  • How much does a rifle like this cost?

  • I got a new swat 556 ,I love the look and the way it is set up. Buy I dont like my trigger . can you help.

  • @Fastflyingpigs

Hathcocked passed away 9 months ago, dude.

  • @SturmKorps Man that is to bad ,I think I remember Pete sayin something about that,,sorry

  • thanks for the video. I recentlly purchased my first sig 556 rifle and was very nervous about taking it down , cleaning / oiling and mostly the reassembly! your vid was helpful but I was wondering if you might be doing a more comprehensive take-down / reassembly video in the near future... thanks again

  • thanks for the vid, very helpful.

  • why does the sig 556 put the recoil spring in the gas tube? in there some advantage to this as opposed to the spring behind the bolt carrier as in the AK? (the only other long piston gas system i know)

  • Nice video and nice rifle. AK reliability with AR accuracy. And at $1100 bucks it is half the price of most AR piston guns. e.g. 516 and ruger 556.

  • @4Tcal

Actually a Sig 516 goes for about $999.

  • excellent, thank you.

  • cool gun and nice vid THANKS!!

  • RIP JASON!!

  • thanks for the reply.....i know what u mean about trusting your life to an aimppoint or eo but if this was all you had when shtf i guess you wouldnt have a choice lol love the sig!!!

  • thanks for the vid....i have a bunch of AR's but im ready to buy my uncles 556 and im excited. I never stripped his 556 but that BCG does look exactly like the AK"s. I was goin to buy my 1st AK but i think since the Sig is similiar and more modern im going to skip the AK. Although the AK is a long stroke design, what is the sig??? Lastly, i have the exact same PA M3 clone and i love it!!! I have it on a Sig 522, how does it handle the recoil of the 556??? Do u trust it on a 5.56? Thank u

  • @dirtyboy3364 The piston system is the same as the AK for the most part, it's also long stroke. The PA M3 clone has been 100% for me so far, if I were entrusting my life to the reliability of this rifle I would spend the extra money and get an aimpoint or eotech. That being said the PA optic is more then good enough for range duties, it has held a zero fine for me and get's the job done.

  • Thanks for the field strip and cleaning guide ! It helped me alot !! I went shooting today and put about a hundred rounds or soo of american eagle FMj's 55 grain, fired smoothly and without a problem, the cold bore accuracy was amazing and the original Sig dot sight was amazingly easy to zero in took like maybe 5 shots or soo to get it spot on zero. Any suggestions on good range ammo ? What are your thoughts about the remington 200 box or the american eagle rounds?

  • @harisarif No problem at all, glad I could help in some say! That's great to hear that your Sig ran well for you. I use PMC Bronze a lot, it's cheap and runs pretty clean. Most of the time I just end up using Brown Bear or Silver Bear due to lack of funds on my part. The heavier the round you can run the better, my Sig loves 62gr +. There is nothing wrong with the Remington or American Eagle ammo, they are both decent. I have seen the best accuracy in my gun using Black Hills Heavy Match.

  • @harisarif these guns have 1 in 7 twists I think, so it should like 62gr green tip and heavier ammo

  • @labartic For sure, the heavier the better.

  • do you think the PMags are a good investment for the SiG ?

  • @harisarif I run nothing but pmags in my Sig, in my opinion they are the best mags out there.

  • what scope do you have ??

  • @harisarif It's a Primary Arms Red Dot.

  • @hathcocked Thats cool any chance I can get the price for that one and if its worth it ?

  • @harisarif They are $70 dollars, just google primary arms to check out their product line. They are a solid low cost red dot and it hasn't given me any problems. If you search my other videos I have a review of it.

  • @hathcocked My wife bought me a 556 classic with the sig red dot combo from cabelas, she got both of them for like 1599

  • @hathcocked My wife bought me a 556 classic with the sig red dot combo from cabelas, she got both of them for like 1599 Ive flipped the front sight up and trying to figure out how to flip it back down ( embarrasing i know but its my first sig )

  • @harisarif That's a pretty decent price, they seem to be $1200-$1700 right now. My 556 is one of the early models that had the fixed from sight so I'm not sure how the flip sights operate on the newer ones, sorry I couldn't be of more help.

