@MisterScott99 well you know. I see this for the first time. I thought that you need to "blow", hit or press some instrument to play the sound, but on this instrument you don't touch anything.. You just move your hands and you get the sound..
How many years have you been practicing on that instrument, and is it easy?
@Unbeaten93 We move our hands in the instrument's electrical field to change the volume and pitch of the sound, closer to or farther from the antennas. This performance was after about 3 years of practice, but I've been a musician all my life (keyboards and percussion). Playing the theremin is a lot like whistling or humming. It's widely considered one of the easiest to play but the most difficult to play well.
@kabanosi These are around $400 new. It's an EtherWave" made by Moog Music. I got mine as a kit from zzounds.com. You might find some good deals for an EtherWave on ebay because lots of people abandon the instrument.
Most music shops will order them in if you ask. My local shop was ecstatic when I ordered mine. They couldn't wait for it to come in, seemed like they were more excited than I was when it finally arrived. They did however say that the only way they'd order it was if I hung out at the store for at least an hour with them so we could play with it when it came in and they promised not to open it before I got there
Different kind of wood, different look and finish, othewise same exact theremin. I bought the build-it-yourself kit. I built mine in one night. I have LOTS of experience with electronics and don't recommend the risk to a beginner who's never built electronics before.
Despite the large amount of vibrato, Scott still has centered the pitch of each note very accurately. If he was merely using vibrato to "cover up" note inaccuracy, you would be able to tell. This is an excellent performance.
Aaron, I stopped playing theremin about two years ago. I just felt the world should see what I was able to accomplish. I've got a few more samples to post but have no plans for any new material. Thanks to everyone for appreciating the postings.
Oh, man... I just read this and it makes me sad. Well you are a good theremin player and don't forget that. I'm sad to see you leave the theremin community but we must do as we feel is right for our selves. What did you do with your theremin, have you sold it?
Very well done!!!!! I can't tell you how hard it is to find a good thereminist on YouTube! A real treat to see I can't Help Falling in Love With You played so well. A difficult selection due the odd pitches but I feel you pulled it off great! Well done!
Scott How have you been lately? I just wanted to say hi and tell you I isten to this like every day! Its great! You should upload a few more videos on theremin or piano!
hahahahahaha:D
