The lowest paid fighters get 6 grand for show and 6 grand more to win. plus they would probably get another 10 grand in sponsors. poor guy only made 16 grand for losing his ufc debut... give me a break.
I really hope everyone really tries to look deeper than this edited bullshit!!! I mean any person with just a little common since would know that the ufc is a great biusness and most of their employees live working for the company! I mean is there really another football league or basketball, hockey ,etc that is near equal for people to choose. ESPN chose the wrong side on this one!!
A private company should have the freedom to pay whatever they want & share or not share that information with whomever they want. If the pay scale goes out the roof for everyone then we can expect the same spoiled behavior of the NBA & others who skip out on the season because they don't fully appreciate the opportunity given to them by their employers.
48,000/year for a bottom level employee to a YOUNG COMPANY, not including the potential 5-6 figure bonuses they can make per fight. WTF IS THE COMPLAINT? ESPN, lost a lot of respect for you guys
whatever man. is there any competition for the nfl, nba, nhl, or the mlb? no; but i dont hear espn whining about the nhl's hockey monopoly or the nfl's football monopoly. wtf. moreover, the vast majority of farm teams and players on minor league teams of these make far less than the average ufc salary. its the same exact shit. i dont understand what espns deal is.
Most viewers, particularly those who understand the history of MMA and the UFC's role in growing and financing the sport, understand this is a biased and uninformed hit piece.
Boo ESPN, Boo. Nice editing. If not for the UFC, all fighters would get paid shit, not just most. And we would be stuck watching shitty fights. Lorenzo deserves to be a billionaire, without him there would be no UFC.
damn! how poor does ESPN look, hating on the UFC, feeding people who would otherwise work at McD....those who complaint are those who dont draw even 10 PPV-Buys ... why should they earn like a GSP ? If u want to get payed big time, get urself over, cut promos and beat the shit out of ur opponent, then u'll get the cut u want!
ESPN hates the UFC, they barely ever cover it. They shouldn't talk, they sponsor and finance alot of the friday night fights, and those fighters make a few hundred bucks per fight.
Holy shit, ESPN is the last place you want to get your facts from especially when dealing with debates. You wanna hear a real fact? 70% of NFL and NBA players who retire go BANKRUPT. Over $300,000 a year couldn't save these guys from being broke and yet ESPN is pointing fingers at the sport they don't cover. Where are the broke former NFL players' interviews?
ESPN hates that the UFC is growing so large so quickly, now they're doin everything to deter this spread.
I can't believe you tools. Dana White tells you what to think and you obey like little tribal-tatted, ugly-assed affliction t shirt wearing douche bags.
Look, ESPN is a credible, if not THE most credible sports news outlet on the planet. If they say 20 fighters wouldn't go on camera to talk about fighter pay, IT HAPPENED. Big deal they get Matt Serra who owes ZUFFA for everything he's accomplished from his career to the popularity of his gym.
Chuck Liddell sides with Dana? No way! Think it has anything to do with the fact that White made him a millionare and gave him a imaginary position with the UFC? Chuck Lidell, UFC Executive Director of awesomeness! And Forrest is just happy to still be employed after getting laid out more often than a $2 crack whore.
this is absolute garbage 1-sided propaganda. look at Dana white's response to this story and you will find the raw and uncut footage of the actual interview and hear the true story. shame on you ESPN.
ESPN is no different then other bullshit news channels that make shit up and make them look bad. Soon MMA will be one of the top sports in America and ESPN will eventually be on board with the UFC even though i could give a shit if they had ufc/mma on espn 24/7

Espn has nothing better to do then to waste ppl time. U come in a interview with no facts and u expect to win ppl over...get that fuck out of here!!!!!!
Wow...espn tried so hard to make the ufc look bad, but they ended up making them look good. What's so wrong with what the ufc is doing? I think 12,000 per fight is pretty damn good, specially if ur just starting out. Like any other company ppl have to start at the bottom and make their way to the top to get the big bucks...Its common sense. Also, u can't compare the ufc to the nfl becauase the nfl is been around for years and still has at lot more $ than ufc.