  • @hathcocked no worries I got it taken care of, apparently they arent flip on the front sights any more because of the hooded front sights, you need an allen key and a really thin thing to push a pin out of the other end and then un screw the front end open and slide the sight off, I only did that so i could mount the sig sights it came with.

  • camera mounted to forehead FTW! lol jk, but nice video, really want a swat

  • @crazybread1337 Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching.

  • nice vid... im pickin up the 556 swat today, cant wait to shoot it!

  • @BallistiKRicK Awesome man, I've sure you will love it. Let me know how it runs for you.

  • @BallistiKRicK hi how much did you pay for the 556? thanx

  • Hi, do you know if regular AR Flip up sights like Troy would work on a Sig556??? Thanks!

  • @RubiconTSL If they will fit on a standard rail they will work on the 556.

  • @hathcocked Thanks for your reply. But I was looking at the one in the front of your rifle and it seems to be a Micro size flip up sight, Am I correct???

Also, What's your opinion on this rifle? Is it reliable? Any FTF, FTE? Please let me know, I just build a Piston AR and I'm disappointed, I'm looking for something else to buy, thanks!

  • @RubiconTSL I have an earlier production version of the 556 and my front sight is fixed and doesn't flip down. You can remove the standard sight pretty easily from the front, that's what most people do. The diopter version of the iron sights is pretty nice, mine just came with the little emergency flip up in the back which I consider to be poor. As far as reliability this rifle has been 100%, I have never experienced any issues in over 2k rounds. It is front heavy, but other then that I love it.

  • @hathcocked - Have you seen the models with that cheap folding stock? Obviously yours doesn't have that. How do you change it out? Can ALL Sigs change out those "stock" stocks with a quality telescopic? How does that work with the hinge mechanism in the way?

  • @rockon333 My 556 is one of the earlier versions, in order to use an AR style stock with the current version's of the 556 you have to get an adaptor. You can google "AR-15 stock adapter for SIG 556 Classic", there is a company called Double Diamond that produces them. The best option would be to track down an earlier 556 like mine if that's the setup you want. I am not a fan of those folders either.

  • @hathcocked - have ever seen an extended or oversized bolt release? They have tons of them for AR's but it would be really nice to have one for the SIG. Quick mag changes are important to me!

  • @rockon333 I can't say that I have. If you have smaller hands changing the grip might help. The stock Sig grip is pretty thick and with shorter fingers it's a bit of a reach to the mag release. The Magpul grip's will fit with a bit of dremel work.

  • Can it shoot a .223 cal or it needs to be a 5.56mm ?

  • @spdpwr1 Nope it can shoot both. Rifles chambered for the nato 5.56 can handle .223 because it has less pressure. While you can damage a rifle chambered for .223 shooting 5.56 because of the increased pressure. The Sig will eat both with no problems. Happy shooting!

  • beatyful and strong ;D

  • hey i also have one more question to ask, by any chance is your bolt carrier showing signs of wear anywhere? i was browsing around on the internet and found a sig 556 forum site where i saw and read some pretty nasty stories about peoples bolt carriers showing signs of damage like something is rubbing into it

  • @johnnye222 Mine still isn't showing any cracking or wear from rubbing at all, I have seen that problem but haven't experienced it myself.

  • thanks for posting this vid up, now i can look back if i'm hesitant about taking my new sig 556 swat patrol apart

  • @johnnye222 No problem, glad I could help out.

  • Man, I love this gun. Its so well engineered, looks fantastic. Never had a chance to fire one unfortunately.

    Great vid, very thorough, thanks!

  • @Misterwhalley88 I wouldn't trade it for any other rifle out there, I'm still excited every time I take it to the range. I hope you get a chance to shoot one some day! Thanks for watching.

  • how would you rate the sig over all im looking to spend bout 6500 to buy a m4 bushmaster/gg&g personal defence system from talon arms is the sig an overall good weapon

  • @illshowumyrifle59 I have never had a jam or malfunction in over 2k rounds. It's accurate and soft shooting. It is front heavy as people will tell you but it doesn't bother me. I find it very controllable because it has a bit of heft to it. The best advice I can give you is try and find one you can rent and try it out. I am very happy with mine.

