  • Here's another 10 top 10 Biographical: 10: Ed Wood 9: My Left Foot 8: Man for all Seasons 7: The Lion in Winter 6: Patton 5: The Desert Fox 4: Gandhi 3: Amadeus 2: Yankee Doodle Dandy 1: The Life of Emile Zola
  • There´s this forum, rememberthatmovie net , where I go now and then. The users tell you any movie name if you describe a scene or the characters. So far they´ve nailed everything I asked.

  • once upon a time in the west should be the number one western!

  • Where's Pinocchio? It's a classic movie as well.

  • @jakedp100

It was on their list of best Animated films of all time, but Snow White was at the top which is what is shown here.

  • Beauty and the Beast and the Lion King > Snow White

  • Epic, should have been gone with the wild. Or would that be greatest melo drama?

  • I still think it's a load of shit that they could put epic, sports and courtroom drama on here as genres but not horror

  • @jaytf310 I think it's a load of shit also, it's just that there's too many lame horror films and not enough good ones comming out for the critics and scholars to take seriously.

  • I agree with their opinion on the animated movie (Snow White is my favorite animated movie ever), but at the epic section I would have put Gone With the Wind or Dr Zhivago. These 2 were better than Lawrence of Arabia :D

  • @DisneyClassicsFan Gone With The WInd isn't really an epic. It's long, but it's not epic.

  • @FetaCheese222

Um, yes, it is. Gone With The Wind is just as much of an epic as Lord of the Rings. It sure as hell feels shorter than the Lord of the Rings trilogy. But, it is most definitely an epic film.

  • @LukeLovesRose It's hilarious then how Lord of the Rings was listed as a fantasy and not an epic.

  • @LukeLovesRose Okay, I apologise. I'm not sure what I was thinking that day.

  • Lawrence wasn't even a movie, it was a musical

  • Wonderful show

  • didn't they have a category for musicals as well?

  • Rear Window is just a little bit better than Vertigo...James Stewart rocks!!!!!!!!!

  • Bit disappointing that the Matrix didn't make the top 10 for Science Fiction or The Good, The Bad and The Ugly for Western.

  • @AIDOZ the matrix was a brilliant idea for a movie masked by overbearlingly loud sound-fx and mindless action

  • Fantasy should be lord of the rings not wizard of fuck

Science fiction should be star wars

  • @connor2112232 your comments make you sound very intelligient. As I recall, star wars was number two behind 2001, but can any scifi movie ever top the only truely realistic and visually stunning movie ever made? No, 2001 deserves to be number one, Star Wars at number two. But i will agree with you on fantasy, but i won't be as ignorant as you and boldy claim a historical and iconic movie "Wizard of Fuck." That just makes you sound low class.

  • @mattknowsfilm whatever

  • The Good, the Bad and the Ugly really DESERVED TO BE THE GREATEST WESTERN OF ALL TIME.

  • It is absolutely astonishing how ridiculous it is that Bridge on the River Kwai wasn't even on the top 10

  • citizen kane was the best

  • @maxxrexx SAVING PRIVATE RYAN? r u a dumbfuckk?? bollocks to the american war films, they all suck balls.

  • @tool619 so does germany, fag

  • CHINATOWN !!!! CHINATOWN !!! IT DESERVED TO BE NUMBER ONE !!! NOT CITIZEN FUCKING KANE (OVERATED) OR GODFATHER (GOOD BUT NOT AS GOOD AS CHINATOWN)

  • Who compiled this cockamamie list, anyway? Raging Bull??? Come on, now. Be serious.

  • they should have a top 10 superhero movies next time

  • LOL I don't trust any list that doesn't have It's A Wonderful Life in the top 10.

  • @msymsed True this movie get overlooked a lot.

  • This list thing gives me acute nausea.

  • Can someone help me? I'm looking for an old

movie made in somewhere in the 60s end or

the 70s or maybe in the begining of the 80s, I'm not sure

about it. It's an italian film. It's aboute a wanderer

music playhouse. The main song is called something like

"korokocoy", (I also don't really know how they write it), anyway it's the crowing in italian. If someon know this

movie, please help me. Thank you.

  • If Citizen Kane was AFI's #1 movie of all time, why inst it the #1 mystery or something.

  • @TimofAwsome it's not really a mystery. yes you do want to know what rosebud is, but it's not the main idea of the story. the main idea is how the movie goes through kane's life. citizen kane isn't really in a genre, so that's why it's not in the ten top ten.

  • @griffin324 I understand that Rosebud is used more as the plot device to hold the narrative together as opposed to the real heart of the story, but certainly the film is presented in a mystery-esk fashion. I just expected to see it somewhere on one genre list, and mystery sounds the most fitting.

Oh well, Vertigo is one of my favourite movies, so I'm not complaining.

  • @TimofAwsome ha yeah i love vertigo too.

  • "It's nothing personal, Sonny. It's strictly business" how good is that?

