I appreciate you taking the time to share. I enjoy vegging on chess vids maybe one day I'll actually become a strong player. One thing about just following opening lines is you can trap yourself by not just playing the game. The openings give a great understanding on how to start and go from there
@GreenCastleBlock, in move 15, if a3 x b4, is there´s is Nxb4, with a serious mate threat with the white queen overloaded? Thanks for the video! Regards from Brazil
i quite enjoyed the video in this style i.e. after the game... it allowed you to actually "play out" certain lines on the board, which helped visualise the decisions you had to make...
I think it's a really good idea for a video. Sure, there's an extra thrill and "authenticity" to a live game, but, on balance, I don't know if this kind of a solitary post-mortem isn't even better. There's little doubt that not having to make live commentary must benefit the quality of play.
I'll remember the tip to be confident when looking for the winning lines in an ending where I have advantage.
@illmaculatechess If you believe Wikipedia, 1...f5 is supposed to be "the answer" to 1.e3 because after 2.d4 White is in a passive Dutch. But I believe there are a couple moves for White that are much more interesting.
1.e3 is a great move for people who have a good understanding of why some opening moves are better than others. It's especially good against people who merely memorize opening lines and focus most of their studies on middlegame tactics or endgames.
Long time watcher, so I know you are smart when it comes to openings (If anyone disagrees just watch his video on the Greencastle Indian), so 1.e3 is a great move for you
@HDAlexDo I don't really think openings or opening lines matter until you have a FIDE title. I think people who look at openings and memorize lines and are expert level or below do so just so they can get into a certain general array of positions where they already know all the basic strategic plans for both sides, this gives a certain advantage, I don't think they are necessarily under the impression that merely memorizing certain opening lines is going to automatically result in wins.
is your "fish" the same as kc's "bunny"? very weak opponent?

@MrHaha1508 Never said it was for beginners. Also I admit at least twice this opening is not fundamentally sound

Cute idea. 15.axb4 Nxb4 16.Rxa8 Qxa8 and 17.Qxb4 gets mated on ..Qa1+. BUT what about 17.f3, stopping all mates and Black has 2 pieces hanging?

@GreenCastleBlock Thanks again! :)
