I really hate the drive to Toronto. Once the collector/express starts it's fun because it is exciting and there is plenty to see. But the 4 hour drive to get there from Ottawa sucks. It's tailgaters, slow pokes, speed demons, lane hoppers, and trucks, trucks, trucks (all passing each other) the whole way. I hear they are going to widen the 401 to a minimum of 3 lanes per direction for its entire length. That would be nice.
all i can say is thank goodness for the ETR we never take the 401 into toronto when we head north looking forward to your vids this spring and summer bud
Heh what you see here is not so bad :) The 401 has a lot of traffic (one of the busiest in the world in some sections), but this is why it's also so huge (widest in the world currently, AFAIK). However, this video was done on a weekend. During regular rush hour times - it is very difficult to drive through Toronto on most freeways. The 401 hardly moves. Although, it is still not as bad as many other big cities.
We did have one break, but also I split the driving with my dad. I was only filming when my dad was driving. It's not such a long distance though. Maybe 3.5 hours or so.
There are a lot of aggressive drivers on the 401 who must travel at 140+ km/h, and will tailgate anyone who goes slower, even if they are not in the left lane. These people are usually 16 year old males who drive Honda Civics.
401 is fun. Lots of people dislike it, even dread it. A lot of people in the area wont drive through Toronto on it. One time someone threw a greasy fast-food wrapper out their window and it hit my windshield while I was going 90 odd miles an hour (yea I hate metric), there was a huge grease splat on the windshield, it sucked.
well the first 5 mins look almost like driving down to washington dc in virginia, Its amazing how much traffic there is in toronto, I how much is gas in canada?
It's somewhat of a problem in North America in general, but then again, 120 km/h is fine for the left lane in a 2-lane setup, because the right lane is flowing at around 100 km/h, which is the limit. If the right lane is flowing close to 120 km/h then you're right, you have no reason to be in the left lane. As long as you overtake in the left lane and come back to the right lane (if there are only 2 lanes), it's fine.
Yes, indeed. Where have I claimed that this is a video of driving fast? The intent of this "trick" is not to create the illusion of driving fast, but to fit a 2-hour footage into a 10-minute video :)

oh? attempting to be funny are we? here let me laugh at your pathetic comment....HA HA ha... notice the laugh died down because it WASN'T funny. Nice try anyway.....
Incredible video! 401 is an amazing freeway, and as much as I love Atlanta's freeways(particularly 75/85 near downtown), 401 easily blows away 75/85. Too bad I sadly won't get to drive 401 anytime soon. :(
Loved your song choices for this video, especially La La La by September!
401E right outside T.O three lane pitch black...so dark even the side markers on my fender feel so bright...01 E38 255kms so far..well only once..just wanted to see how it feels...it feels awsum lolll.....but yah my favorite highway especially at night!!! GO highway of heroessss
