  • Good video.. Helpful and descriptive.

  • @JerseyFlipah Thanks!

  • America has more natural resources- water, natural gas, petroleum, forests, then any country in the world, communists want to take it away from you through "conservation". Gorbachev toured colleges after the fall of communism and preached, we can achieve complete control through environmentalism.

  • thank you great video. easy to watch and very informative....

  • Thanks for posting this video..I think that I can fix my running toilet now.

  • No experience in this type of work at all but you made it simple so off to Home Depot to

buy exactly what you described. Thanks for a job well done.

  • @CARDIOHEARTBEAT I hope it worked for you. Thanks for the feedback!

  • @danielfoofan Way to go!

  • So our master toilet has been running for weeks. After BEGGING my husband to fix it, in defeat, I just shut off the water supply and stopped using that toilet all together. Now, I've noticed if I do forget and use our master toilet in the middle of the night, it still doesn't fill when I turn the water supply back on. HELP!!!!!

  • @bklynbornbajan It is likely the flapper and the valve...

  • @SnowLeopardKelli replace it with a fluidmaster 400a fill valve

  • i swear i'm going to kill my toilet!!! my "ballcock" thing is really weird looking... kinda like a white plastic box attached to a pipe. anyway my mom couldn't fix it and in the middle of the night i hear it and try to fix it. i eventually turned off the water and taped an "out of order" sign on the door. please i really need to fix this thing or im going to go all ninja on it THANKS

  • @SnowLeopardKelli i found out my ballcock is called a corky...

  • Hi. I thought my running toilet prob was the ball/float thing at end of metal bar. I tried adjusting but the water level in tank still gets too high - higher than that overflow thing. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions? I'm a girl trying to fix myself! :-)

Hopi g I don't have to replace something but can't get it to stop running!! TIA!

  • @amyalex1323, Sounds like it is the valve (as shown in the video). Just follow the video and you should be able to fix it. You can do it!

    Good luck,

    Joshua

  • Thank you

  • Best video! I'm a mom of three and have no experience in fixing toliets. Besides having my tools walk away with my three year old, it was easy to fix.

  • zOMG Thank you! It was taking half an hour or more for my toilet to stop running. :( I've only ever dealt with toilets that have the floater ball, so I had no clue how to fix it... Until now! <3

  • @fordxg You're welcome! Fixing things makes me fell like I am not completely useless!

  • Thanks! Really like the video. I like the old fill valve. Can I keep that fill valve because it has minerals and it looks old and I like it. I'll keep watching your video and I'll give you a fill valve to keep if you give me the one you have. It's ok if threw the fillvalve away or can't keep it. That toilet is my favorite model.

  • My toilets been running for a while now, didn't know it was so easy to fix.

    Thanks :)

  • Thanks for the very informational video. You made this a breeze!

  • @AZSue Great! You're quite welcome! Glad it could help.

  • Awesome video. Thanks. I have the type that has the floating ball, and the water level is too high. Tried tightening the screw down, bending the rocker arm, etc...but still runs. not sure if I need a whole new one or not.

  • @vanillahunk Sorry to take so long to get back... the valves are pretty cheap so I would just replace it.

  • thank you! I'll have to head to the store soon and get the parts, but I think I may be able to do this on my own now. I really appreciate you sharing this. :)

  • @SpearTwain No problem!! Good luck, if you run into any trouble I can try to help you out...

  • thank you! you did a great job and saved me at least 100.00:)

  • @SpearTwain Hope it went well and your welcome!

  • @takapitcha Thanks for the feedback!! Way to go!

  • This was helpful. =D I thought I had to do this to my toilet, but thank GOODNESS I just had to push down the flap! =DDD *whew*

  • Respond to this video...

  • Hi twsol, I changed my old valve same company as yours, everything works fine except when water is fiiling up in the tank, it is still flowing in the toilet bowl too and once tank gets filled up the toilet flow stops too. Is there something wrong? Thanx for the help in advance.

  • @you2ube2008 Glad that the video was useful in getting it to stop! I don't believe anything is wrong... The water enters the toilet beneath the flapper. When you flush a toilet you essentially raise the flapper to let all the water flow into the toilet. This also makes the valve drop and open the water supply. The flapper is slowly falling down in the remaining water *and water that is filling*. This may be why you still get some water running in the tank while its being flushed.

  • @twelvesolutions Thanks a lot for your reply.you saved me and my wife $80, what we were supposed to pay to our building superintendent inicially.

  • check out speedyvalve by floodmaster it will help out in this project

  • Thanks for this, very helpful! So nice not to have to manually cut off the fill every time we flush.

  • what the heck is a needlenose screwdriver?

  • @THEBEERISALLGONE I made that one up! I realized that after I made the video but couldn't go back and change it. That's what happens I guess when you do things in real time. Thanks for watching!

  • @Th3Uploader I am sorry to hear that. At least it's at your house and not someone elses! You have an obstruction in the drain part of your toilet so it won't flush properly. The easist thing to do is get a plunger and plunge the drain a good 3-5 times. You should see the water level go down and it should clear the obstruction. Good Luck and hope this helps!

  • I'm a little embarrassed to ask this but how do I stop the toilet from flooding over. I did a number two and now the toilet is flooded but I can't get the water to go back regular without almost overflowing out of the toilet. Please help dude thanks. Kyle

  • @CheFuser No problem! Glad it helped!

  • Thanks very much for this video. I now feel confident to repair my (intermittant) running toilet.

I was worried before but now have supreme confidence that I can manage it without flooding the house. Thanks again...

  • @randycornhole Great! If it is running intermittently it may be the flapper (usually a red rubber thing). What happens is the rubber deteriorates over time and the seal between the tank and the drain is compromised. Thjs means the water will drain very slowly triggering the valve "intermittently" so I would definitely replace the flapper too. It comes in the kit I showed on the video.. Good Luck!!

  • great video! great descriptions of problem and the steps and items to solve it. the real world setting definitely helps. going to fix the toilet now and save money. thanks again, great job.

  • Okay, I'm back now with another problem. The toilet is hissing. Do you have a video for that? I replaced the flapper. Water is not flowing into the overflow tube. I'm going to try the food coloring in the tank to see if it goes into the toilet. I guess that would mean a leaky flush valve seal.

  • elainemax2, I am sorry but can you provide more detail? Did you replace the valve (upright plastic thing in the video) or the flapper (red thing connected to the handle -usually by a chain)? Hissing can come from a bad toilet valve, from the water supply line valve on the wall when its not open all the way, or from a leaking flapper. Does the toilet fill? is it full of water?

  • It started hissing after I replaced the fill valve again because it was clogged and was barely letting water out. This time I cleaned the bottom of the tank good. Repaced the flapper but didn't help. I have been turning the water on and off at the floor. Yesterday the hissing was gone! So it must have been the water supply line. I had and still have it almost all the way open. Thanks for all your help. Of all my research on hissing, the water supply line was never mentioned.

  • elainemax2, Good deal! Thanks for following up!

    Joshua
