Great video, but would just like to mention that the abbreviations in the video are for US terms, if you are reading a British pattern the terminology will be different. :)
thank you so much for your videos, i have made the popcorn stitches and the V stitches, also the ripple pattern for baby blankets and enjoyed it a lot.....your editorials are awesome and i appreciate learning from you......thank you....Mamoo126
Thank you very much! Your videos are great! Your explanation is always very clear and easy to follow. They help me a lot. You are so kind. Thank you very much again. :-)
thank-you for explaining on how to read picture crochet abbreviations. You are a pro and have a clear and soft voice to teach others your talent. princess0553
thnx4 the fast reply teresa , but a 4.5 mm hook is the largest i could find , i use an acryl ( acrylique) yarn , should i use another material , such as what , i mean what do u use ? =D
AWESOME TERESA ,ur videos r so gr8 , but i hav a problem wiz my crochet , my stitches r so small n close 2 each other , i use a 4.5 mm hook , does it depend on the hook n the material anyway ? i know u can fix it ..=D
I would recommend using a larger crochet hook and maybe even yarn. It is possible that you may be crocheting tight. Your materials will cause you to create tighter stitches.
First let me thank you SO MUCH! for your wonderful tutorials! I learned how to start crocheting from you :)
About the diagrams, this video made things a bit clearer, but there are some that seem impossible to do! E.g 3 chains and then on top 7 db crochet st., how do you work that? Would you be so kind to make more video/s explaining how to knit following the diagrams? Thank you so much for your kindness in sharing your knowledge! You got me motivated to learn more and more! Thank you Theresa!
You should have a chain and then a first row. Just concentrate on the first row and don't read through the rest of the pattern until you have completed the first row.
I've recommended your tutorials to my sister who needs to brush up on her crochet skills. You are far batter at teaching than I could ever be. Thanks for taking the time to keep this amazing craft alive. :)
Wow, I've been looking all over youtube all day for someone who explains is well. I used to crochet when i was younger (8 years ago) and I remember the simple things but I can't remember how to read the patterns for the life of me. I've been trying to reteach myself and some of these patterns are just so hard to read. Not so much what the abbreviations mean, but what the next step is. I sometimes read the next step and go "wait, how do I go from point A to point B?"
The abbreviation is REM = Remain-remaining-remainder.Remain is used in a couple of different ways. It could be used for Remaining Round or Remaining Stitches. There should be detailed instructions guiding you to how it is being used. A lot of crochet patterns are just repeated wording and stitches. Sometimes the pattern may say to continue in the remaining stitches. Continue throughout the remainder of the round.
i always watch your videos...i just want to thank u that i learned so much from you...i'm happy because i've already made a one hat for my niece...if u dont mind, if u have time, would you teach me how to make a sexy swimwear....plsssssssss....thank you and god bless you all the time!
i give you two tumbs up love it, i am a begginer

I use a size I or 5.5mm hook and 4-ply acrylic yarn for most demonstrations.

You are welcome. What is a 7 db crochet stitch? Sometimes the stitches have several different names for the same stitch. I have not heard of db.

what does tr mean?
I was doing this shrug and i got stuck.

I am thinking it would be triple crochet. Usually you will see abbreviations for triple crochet as TC or TRC.
