The New York City Opera was supposed to produce it this season. I was heartbroken when they canceled it. I was thrilled to find out that it's being produced next year.
Folks - the Einstein on the Beach opera is going to be restaged worldwide in honor of Philip Glass' 75th birthday during 2012-2013. A press release put out at nonesuch com confirmed this yesterday.
where is the rest? i'm SO keen to see the whole 'opera' but it's not on dvd anywhere, and it's not likely to be performed any time soon in new zealand... grrr

this is complete performance art. this really does need to be re-staged and on tour. 3 nights - london - paris - new york. i wouldn't even put the prefix 'opera' in front of it. by traditional context i know maybe.
my comments are 90% regards the audio as i have not seen this film in full.
