The whole Jack and Gwen flirtation always felt so forced to me, so I'm glad they steered away from that in the second series. John and Eve have both said that their characters don't have THAT kind of relationship lately. Which is good, because I love her with Rhys, and Jack is so broken now without Ianto. Sigh.
I really liked the idea of Jack and Gwen as a couple, and have no problem with Jack being gay - but i hate that the show basically tricked us into thinking that there was a possibility!
