when i had swype on my n8 it was getting stuck

when i turned to horizontal the swype appeared yet when it was on vertical.my keyboard was back to the old one.

Oh btw When u face issues with Ovi store app or other sick issues with the phone backup whatever is important to you via Ovi Suite on Desktop (contacts, Apps Themes, etc).and Then Do A Hard Reset! Don't Say I DIDN'T WARN YOU! Then Restore and be careful It is All At Your Risk because trust me the Nokia Updating Method is pretty F'd Up. If you have hell a lot of Maps and stuff be ready to download the s#it again from scratch! And get pissed off like me for the number of connection errors you face

Running Swype on a Nokia N97. First I did the firmware and other updates via phone/Ovi Store over WiFi for Ovi Store App and Ovi Maps, That was a long F*#@ing process with some issues which made me do a hard reset and then things settled down. Then downloaded Swype from Ovi Store and As instructed Restarted the phone(Must Do This) Then went into the message tapped on the keyboard icon in the list and select either mini qwerty keyboard or Full Qwerty Keyboard, Swype ready, start swyping away! ; )

@hederick that's because Nokia's older Symbian phones are pretty underpowered, and Swype is still in beta. It works best in Android phones, when the manufacturer preloads it ( the latest swype builds are a bit buggier than OEM builds )

You can't be serious, or you don't know what you are talking about. Exactly what do you mean by underpower? Eg. Nokia 5800 XPressMusic has MUCH more than enough CPU power to run Swype wery well. Running eg.Swype is not any problem at all.

@miksuh it has a 434 MHz processor, I've seen Swype on 600 MHz processors and even they lag pretty bad.

434 Mhz is more than enough to run it just fine on Symbian. Remember that eg. Nokia 5800 XPressMusic has also handwriting recognition which is most likely much more heavy for CPU and that works just fine too. I have used Swype on Nokia 5800 XPressMusic and it does work well. 434 Mhz or 600Mhz might not be enough on Android and iPhone but those platforms use more resources and are slower than Symbian on the same speed of CPU.

It seems counter intuitive. It doesn't work the same way as a standard keyboard and its different than any other phone so you would screw yourself up when you go to use a friends phone.

It seems like you would miss the letter you are aiming for therefore making it inaccurate most of the time.

This works really good once you can install it... because, on 5800, you have to install it in the internal memory, and the menu of the plugin is kind of... invisible .__.

Appart from that, it's really intuitive.

Personally I don't take lessons for who is not capable to implement any native QWERTY touch keyboard in their touch screen phone ... native input on Nokia 5800 is till a dummy virtual 12 digit touch traditional phone keyboard ... so .. by default Nokia want people to enter B, by pressing twice virtual key 2 twice ... that's saying all
