license right?)

Is it the same as a pilots license for a powered aircraft, or is there a sailplane license? and what are the requirements? looking at the video it seems like a great and rewarding experience.

    what a view!

  • @yuriogy1 In the UK you learn through British Gliding Association affiliated clubs and go solo once you have progressed through the training syllabus and then work towards your Bronze badge which also involves a written exam and demonstration of flying skill to an examiner. It's a fantastically rewarding sport and not overly expensive, I highly recommend going down to your nearest club and having a go!

  • @yuriogy1 In the UK, you could learn to fly gliders for no monetary outlay by joining your local VGS or volunteer gliding squadron who provide air experience flights and instruction for air cadets. You need to meet medical and other criteria and will be expected to commit time and effort but you don't pay for launches etc. Look up "volunteer gliding squadron" on wickipedia and make contact with local VGS if you want more details. BGA or VGS, you'll have a great time flying with!

  • @yuriogy1 Is ther a lot of thermal up wind above water, or less then above land?

  • Nice View )))))))

  • @mrsaira11 Oh you poor thing!

  • @Balleka dang now i cant see what he wrote....

  • @mrsaira11 You mean you just wasted 1min43 of your boring life. :P

If you dont like this kind of stuff, then stay away please.

  • @Fastbikkel do u think i care, bout this shit video, who gives a crap, its boring, how people watch a glider WOW!!!!!

  • @mrsaira11 What the hell did you watch it for?

  • You might also like this quote from Arthur C. Clarke

"The only way to discover the limits of the possible, is to go beyond them, into the impossible"

  • it's beautiful there. It's -20 here but the air is nice and smooth for powered flight. Still, I would trade to go to that place anyday.. Where am I moving to to be the guy crashing on your couch?

  • Oh the pain, the pain....

  • Pain & suffering??? Your an idiot! Don't crash into someones house because of something going wrong!

  • @VirginianHighlander Merry Christmas to you too!

  • @Balleka Contrary to VirginiaHighlander, I quite enjoyed the magnificent view and seeing a fellow pilot enjoying the skies. Merry Christmas, happy landings!

  • "What could possibly go wrong?" Terrible choice for a title, you don't even elaborate

  • @VirginianHighlander Come on use your imagination! Sorry if you were expecting to see pain and suffering.

  • @Balleka They have never heard of TS Elliot in Ol' Verginny. I saw the point of which you spoke. Good call, in my mind.

  • hello lovely

  • there me thinking there was a crash

  • its nice because once you buy it thats all the money to spend, you dont need gas, wait you have to get towed up...

  • I really hoped that something would go wrong. I'm kinda disappointed. I want my money back. Just sayin.

  • Damn. I'm nervous about driving or flying something with out an engine haha. Don't push me down a hill in a wagon, i'll shit my self.

  • this is the luckiest man on earth!

  • JUST FANTASTIC!!

  • I love flying and will get a glider one day..........when they run out of fossil fuel.

  • this looks like FSX... really

  • wait what... im confused, is this FSX or real life? seriously xD

  • I've been across that gap on a hang glider, looks way too easy in one of those things :)

  • @markyp1968 Awesome and I thought I was crazy!

  • @Balleka what are you flying?

  • @cprich22 It's an ASW20 definitely the coolest glider I can afford!

  • @Balleka nice, im still learning training in a Puchacz at Currock Hill, realy hard trying to fly in constant sink...

  • Subbed :)

  • answer: absolutely everything XD

  • What camera are you using here, and what type of mount?

  • peaceful - good vid

  • good music too --- totaly immercing in thay flight......

  • Awesome video! Gliding gives you the real sensation of flight.

  • music: Hybrid - Disappear here

  • Very nice, i bet you miss your 747 though.

  • woooooooow :)

  • woooooooow

  • Great video. What is the name of song?

  • @berzerken "Dissappear Here" by Hybird (Orchestral Armchair Version)

  • Looks fast for a glider, looks like you are doing 150kts :)

  • @dabb Not that fast, more like 100. That doesn't even look like 130.

  • @dabb it looks like, because the camera has zoomed out.

  • @dabb across the Bay I think I was only doing about 70kts

  • how far from field did you get?

  • @Lewy1997 I went to West bay which is 37km from Sidmouth which is in turn 21km from our club.
