I could swear this song was on the original Breakin' (not "Breakdance") LP soundtrack. I had it, and I think either at the end of Side 1 or Side 2 (I really think it was at the end of Side 1) was "Tour de France" by 10 Speed (I remember it was written as "Tenspeed"). I can't find any reference on the Internet as to this mystery, why it's not listed on any existing LP's of the Breakin' soundtrack. I KNOW I had it on that record of mine, I'm not crazy; can someone back me up on this?

I have the LP record of "Breakdance" (10 speed version)", and the Kraftwork 12inch record as well.

I also have the Breakdance 1 and 2 LPs, and this is NOT on it.

I have the Breakdance 1 and 2 DVDs, and in the credits it says "Tour De France performed by Kraftwork".

krafwerk's member names are credited on the label as writers because that's the law. they wrote the original. it is a cover version done by john driscoll under the alias 10 speed. seems it was done for the k-tel comp and then released as a single on his home label? the guy did a lot of productions on quality back then.

I first got hold of this song on K-Tel International's "How To Breakdance" album featuring Us Girls (from the movie Beat Street), 'n the New York City Breakers (who wore the red colors in Beat Street)!!!

Wikipedia is useless AS MCDONALDS NUTRITION!! cant rely on ANY freakin thing it says, but I have several copies of the Kraftwerk 12" but took me nearly 20 years to find the 7" of TDF which IS the version on Breakin', I like that version more, because the 12" is a little TOO extended with repeating bars, the 7" has ALL the "action" in it with the breathing and synthesizers including the "zap breakdown" toward the end of the record. But being a DJ, I also own the 12" of the 10 speed version.

10 speed version IS a piece of history, (even though not as good as Kraftwerk) Its funny 'cuz I was SOOO Excited when a former friend of mine said he has TDF and when he played it, it was from that K-tel album and was 10 speed version and I was like "WTF IS THIS???!! when all the TRUE DJ's and underground audience knew the Kraftwerk version was more popular!! this is a cover version, not by kraftwerk it was on a k-tel lp around 1983, at the time the chart albums like the NOW series had bands playing the hit single, but not the original artist. some how this version has made one of my all time favorite tracks sound like its been mixed with supermarket music.

I remember the 10 version. I have that back somewhere in Detroit. This was on the Break movie album. For some odd reason they could not use the Kraftwerk version like the did in the movie.

Wasn't even that odd of a reason actually - Kraftwerk allegedly just wouldn't let them use it, end of story. Apart from the slightly funkier bass line, I can't say I care much for the cover version (having been brought up on the Kraftwerk original), though they did quite well with the drum programming and the harp arpeggio, I would've struggled with these.