  • good video, thanks! fyi they can't 'keep' the paddle style bolt release because the one shown is the one on the original sig 550 design. still very helpful and again, thanks.

  • @armywallace Yeah I realize the 550/551 didn't have a paddle release. While they made it work with AR mags I would have liked to see the paddle style release come from that rifle as well. I didn't mean to imply it was an original feature. Glad I could be of some help, thanks for watching!

  • why the hell are you wearing gloves, jackass?

    must have some gnarly hands.

  • @nifepartie Your mom said she thinks they are sexy.

  • @hathcocked Classic. Thanks for the great video. Very informative.

  • @InJeffWeTrust Thanks! Glad I could be of service.

  • Great video on field stripping the sig 556, what size diameter push pin did you have to use .250 or .315?

  • @davids97011 I am not sure on the diameter and I don't have any mics here. It's sold specifically as the "KNS Push Button Pivot Pin - SIG 556" though so you can't really go wrong.

  • Does the rubber behind the charging handle have any issues with wearing out? Thanks!

  • @wbrock001 I can imagine that eventually it will wear down but after a few thousand rounds mine still looks the same.

  • Magpul CTR is the perfect replacement. Nice choice.

  • @heavensarmory Thanks man!

  • Great Job thanks

  • @bigchase28 No problem! Thanks for watching.

  • Great video- Thanks a million for posting it. I was not comfortable detail cleaning it with the data from the cheesey manual included alone. Great job and thanks again! Rob-- Joliet, IL

  • @fraserr2 Hey Rob, glad I could be of service. When I need to figure something out the first thing I do is head to youtube lol. If you ever have any questions don't hesitate to send them my way. I am no expert but I will help out if I can.

  • cool field strip straight tothe point, hahaha the gloves was a trip. thanks again

  • @martinboyz Glad you liked it, thanks for watching!

  • I just purchased a Sig 556 Swat, and was looking for a video to show how to strip the firearm for cleaning (manual only shows so much...). Thanks for posting this video it was extremely helpful seeing exactly how it is disassembled. Will recommend to other enthusiasts.

  • @fenrirshaman Cool man, glad I could be of service. I am sure you will love the swat. Mine is still running great for me.

  • This video is what I really needed to watch a few times before cleaning my new 556 SCM for the first time.. I'm getting one of those K & S pins also Thanks for posting.

  • @Frankie19670320 No problem, glad I could help.

  • Great vid man, thanks for posting. I got a 556 ER as my first LR and I'm a little hesitant about field stripping it the first time, but with this walk through I should have zero issues.

  • @boogeyratt Congrats on the purchase, I always like to hear from other 556 owners. It is very simple I am sure you will have no problems. If you every have any questions don't hesitate to ask. I am no expert by any means but I will help if I can.

  • Im set on buying a 556 but im torn between the normal 556 for the awesome look and the SWAT for the functionality and durability of the quad raill Do you think the extra money for the SWAT model is worth it?

  • @CptVog I think the Swat model looks great and it does provide more options accessory wise. But if I had to do it over again I would probably not get the quad rail and lighten up the front of the gun. If you decide you want a quad rail later on you could always pick up the excellent troy battle rail for the Sig.

  • I picked up the Swat, I liked the folding stock.

  • quick question i am not made of money and cant afford the greatest ammo in the world so i am curious will it run on wolf ammo. cuz thats the problem i am having now with my ar wont shoot steel cased ammo and i dont have alot of money to buy thosands of rounds of brass to get alot of shooting in.

  • @dp665 My 556 has never jammed and I am around the 3k round mark. I have shot everything from Black hills match all the way to Steel cased Wolf fmj and I have never had a problem. Obviously every gun is different but I have had 0 issues with steel cased ammo.

  • Thanks for the lesson.

  • @HAWK1584 Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video.

  • Glad you posted this video.*****

  • @OilTheGun Thanks as always for watching bro.