So ESPN are doing a story on UFC fighters' pay, yet admit that they don't know what UFC fighters get paid? Bad journalism. There's no story here if they don't even have the most basic of facts. Surely the first piece of information you need when doing a story on fighter pay is the amount that fighters get paid.
All they have is a selection of carefully edited soundbites and some shopping channel reject reading nonsense that his tiny brain can't comprehend.
@TweaksterXXX i love how the ufc runs, but this is a bad argument. cause if a player really loves a sport, he would keep fighting hard no matter how much he makes, to win.
Was not as bad as I thought it would be. No big deal. You want to make 200k, 300k or a million per fight. You better believe you need to be up the ladder. Is espn suggesting that the ufc should hand out 100k to every fighter that steps in the octagon? Boxing is a gong show..ufc should stick to what they do. Any boxer that makes 25 million per fight...better be fucking amazing! There are only a few doing that. ESPN...go fuck yourself!
UFC needs to pay their fighters more. I think its outrageous how much boxing makes over UFC. UFC is raking it in and these guys are putting their lives on the line for nickles. I love the UFC but cmon, pay your athletes!
@muradb90 so you can get overpayed cry babies who dont wanna fight the best and make the rules-please. ufc has control of their fighters in the league and the best fights the best OOO. ESPN clearly edited the shit out of this.. BUT...The pay for 'low end' UFC athletes is just so harsh. If a guy is fighting in the UFC then hes top 30 ON THE PLANET at that weight. HE'S PAID HIS DUES in the no doubt 20 fights he had before his debut on smaller shows fighting for peanuts!! These guys will be lucky to make a net 3 k after fees and their camp costs.. Thats $1500 per month!!
Id just love to see a starting wage of $25 k for these guys rather than a extra few thou for a top guy who's
Espn edited the video to promote espn's agenda of trying to put UFC in a bad light. And trying to compare to the NFL this early in the building of the sport. Companies pay millions of dollars to present their products during the super bowl. Espn Has Deliberately and inaccurately misrepresented the UFC . Shame on them.
Fuck you, ESPN, how bout you do an interview on NBA and NFL athletes. I'd love to hear about how 70 percent of NFL players (who get payed up to 400 grand a year) go bankrupt. Of course you won't touch that subject, you're a bunch of dirty pigs.
They edit it to make Lorenzo look harsh. When in reality, if you've seen the full unedited version, you would see that he spoke very articulate, calculated and represented himself and his company well.
Did the guy from ESPN just say they only get a couple thousand a fight?! The fighters who have never even been heard of who nobody comes to see get paid like 40 grand a fight... Good fighters could get hundreds of thousands, where the hell do they get thier bullshit information from?
If there's soooo many talented fighters. Collaborate, risk your money, start your own league and put the UFC out of business. ESPN just hhhhaaaatttteeessss UFC.
there are 2 sides to all stories i agree 100% with the bonus structure that makes for a better fight for the consumer and with the economic situation these days i want the most for my money. on the other hand i believe that the fighters are affraid to speak out, im talking about the fighters that the UFC does not need, because they dont make millions from their fights.Ofcoarse a guy like ortiz can talk smak because they make millions from him they are not going to oust him
this is a bs story..The UFC is a corporation..and what employee of any company would say they were compensated fairly?..none..except top tier management....and top tier mangement is exactly what the top fighter are in UFC context...there..this is a storm in a cup of tea..this is a "news story" designe to buttfuck FOX...ESPN is having a case of blueballs and sout grapes....
@dapappacn i watched all sides of this and if you listen fertitta says "if he is someone the public wants to see i dont care what he says i want him on my payroll" thats because if the public wants to see "said person" then he will be making loads of money the argument here is what about the guys that are not headliners. they dont want to speak out about any unfair condition because they dont have any "weight" they arent big purse people ,yet so i do believe they would get ousted
Anderson Silva has contracts of advertising with a major food company, the bigger team of soccer in brazil, with Ford in brazil, a big company of higiene , a big company of clothing...
