@Z200a glad I made you laugh... then I replayed it and figure it out, they are apparently "high on consolation" OMG I wish I could get high on that myself... but I do LOVE this song!
That was without a doubt, THE single worst video ive ever seen on youtube...I cant figure out who looks gayer Hall or Oates?...they looked stoned as hell, bored out of their minds and wtf is up with those sandals...G...A...Y..!!
Some people here are saying that H and O look/act goof(il)y here...but in terms of looking/acting dignified, they appear here like Washington crossing the friggin' Delaware compared to how they look and act in later videos; take "Out of Touch," for example (also of course available on Youtube (I like both songs, but the video for "Touch"...sheesh))
so glad they later went on to do their own thing together, i'm not saying maneater and its ilk were anything groundbreakin, just catchy tunes, but at least looking here they got away from copying the look of glam rock and the sound of the four tops, i don't know what the four tops songs are, but i bet they're like this

great video and song.BTW when i was a teenager in the 80's,people were making fun of the 70's fashion, but now u compare the two and 80's god awful!!!! 80's fashion is worst ever!!! BTW love this song and video.

My favorite H&O song, it has a certain feel to it. I love the opening, and Daryl's vocals, the notes he hits,to me, are awesome. I've heard John live,he sounds different on here, but damn, they are awesome together, period!!!!!!!
Such a great chorus. I always get this song mixed up with "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" for some reason. I always thought She's Gone was a cover too, but Hall & Oates wrote the shit out of it! Brillliant song.
@Madkre8tor you need a translation?>: the guy on the left (hall? oates? I dunno I dont care.) but he looks like david bowie. ben orr played bass in the cars, and had a similar early 70s glam rocker look, like bowie. hilarious. right? the lyrics are about considering suicide because his woman left him. listen to it again.
why do kids always come on here and say im 15 and i love this song noone cares if your 15 or 90 just enjoy the music my mums 50 she doesnt come on here saying hey im 50 and i love beyonce jeeze !!!!!!
LOL, they look like they both have hangovers.. But still incredibly sexy and talented. Their hearts don't look too much into the making video. Oates rubbing his forhead Hall smoking a cigarette "like whatever." I still love this song and they still look amazing.
@36028 internet says that's not correct. There's another version by Tavares, but they were covering H&O.
From wikipedia (crap source but better than nowt):
"This song would be covered by Lou Rawls and Tavares before Atlantic Records re-released the Hall & Oates version in 1976. "She's Gone," as covered by Tavares, did go to Number One on the R&B charts in 1974. It was originally written for Hall's first wife, Bryna Lublin (Hall) and based on Oates' being stood up by a date on New Year's Eve."
@36028 You're partially correct. The song was indeed written by H&O and first released on their 1973 album Abandoned Luncheonette. This song would be covered by Lou Rawls and Tavares before Atlantic Records re- released the Hall & Oates version as a single in 1976.