  • does anyone know if that quad rail will fit on a airsoft Cybergun Sig 556

  • Excellent video. Have you tried steel cased ammunition in this rifle?

  • Yeah I have. Can't afford to shoot anything else at this point lol. It has functioned 100% so far knock on wood with every brand of ammo I have thrown at it.

  • hey hathcocked.

    WTF happened to superharmless?

his videos were cool, and so are yours of course but WTF happened to his account?

Email me if ya know his new YT name plz.

  • I was wondering the same thing man. I thought me and him were friends and he just disappeared one day. As far as I know he doesn't have a new channel. I hope all is well with him and he finds his way back to YT some day. Let me know if you ever see him around.

  • Great work my friend. I just bought my 556 swat shorty 2 weeks ago and nowI can field strip it!! Thanks a bunch

    Phil

  • Congrats on the purchase man. Glad you enjoyed the video.

  • Yeah I just did a clean on it last night and your video made it so simple. Thanks for the reply.

BTW, what ammo do you prefer?

  • It depends on what I can afford to shoot at the time really. If money is tight I run Wolf. If I can afford to shoot brass I get PMC Bronze 55gr. If I am going for max accuracy PRVI Partizan 75gr or Black Hills 62gr match. The heavier the better.

  • Great info!I downloaded this and favorited it.I am ordering that pin right now. Thanks 5*s.

  • That pin is probably the single best thing you can do to your Sig. I put a bunch of scratches on my lower trying to break it down with that stupid double screw design. Thanks for watching Bill, if you ever have any questions just let me know.

  • Really nice video. I bought an AR-15 the other day, but they had a SIG-556 on display too and i really struggled back and forth on which one to buy. The SIG had a really nice balance to it and construction looked solid. I had to stay utilitarian though so I went ahead with the AR-15 purchase but now the AR is sitting in the closet and I am watching SIG 556 videos !!!

  • Hah I do the same thing, buy one item then obsess over another. I am sure the AR will serve you well. You can always pick up a Sig down the road.

  • dude that is an excellent rifle and video, could you tell me what your model is? i am looking to buy a sig 556 and i want the fixed stock.

  • The one I have is a SIG 556-005 Swat. They don't make this version anymore, sorry to tell you. They moved to all classic style lowers. There is a company called doublediamondsupply that is coming out with an adaptor but I don't think they have released it yet. These early 555's are getting harder to find. I saw one on gunbroker earlier for $1500.

  • wait so they dont make a 556 that has a fixed stock? all of them are folding stocks now? wow that sucks, is there a way to turn a folding stock model into a fixed stock?

  • I don't believe there is but I don't have any experience with the newer style 556's. The best thing to do would be to sign up on the sigarms556 forum and ask there, it's full of very knowledgeable people.

  • Sig customer service is sad. Their rear stocks do not lock to the tube. Sad....

  • I have never had one of their folding stocks. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

  • Awesome Sig! Good to see another Sig owner!

  • Thanks bro! I know Sig is getting a bad rap these day's but I have over 3k rounds through my 556 so far with no issues.

  • Yeah, I've put around 1300 rounds through my Sig 556, and NEVER had a jam. My dumbass friend even dropped the rifle in the sand at our outdoor range (because he heard how reliable it is), and it fired excellently. But, he'll never go shooting with me again. Just like with screwing with a biker's bike, you don't fuck with a Sig owner's Sig lol.

  • Hah I hear that. You are a better man then me, if one of my friends did that they would have been walking home from the range lol.

  • Well, he paid for my $20 lunch, but the 556 is one of those rifles that I am glad that I own and I wouldn't ever sell. Mine's the Classic, but your Swat(?) is a really nice configuration.

  • I have actually been thinking about picking up the classic forend or some of the original Sig 551 hand guards. The swat rail looks great but is pretty heavy.

  • Rule # 1. never surrender your weapon.

  • Too bad it's not even close to the real Swiss SIG 550. The American clones shouldn't even be sold under the SIG brand, what a scam.