@TweaksterXXX PRIDE WAS EPIC!! The style, the presentation and spirit that pride had is uncomparable to the UFC its like comparing diamonds and turds.
This is terrible reporting. The UFC has the unedited interview up. Check it out. ESPN loves doing slam pieces, especially now that the UFC has signed with FOX.
Espn you guys are asmretarded as the company that owns you ( Disney), do a research on how much pride fighters where getting payed over in Japan, and it as crap! Most of the elite fighters are now millionaires in the UFC do suck my longndick!!
I've watched MMA grow since 1993 and the Dana White and the Fertitta's have been the best thing for this sport. Anyone who thinks their fighters aren't taken care of is insane. This video is nothing more than an attack from another corporation. The Fertitta's and Dana White invested their lives and money in this sport and they should be appreciated because without them the fighters wouldn't be taken care of.
this is the most stupidest shit ive seen in my life. why attack ufcs fighter pay, they should be doing a story on how great the ultimate fighter program works for potential fighter and how ufc builds its fighters. in the end its all in your hands its all up too you how hard you train and how hard you work (unless you suffer a injury) and thats why i admire fighters. one day no ones gonna be even watching espn
@Drahgoon you clearly don't know enough about the sport if you're throwing those comments around. They make well over 12,000 dollars.... There is more to pay than just for fighting. Sponsorship, bonuses, and many other branches of those could put them at nearly 20,000 or more as a first time fighter who which fight multiple times per year. The average college graduate makes only around 45,000 a year at the beginning. Pretty good pay if you ask me for doing a sport/job you love.
@EaglesX63 Exactly. Draghoon is an ignorant dumbass, throwing around accusations, and then claiming kickboxing is superior to jiu jitsu in every way. Tell that to Royce Gracie who destroyed all of the people of EVERY fight style... clearly this fool has only started watching UFC since it became popular and knows nothing about the history of MMA.
soooo the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA arn't monopolies? its weird how they accuse the UFC of being a monopoly and not the other main sports. why dont they investigate them?
You people dont know anything. The UFC should give about 45 to 50 percent of they're profits to the fighters. Zuffa exploits the figthers and bearly give 10 percent. Boxing might underpay there lower level guys but atleast the profits in boxing are split 50/50.EDUATISE YO SELF FOOL!!!!!
@Drahgoon WE don't know anything? But YOU DO? So .. let me get this straight.. UFC does NOT publish revenue to the public.. but YOU KNOW that they only give 10% even though the Owner just stated he paid out approx. 50%...
You, are a weak minded, fool, who eats up media poison like this.
@master0068 All i know is that being an MMA figher is one of the most brutal jobs there is. To pay a fighter 12,000 dollars for a fight is exploitation. Lorenzo Fertida is a scum bag, reptilian mob boss and is just mad that he is finally being exposed. He and Dana White(aka Mr.cokehead).does'nt want people to know the truth.
@Drahgoon I train Jiu Jitsu, and go to the gym 4-6 times a week. I know how hard training is, but I have a full time job. My full time Job pays me 150$ a DAY, to get paid 12000$ for 1 fight, is hardly peanuts. Some of the fighters fight for 500$ a fight in small organizations, so do your research. Just because something takes a lot of hard work doesn't mean a company should throw away their money on someone who hasn't proven themselves. Try getting hired at a job for 200k without having rep
@master0068 I have boxed and kickboxed since i was twelve because striking is superior to jiu-jiutsu is e every posible way. but any ways what i am trying to say is that people need to understand that being a fighter is brutal because you are putting the quality of your thinking on the line.12000$ for a fight slave wage. You would'nt know because you work for 150$ a day, if that isn't exploitation then i dont kow what is.You americans really need to stop being controled by capitilism and start
@Drahgoon You are a moron. Royce Gracie proved Jiu Jitsu is the most dominant martial arts, clearly you know nothing about the sport. Nobody is forcing fighters to fight. If they don't like the pay they can go work elsewhere like everyone else.
KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC KEN SHAMROCK MADE THE UFC
0:40 they bought the UFC for 10million. Not that it matters.. just ESPN likes to lie
also why did they pick Ken shamrock to talk about the ufc? Idk maybe because frank shamrock has been talking shit about the ufc and dana white for months/years now "look it up" they are interviewing people that either hate the ufc or jealous of the ufc because there not making that money. ESPN are lairs and has no respect and will never get it from me.
listen you idiots! it is about the total % of revenue that the UFC pays out to it's fighters. other sports pay around 50%. UFC? we don't know. it could be 10%. $48,000 in a year if you win your first 3 fights? that is fucked up. they must make hundreds of millions a year in ticket sales, pay per view money, online subscriptions, merchandise etc. fertita is already a BILLIONAIRE and he is so greedy he keeps most of it for himself.
@thebuilder86 how is that fucked up? you're an entry level fighter? you're at the bottom of the ladder. why should you make more if you haven't proven yourself, yet? what job does that? you think they guy that cleans comes in to clean the toilets should make as much as the guy who anages the company? gtfoh
I'm not the biggest UFC fan I love mma though, but this piece was almost like bashing. They compare UFC to NFL and other major leagues? Really? Those other leagues gave been around for near centuries and have far more deals to make money. I mean come on some boxers are making 275 and the lowest UFC fighters makes 6k and 6k to win. Not terrible for a man fighting in his first UFC fight with no popularity.
And to compare the UFC to the big four Sports leagues is totally and completley unfair. The UFC doesn't have the tv and merchandising deals the NFL, MLB, NBA, or even the NHL. What has espn become, the National Enquirer of sports?
So you have to win in order to make more money. That's weird. Why the hell is espn going after the UFC. I think it because of the FOX deal... espn is mad they got outbid
the UFC is still getting off the ground (to make itself more mainstream), so fighter pay and any other issues may have to wait. As far as monopoly, how retarded! You want to watch the best compete, its harder if they're from different companies with opposing agendas (like keeping their champion a 'champion'). Reference: downfall of boxing.......Besides, Arena league as a percentage of NFL salaries is probably worse than Bellator vs UFC....
should i delete this vid?

this is a bs story..The UFC is a corporation..and what employee of any company would say they were compensated fairly?..none..except top tier management....and top tier mangement is exactly what the top fighter are in UFC context...there..this is a storm in a cup of tea..this is a "news story" designe to buttfuck FOX...ESPN is having a case of blueballs and sout grapes....
dapappacn 1 month ago
@dapappacn i watched all sides of this and if you listen fertitta says "if he is someone the public wants to see i dont care what he says i want him on my payroll" thats because if the public wants to see "said person" then he will be making loads of money the argument here is what about the guys that are not headliners. they dont want to speak out about any unfair condition because they dont have any "weight" they arent big purse people ,yet so i do believe they would get ousted

1st of all in boxing if your name isn't pacquiao mayweather or klitchko your not making any money
2nd a ufc fighters 1st fight is 6000 plus the win bonus depending on how well they performed can make over 30000 in their second fight
3rd the bonuses are incentives to go out and perform more
Finnally no other major sports league has to pay everything themselves like Zuffa has to

I've watched MMA grow since 1993 and the Dana White and the Fertitta's have been the best thing for this sport. Anyone who thinks their fighters aren't taken care of is insane. This video is nothing more than an attack from another corporation. The Fertitta's and Dana White invested their lives and money in this sport and they should be appreciated because without them the fighters wouldn't be taken care of.
patrickjn77 1 month ago
this is the most stupidest shit ive seen in my life. why attack ufcs fighter pay, they should be doing a story on how great the ultimate fighter program works for potential fighter and how ufc builds its fighters. in the end its all in your hands its all up too you how hard you train and how hard you work (unless you suffer a injury) and thats why i admire fighters. one day no ones gonna be even watching espn
1988Leonp 1 month ago
@Drahgoon you clearly don't know enough about the sport if you're throwing those comments around. They make well over 12,000 dollars.... There is more to pay than just for fighting. Sponsorship, bonuses, and many other branches of those could put them at nearly 20,000 or more as a first time fighter who which fight multiple times per year. The average college graduate makes only around 45,000 a year at the beginning. Pretty good pay if you ask me for doing a sport/job you love.
