@weightfeather1 There is definitely a boom mic there because you can see the shadow moving around. Running that boom mic is what I used to do. It's normal to keep that mic even in lip syncs because 1. The guy running it is a union worker and there are rules. 2. This way any ad libbing can be mixed in later. The fact that nothing changes when she turns her head is the giveaway. The acting is not the hard part, the microphone placement is.

Aww Tommy Smothers is adorable and always cracks me up. Funny performance from both - breathtaking vocals as always from Cass. I like how they portray her as desireable and sexy here. Which I think she was anyway! Tommy's whistling at the end was epic.
@crazysingingchick Well this is definitely not live but she was a great voice. This is quite definitely lip synced. It just the way most things were done back then and I am an ex Hollywood sound guy so there are a few give aways that make it rather obvious. Still a funny bit with great music.
They did tend to do a lot of rerecording for the show though. This show didn't always rely on the "single" track the many shows did. Some stuff they actually did live but usually just the two brothers.
@thechurchofdave I disagree, I think this live. Look at 2:03, she makes a little mistake that is not in the original recording, probably because she's acting and singing at the same time.
@gretaleejackson Well as you can see in my statement above they used to "rerecord" for the show. This means they would record a new vocal track for the skit which would have some nuances. They they would sometimes use a live mic during the scene and mix the two together. Almost always choosing the recording over the live mic. Because of union rules and high pay the mic is there weather they use it or not.
You can see the shadow of the boom mike on the left lower corner of the bed at 2:00+
@thechurchofdave Also, it's important to point out here that this is 1968, radio mics at this time are large, bulky and rarely used in this setting. So the only mic in there is the boom, unless they hid one in the bed which as a union hollywood sound guy who placed mics for years, I can tell you there are no good spots there.
The mic you are hearing is a studio mic. That boom mic would pick up every turn of her head. About the only time you might hear the live mic is when she snuggles him.
Oh for goodness sake, its her body she can (and did) do whatever she wants to do with it! Unnatural and unhealthy... @justakidin2011 Yeah, someone needs to come out of the basement and get a life. I well remember seeing this the first time it aired(Oops, telling my age, but so what?). I laughed my ass off then and still do. Cass was an amazing and talented woman. She may not have been a svelt beauty but she was soooooo talented and beautiful in her own way. For some dipshited worm to ridicule her because of her weight is indicative of a nobody whose character and sense of values is shallow and worthless.

She was fat and ugly, but to be fair to her had a beautiful voice that belied her looks. You imagine a hot blonde singing this song. Instead you get a 25 stone lump of lard with a face that would stop a clock. Amazing.

Aww Tommy Smothers is adorable and always cracks me up. Funny performance from both - breathtaking vocals as always from Cass. I like how they portray her as desireable and sexy here. Which I think she was anyway! Tommy's whistling at the end was epic.

@crazysingingchick Well this is definitely not live but she was a great voice. This is quite definitely lip synced. It just the way most things were done back then and I am an ex Hollywood sound guy so there are a few give aways that make it rather obvious. Still a funny bit with great music.
They did tend to do a lot of rerecording for the show though. This show didn't always rely on the "single" track the many shows did. Some stuff they actually did live but usually just the two brothers.

@thechurchofdave I disagree, I think this live. Look at 2:03, she makes a little mistake that is not in the original recording, probably because she's acting and singing at the same time.

@gretaleejackson Well as you can see in my statement above they used to "rerecord" for the show. This means they would record a new vocal track for the skit which would have some nuances. They they would sometimes use a live mic during the scene and mix the two together. Almost always choosing the recording over the live mic. Because of union rules and high pay the mic is there weather they use it or not.
You can see the shadow of the boom mike on the left lower corner of the bed at 2:00+

@thechurchofdave Also, it's important to point out here that this is 1968, radio mics at this time are large, bulky and rarely used in this setting. So the only mic in there is the boom, unless they hid one in the bed which as a union hollywood sound guy who placed mics for years, I can tell you there are no good spots there.
The mic you are hearing is a studio mic. That boom mic would pick up every turn of her head. About the only time you might hear the live mic is when she snuggles him.