  • First of all it's not a clone of the 550, nor was it meant to be. The 556 has a lower made to accept standard m16 magazines. They share the same operating system but are 2 different rifle's. I don't understand how it's a scam? My 556 is sub moa with 75gr ammo and I have yet to have a ftf/fte or jam of any kind.

  • Hey, my quad rail WILL NOT come apart and come off the gun. Have looked everywhere for assistance on how to take it apart. You mention in this video taking apart the quad rails. Will you post a video showing you taking apart the quad rails?

  • My quad rails come off easily so I don't know how much of a help it will be, but sure I will make a video later today.

  • moron

  • I wish it was made of all steel like a Sig 550. Sometimes I think the American Sig products skimp on quality compared to the real Swiss ones.

  • I would agree that the Sig 550 is of higher quality. I think going with aluminum lightened up a fairly heavy rifle so I don't disagree with the choice in this case.

  • @hathcocked

In fully automatic mode (I know its only semi), would changing the piston to the emergency setting increase the rate of fire?

  • I think the rate of fire would remain the same, don't quote me on that though.

  • sig is better than a ar15 because they almost never break they dont jam very eazy and they kick ass

  • i heard its a bad gun

  • I have had absolutely no problems with it. My best friend enjoyed shooting mine so much he bought his own.

  • @hathcocked

I know im slamming you with questions tonight, but what is the bolt and carrier made from? Will it rust if you dont have a chance to properly clean it?

  • I am not sure about the materials used in the bolt and carrier. I have shot the rifle in rain and didn't clean it for 5 days and found no signs of rust on it. For specific technical questions you should check out the sigarms556 forum. There are some really competent people over there that could answer better then I can.

  • I really doubt it would rust.

  • i love it.why don t you sale it for $

    28

  • Excellent video! I have a Sig 556 and am glad to have this as a reference along with manual. I am new to shooting and I found the manual to be confusing and the diagrams difficult to understand. This helps alot! Great Job.

  • Hey I am glad you found this video useful! I always find it easier to learn watching someone do it then reading the manual. I usually search youtube first lol. How is your 556 running for you? Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • nice video im only used to the sig 550 but i love the hole sig line

i think this are some of the best rifles in the world...

    why are you wearing gloves???

    greetnings from Switzerland

  • I really wish I could get a Sig 550 here. I wear gloves because I want the focus to be on the gun and not my hands. Thanks for commenting!

  • Nice instruction. What size K and S pin does this take? thanks!

  • I am not sure on the sizing. It is sold specifically as the SIG 556 Push Button Pivot Pin on the KNS web site.

  • how new is this model? how much wieght difference is there between this model and an equicalent gas assested railed AR? interesting i always thought the 556 mag release was under the reciever in front of the trigger gard. what yr did they change that?

  • The 556 has been out for a few years. The weight difference isn't huge but noticeable. It's around 8 pounds with polymer furniture and 9 with the aluminum quad rails. The Sig 550 series had the AK style mags with the release in front of the trigger guard. The Sig 556 uses AR15 mags so that has went away in favor of the AR style release.

  • cool. thanks :)

  • so it's basically ak technology with ar ergos chambered in 556?

  • That is a pretty fair assessment. Adjustable gas system, AK style bolt and gas piston, AR ergo's and caliber. It's pretty much a combination of the good features from each rifle.

  • good stuff

  • great video, thanks. if you had a chance to buy the gun again, would you? i am on the fence about buying one. any problems or things you don't like? or any advice? thanks

  • The only thing I dislike is the weight in the front due to the heavy gas piston. I was always an AK guy though so I am used to it. Other then that it has run 100% flawlessly. I have a few thousand rounds through it so far with no jams or ftf's(knock on wood). I would buy it again in a heart beat. I prefer it over the other gas piston offerings for simplicity of design and ease of maintenance.

  • Wow Nice Vid Really Helpful...I just put lay away down on the last one of these my gun shops had and im paying it off on the 20th im excited Because its a very nice gun...and this vid helped cuz i dont know anything about AR style weapons

  • Congratulations on the purchase! The Sig is really simple and more AK like in operation then AR. I am sure you will be very happy with it and if you have any questions feel free to ask me.