EaglesX63 1 month ago
@EaglesX63 Exactly. Draghoon is an ignorant dumbass, throwing around accusations, and then claiming kickboxing is superior to jiu jitsu in every way. Tell that to Royce Gracie who destroyed all of the people of EVERY fight style... clearly this fool has only started watching UFC since it became popular and knows nothing about the history of MMA.

soooo the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA arn't monopolies? its weird how they accuse the UFC of being a monopoly and not the other main sports. why dont they investigate them?
NateGasper20 1 month ago
You people dont know anything. The UFC should give about 45 to 50 percent of they're profits to the fighters. Zuffa exploits the figthers and bearly give 10 percent. Boxing might underpay there lower level guys but atleast the profits in boxing are split 50/50.EDUATISE YO SELF FOOL!!!!!
Drahgoon 1 month ago
@Drahgoon WE don't know anything? But YOU DO? So .. let me get this straight.. UFC does NOT publish revenue to the public.. but YOU KNOW that they only give 10% even though the Owner just stated he paid out approx. 50%...
You, are a weak minded, fool, who eats up media poison like this.
master0068 1 month ago
@master0068 All i know is that being an MMA figher is one of the most brutal jobs there is. To pay a fighter 12,000 dollars for a fight is exploitation. Lorenzo Fertida is a scum bag, reptilian mob boss and is just mad that he is finally being exposed. He and Dana White(aka Mr.cokehead).does'nt want people to know the truth.
Drahgoon 1 month ago
@Drahgoon I train Jiu Jitsu, and go to the gym 4-6 times a week. I know how hard training is, but I have a full time job. My full time Job pays me 150$ a DAY, to get paid 12000$ for 1 fight, is hardly peanuts. Some of the fighters fight for 500$ a fight in small organizations, so do your research. Just because something takes a lot of hard work doesn't mean a company should throw away their money on someone who hasn't proven themselves. Try getting hired at a job for 200k without having rep
master0068 1 month ago
@master0068 I have boxed and kickboxed since i was twelve because striking is superior to jiu-jiutsu is e every posible way. but any ways what i am trying to say is that people need to understand that being a fighter is brutal because you are putting the quality of your thinking on the line.12000$ for a fight slave wage. You would'nt know because you work for 150$ a day, if that isn't exploitation then i dont kow what is.You americans really need to stop being controled by capitilism and start
Drahgoon 1 month ago
@Drahgoon You are a moron. Royce Gracie proved Jiu Jitsu is the most dominant martial arts, clearly you know nothing about the sport. Nobody is forcing fighters to fight. If they don't like the pay they can go work elsewhere like everyone else.
master0068 1 month ago
@master0068 a)Jiu jitsu is so 1994. All you need to do to beat jiu-jitsu is know wrestling.
b) If fighters go work elsewhere they get blacklisted by the zuffa. nazi dictators.

listen you idiots! it is about the total % of revenue that the UFC pays out to it's fighters. other sports pay around 50%. UFC? we don't know. it could be 10%.

Not terrible for a man fighting in his first UFC fight with no popularity.
sacatripa 1 month ago
espn is mad cuz ufc took kenny and jon anik from mma live
UMMABL 1 month ago
And to compare the UFC to the big four Sports leagues is totally and completley unfair. The UFC doesn't have the tv and merchandising deals the NFL, MLB, NBA, or even the NHL. What has espn become, the National Enquirer of sports?
drubeast 1 month ago
So you have to win in order to make more money. That's weird. Why the hell is espn going after the UFC. I think it because of the FOX deal... espn is mad they got outbid
drubeast 1 month ago
espn this is by far the dumbest piece you've done.
TheZangcast 1 month ago
the UFC is still getting off the ground (to make itself more mainstream), so fighter pay and any other issues may have to wait.