  • What a fucking joke! Yeah, try and tell me you're gonna come up with some top 10 movie list and "Gone With the Wind" is nowhere on it? Fiddle dee dee!

  • do you know why its not on it? cause its a fuking joke. go suck a cock

  • Lol you're gay. go suck ur brothers

  • Gone with the wind is amazing. " Fiddle dee dee" -funny comment : D

  • It is! And that's exactly why it should be on here. But since it isn't, I can't even take this list seriously. "Gone With the Wind" is a best selling classic. Not to mention, it is timeless. Haha, why thank you :)

  • Comment removed

  • Yes your right and Vivienne Leigh Is beautiful. Word :D

  • You mean *Vivien Leigh is beautiful :) Yes, she was certainley breathtaking, wasn't she? Always so vibrant and full of life. How unfortunate that she died so young! But her legacy will never die, and neither will Gone With the Wind. That movie is every bit as alive now as it was in 1939!

  • yes. Sorry i spelled her name wrong. I did mean Vivien Leigh. She is alive through the appreciation of her fans and the undeniable brilliance of her performances. Gone with the wind is spectacular. It will never be forgotten : D

  • Sh certainley does live on! And Gone With the Wind's legacy will never die :)

  • 1. Gone With the Wind

    2. Dr. Zhivago

    3. The Graduate

  • LAWRENCE OF ARABIA IS AMAZING!

  • lawrence of arabia ftw:D

  • Does anybody know why their not having a new AFI 100 years series this year?

  • Stop Spamming!

  • WHERE THE FUCK IS KANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it's not really in a certain genre so... it's funny it's the #1 movie but it's only on two of the afi lists.

  • But you know what sucks about this... they left out Horror. SCi Fi doesn't count ya know? and i think horror is a Bigger Genre Then Sports or Coutroom Drama... no fair :/

  • wicked

  • 2001 and TKAM are the best movies on in that 10, but if i had to pick one, I'd go with 2001.

    Kubrick was a genius.

  • in no paticular order top ten 1.rear window 2. anatomy of a murder 3.chinatown 4.vertigo 5.double indemnity 6.network 7.casablanca 8. the malteese falcon 9. witness for the prosecution 10.good night and goodluck
  • Well, that is in a particular order because it is 1 to 10.

  • maybe you can answer this, out of all of Hitchcocks masterpieces...why rear window? i mean i really liked it, but is it better than saboteur and dial m for murder? not trying to be a big fat didck, just wondering

  • I thought it was Vertigo in this top 10.

    Rear Window was average FWIW..

  • why do they think lawrence of arabia is american?

  • good question

  • It's american funded I hear.

  • i loved Lawrence of Arabia, but I think Gone with the Wind should be the no 1 epic

  • they're both gd but mine wud be ben-hur

  • Lawrence of Arabia was amazing, but shouldn't be on the list; These are for AMERICAN movies, and "Lawrence" was entirely British funded.

  • @KmKOmega who cares :P we make the best films anyways

  • @KmKOmega And Hitchcock is british... but moved to america and used the capital

  • @KmKOmega Yes, but it was so good that AFI was forced to put it in :)

  • I would put Dr Zhivago instead of Lawrence of Arabia in the epic genre (both directed by David Lean ironically) great video!

  • Next time the genres should be Teen Comedy, Romance, Martial Arts, Law Enforcement Action, Espionage Action, Documentary, Super Hero, Anime, and Horror. Or maybe do 100 best sequels

  • They couldn't do anime because they can only do films where somebody important involved in the film is american.

  • I'm Sorry, But I Think That Rear Window is a Better Mystery than Vertigo.

  • Somedays I would agree with you, others I wouldn't. I would probably lean towards R.W. over V.

  • Hell ya

  • Nope. Vertigo is better.

  • @NillumNaes you are so right!

  • @NillumNaes suspcion would have been a good choice too

  • @NillumNaes

but whats the mystery in Rear Window?

Thorwald either killed his wife or he didnt...

in Vertigo you got no idea what the fuck is going on

  • @1999UTD one word : Chinatown. Rear window is better than vertigo IMO

  • @NillumNaes Anyone can enjoy Rear Window, its a love letter to cinema, but Vertigo goes beyond just spectatorship, it is a much more thought provoking film, with spectatorship in mind. That is why it is on this list.

  • @NillumNaes Well, as a straight-up mystery, possibly. But Vertigo wins for me because of it's pure emotion and mood.

  • The top ten greatest films of the AFI from 10 different film genres are: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937; Animation) The Wizard of Oz (1939; Fantasy) 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968; Science Fiction) Raging Bull (1980; Sports) The Searchers (1956; Western) The Godfather (1972; Gangster) Vertigo (1958; Mystery) City Lights (1931; Romantic Comedies) To Kill a Mockingbird (1962; Courtroom Drama) Lawrence of Arabia (1962; Epic)
  • Loved seeing Vertigo on there as well as The Searchers.