  • Nice vid, I'm considering buying one and these helped me out with learning the design.

  • Cool I am glad to be of service. If you get a 556 I am sure you will love it.

  • Nice vid man

  • Thanks!

  • ultimate blend between the two types of rifles, great shooter and amazingly accurate for a gas piston rifle :)

  • Thanks! I am really happy with it.

  • np, sry bout ur rims. thts shitty.

  • It happens, could have been worse I guess. Thanks again.

  • I wish i could afford one of these. 5*

  • I wish I could afford it too..... I didn't let that stop me from buying it. I just had to eat ramen noodles for dinner for a short time. Okay maybe for a long time. Okay so maybe I am still eating them lol. Seriously though I just kept saving my pennies.

  • cant decide between a full length 16 inch barreled swat or a sbr swat with a 10inch barrel. i dont know if the loose of balistics is worth the ease of manuvoring.

  • There are definite advantages and disadvantages to both. The SBR would have the maneuverability edge and a definite cool factor. But if you want to reach out a touch a target you want the longer barrel. All comes down to your intended use.

  • depends in what you need the gun for. if you need it for target shoting or smth like that get the full length, if you need the gun for home defence, get the short barrel, the max range you need accuracy for is 100 yards max.

  • Awesome video. I loved my Swat. I gotta get me another one.

    5/5+ Subscribed

  • Thanks I always like hearing from other Sig owners.

  • How many rounds do you shoot between cleanings? Are these rifles like AKs where they can go a while in between cleanings?

  • I clean my firearms every time I fire them. That being said this is very much like an AK as far as reliability while dirty. I put 500 rounds through it in one day without running a patch at a training session and had no stoppages.

  • mine's been cleaned three times in 6000 rounds, no stoppages ever

  • Cool, glad to hear it.

  • Q: Do you have a clever way to clean the "inside" of the Gas selector (and) the tiny hole on the gas rod where the gas escapes?? First mod I made was to replace the crappy charging handle. Take a peek at mine if you like. Good video by the way.

  • Very nice Video. I own myself a 556 SWAT and this video is very helpful when you want to do a field strip and its time to clean your weapon, Thanks for the video

  • Thanks!

  • Great Video. I'm thinking about picking one of these up. What is a good price range I should be expecting?

  • For a barebones 556 $1200-$1500. For a swat the going price seems to be in the $1500-$2000 range.

  • Nice vid. I had read about how to disassemble them, but it's nice to see a vid and actually be able to visualize it. ;-)

  • Thanks, glad you found it useful.

  • Nice video, it helped with some research I was doing for a shipmate.

  • Thanks, glad I could be of service.

  • Very nice video you made there, I'll remember this if I should ever need to use this weapon system

  • Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

  • How does it feel shooting offhand? I've heard that it feels front heavy.

    BTW good video.

  • It's front heavy for sure. The swat rail doesn't help the weight much. It's very controllable though and one of the lightest recoiling rifles I've ever shot. I would prefer a lighter/thiner fore end. The aftermarket is starting to pick up for these. Troy just released their Sig 556 battle rail. I might check that out.

  • Very cool, I would love to have an original 550. The main difference is the 556 has an aluminum lower receiver that accepts standard M-16/AR-15 magazines. It also accepts M-16/AR-15 tube stocks. The 556 classic has a similar stock and fore end to the 551. Accuracy wise I would say they are on par. The fit and finish is probably nicer on the actual Swiss gun's. I am very happy with my 556 though. Thanks for commenting.

  • Pretty nice gun! I've got a 550 from the Swiss military. Can you compare the accuracy of this one to the one of the 550?

  • Nice vid. You skipped the important details though: that's a CompM3? What mount? and how does it co-witness?

  • That is a Primary Arms M3 Clone. They got solid reviews on the ar15dotcom forums. As far as clones go it's high quality and has a solid warranty. I have had no issues so far with it holding zero or any daytime brightness issues. It will cowitness with the included low mount but I am running the optional high cant mount for use with a magnifier. These retail for $70-$100 depending on options. I will review it once I put some more rounds down range, don't want to speak to soon as to reliability.
