i think it also has to do with the maps. on maps like this, where you can easily secure your natural and another expo, it's easier to go carriers. furthermore, they do provide the mobility that you need on monty hall
arbiters get shot out of the sky by goliaths in a few seconds, and a good mech spread can prevent high area's of stasis. carriers are just more mobile and effective if used properly. but knowing the sc scene, arbiters will make at least one big appearance soon for fan pleasure
Carrier is also a good unit to harrass T's expansion. Especially when there is a valley near the expansion, you can maximize carrier's attack.

Anyone know why arbiters have fallen out of fashion in PvT games? It seems like the late game weapon of choice is always carriers nowadays...
