That is such a sweet video of those horses, but yes, those people were stupid (and illegal!) to be so close. We just came back from the OBX and knew, before we went there, about the law of not being withing 50 feet, etc. We have a camera with a good zoom and got some GREAT photos from more then 50 feet away, giving them their space. What awesome animals they are and what a privilege it was to get to see them! Go see them - but be respectful and obey the law!

Great Vid

A couple of comments.....

1. The horses are not Wild, they are Feral.

2. Getting close carries risk, however, these horses are around people so much that the likelihood of an attack is low. They wouldn't let you get within a mile of them if they were the least bit scared.

3. Using a flash around a horse is STUPID. A good kick to the forehead will fix that.

4. Crowding or surrounding any horse is a recipe for disaster.

5. NO MORE LAWS, act responsible, and be responsible.

Dumb-acting tourists. I don't want people thumbing down this video because i know horses and i love them and i couldn't live without them- i've been riding a long time. Horses- especially wild ones- will spook at anything, including camera flashes. Even the gentlest horses can panic at the strangest things. And also, they are WILD! They are not domesticated. You're lucky one of them didn't spook or try to kick you.

Every time I go there I feel that they are so hungry, they were hitting me with their hoofs in the nighttime thru my tent looking for something to eat. I really think they look pretty scrawny and need more food than is available. just my opinion. Its illegal to feed them and even if you do break out apples or bread in no time you are encircled by angry horses who will fight and kick uyou to get at the food they are so hungry it makes me sad

the horses didn't seem bothered by the flash or the people. the video is about 1 minute but the horses stood around all the people for 5 minutes. eventually they just wandered away, didn't run, didn't seem jump.
